Australian Open 2017 [Roger Federer clinches his 18th Grand Slam title]

Nadal hasn't played at his best at all this match.

Hopefully he's close to it in the decider.

Not sure if he has the body now to play like he used to at his peak, certainly not on quicker surfaces, where he was just above par to begin with - not brilliant like Feder or Djokovic.

Agreed.

Federer used to find unbelievable geometrical angles in the past but Nadal would chase pretty much every one of them and just endlessly frustrate Federer finally breaking him. However in this match, Federer has looked to play very aggressive playing many serve & volleys and taking many balls within the baseline thereby reducing the time of response for Nadal which has slowed down a bit due to ageing. Nadal used to play very good passing shots against Federer when he came up to the net but hasn't played them well today.

Going right down to the wire as expected. Cracker!

I predicted this double fault. Federer now has 3 break points, and Nadal is done. :sree

I've never seen Federer playing this well against Nadal, that too in a deciding set of a grand slam final..

This is insane. I was sure Federer was finished after that fourth set but he's come back brilliantly.

Yes it is Fed ex wow legend! Final defo lived up to the hype no doubt about that one. Take a bow!

I can't believe Nadal let a break slip away from him lmao.

This was his last chance. Don't think he will ever get an another chance.:sree

Federer is the GOAT, it's settled now.

Man, I thought Nadal was in control of the 5th set too :(

What an absolute legend Federer is, what heroes both players are, such a magnificent game.

Federer, best ever, fantastic, take a bow son.

Definitely Nadal's game to lose in the final set. Kudos to Federer though. If Nadal can maintain his current level of fitness, I strongly believe that he can nail the French Open this year.

No shame in losing to the Greatest of All time :srini Jai Shri Ram . You'll feel better after we thrash England tonight. :)

He is certainly the best ever till date.

But I think Djokovic might challenge him. Nadal's body is too fragile to last till 35.

Yeah Djoko might challenge him in the future but he is also nearly 30. Don't know how long he can play that level of tennis. Federer being competitive at 35 is not something Djoko/nsdal can replicate easily.

Oh my goodness!

What a comeback in the fifth set, marvellous win for Federer!

Awesome!

While the match lasted 5 sets, I don't think this was the best final. Federer played fantastic tennis but Nadal was very passive for me.

I remember a Nadal vs Djokovic final in the same grandslam which went past midnight. That was the match where two players stretched themselves to the limits and it was a match where I felt it was very hard to term one player a loser. Djokovic won in the end and in the end both were so tired they couldn't stand in the presentation ceremony. That was the best final in a grand slam I have ever seen.

I thought the match was over after Nadal broke in the first game of the fifth set, but what a comeback!

Have to give credit to Nadal and Federer, tennis wouldn't be anywhere as popular without them.

It is never over with Nadal serving. Atleast 4-5 players in women's circuit serve better than him.

2007 and 2008 Wimbledon finals were better than the 2012 AO final.

This attitude is what I love about Nadal. He is never bitter about losing.

I've always found Nadal to be the most gracious in defeat out of the four. Maybe it's due to bias but that was always the impression I got over the years.

This i beleive is better than the Wimbledon 2008 final between the 2 .. How both players worked around their injuries & physical limitations was incredible here.. Especially Fedex at 35 !! :14::14:
