Avesh Khan vs Shaheen Shah Afridi

Looking at what our Trundlers are have to offer off lateit looks as if Shaheen has already won a WC.

Coming to the performance.

Match 1 against AUS, top wicket taker.(FINCH, MAXWELL and SHORT)
Match 2 against AUS, the most economical bowler, when FINCH and SHORT was going berserk.

Na bro this is not worth of hype yet.he have long long way to go.

Bumrah is class mavi and nagarkoti are also good.India is producing world standard pacers for the first time in their history don’t be greedy now

Bumrah is our first choice bro. I am not saying we don't have good bowlers, rather questioning the bench strength. Shaheen is their 3rd choice, not even 2nd choice, whereas our 2nd choice (have tried atleast 5 in last few months) looks worse than Shaheen.

Chill you guys had decent bowlers in recent condulded U19 WC, wait them to groom but the way BCCI and indian cricket works they wont be drafted in team in any time soon meanwhile same is not the case with Pakistan especially when it comes to bowlers

I thought India was going to annihilate England. But they have already started to open whiny threads...

From one extreme to the other...weird.

Truly mind boggling. Despite having a huge number of tall, strong and cricket mad men India is not producing enough of quality pacers. Meanwhile where are the U19 bowling stars? Why are the left to rot in domestics? My cricket knowledge is limited but I feel Pak exposes young pacers raw into international cricket. For eg- Shaheen. And I don't buy into the argument that India has a batting culture and Pak has a bowling culture. In a cricket frenzied wouldn't young boys get inspired at least by seeing the foreign pacers?

Even though Shaheen got a phainty in the Under 19 World Cup final. I think because of the fast bowling culture in Pakistan he is going to win this race against Nagarkotti, Mavi etc. Same is true for young indian batsman. They have a better chance of succeeding when compare to young pakistani batsman.

As predicted Shaheen has already made a name for himself whereas guys like Avesh and Nagarkotti are nowhere to be seen. :inti

Well done BVB, but things change very quickly in Cricket, they still can make good comebacks and Shaheen can lose his way. Time will show, we can talk about this in 2030 Godwilling.

Bowlers who started at similar age group, similar levels and see where they are now. India stopped giving early call ups to players and this is detrimental for fast bowlers. About time we fix this..

How tall are Avesh,Mavi and Nagarkoti?. If they are short like Hasan then they will not be very successful.Very few bowlers under 5 10' have been successful.

For Mavi Nagarkoti Avesh or Saini to play, they have to be better than Bumrah and Shami. There arent many bowlers better than these two in the world, let alone India.

Right now some are running around looking for solace.

Hopefully Saini will get a chance for the WI series.

Lol as if there are only 2 fast bowlers in the squad. Bumrah is good, but rest are just okish, they take wickets but go for plenty AS we have seen in this WC. So there are plenty of places up for grabbing. Only Bumrah is bankers, but he will also need rest.

Lol nagaekoti is like 5”7 max lmao Avesh is 6 plus but they all are trash and are a poor mans umesh yadav. It’s just ridiculous when indian bowlers are compared with Pakistani bowlers it’s just laughable just like when Pakistani batsman are compared with indian batsman it’s the same thing. Although bumrah is an anomaly and with his action he’s been very successful unless another bowler with the same action as bumrah rises out of India I don’t see another great fast bowler coming out from there

Normally India plays only 2 fast bowlers. Bumrah and Shami. And Shami is more than Okay. His stats are better than most Asian fast bowlers in LOIs.

Shami has taken 14 wickets in 4 matches. That too is required.

India has a settled bowling attack, thats why any 19yr old will find it difficult to break in. Plus there is the system. Before Mavi or Nagarkoti, Saini and Avesh will play. Just like before them Chahar Kaul and Thakur got their chances.

The likes of Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi will be rested in the odd series in between. You do need to build a bench strength by trying out new players in those series. Not sure why they have so much faith in the likes of Kaul and Thakur tbh.

Saini will likely play in WI series. Avesh may get a chance in the home season. Mavi and Nagarkoti are atleast a season away from getting selected.

Yeah. Saini isn't far away from debuting. Good chance Avesh will too. We need to draft Prasidh into Ind A. Selectors have finally realized the need to move beyond Kaul and Thakur, I think. Khaleel may continue to be considered because he is a left armer.

Thakur had a one off brilliant Ranji season. And Kaul had a brilliant IPL season with SRH. Plus our present selectors are clueless.

Normally we have a chairman of selectors who has represented India at international level with some success. But the present group has a total of less than 20 tests between them. Hopefully after Oct 22, we will have a proper selection committee.

Bumrah is better (agreed). But, Shaheen should go past Shami. Shami is actually quite expensive generally.

Shami takes wickets. And his SR and Avg are very good.

Afridi is just beginning his career. So this comparision is moot at this point in time.

Maybe someone should bump the Shami is underrated ODI star thread.

This comment deserves all the lols though
"Shaheen is better than all Indian pacers (except for Bumrah maybe)."

Shaheen's bowling average: 21.17.
Shami's bowling average: 24.75.

Still early days for Shaheen but so far so good.

I forgot to mention that most of Shami's wickets came at the death overs (when batsmen were already hitting). Bumrah's wickets are quality; Shami's wickets are deceptive.

That's rubbish. Why did Pant get a chance than? Was he not part of the same Under 19 team where Mavi and Nagarkotti played? :inti

He is not.

Pant made his debut last year. He was around 20 that time. Nagarkotti and Mavi are in the same age bracket. It is not written somewhere that senior players will get their chances before the guys who are 1 or 2 years younger than them.

Well both are injured and haven't played much FC cricket.

Rule in Indian cricket is simple these days, no one gets fastracked unless they have at least one full season of FC cricket and done well on A tours.

Next quicks to get a chance will be Saini and Avesh as a result.

lmao at except for bumrah maybe. bumrah is far better. bumrah is the best for a reason. shaheen has serious potential though for sure. I would say shami is better than him too. shami is world class.

Avesh Khan age, height, hometown and T20 stats

Uncapped pacer Avesh Khan has become the talk of the town after his fantastic performance for the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2021 fixture against the Chennai Super Kings. Khan bowled four overs in CSK's innings, scalping two wickets and conceding only 23 runs at an economy rate of 5.75.

Avesh Khan opened his account in the IPL by trapping former South African skipper Faf du Plessis in front of his stumps. The Delhi Capitals youngster did not allow the South African batsman to open his account.

Khan did the same to MS Dhoni, as he got him out before the CSK skipper could score his first run in IPL 2021. Khan bowled a back-of-length delivery outside off that got a thick inside edge off Dhoni's bat and rattled his stumps.

The Delhi Capitals included Avesh Khan in their playing XI ahead of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. The decision paid off well for the Delhi-based team, and here are some interesting facts you need to know about Khan.

Avesh Khan Age

Avesh Khan was born on December 13, 1996. He is 24 years and 118 days old (as of April 10, 2021).

Avesh Khan Height
Avesh Khan is 5 feet and 11 inches tall, which approximately equals 1.80 meters.

Avesh Khan Hometown
Avesh Khan was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He represents the Madhya Pradesh team in the domestic arena.

Avesh Khan T20 stats

Avesh Khan has played 27 T20 matches in his career, scalping 32 wickets. He has one four-wicket haul and one five-wicket haul to his name.

Looking at his numbers in the IPL, Khan had played nine matches before this game where he took five wickets at an economy rate of 9.87. He recorded his best figures in the IPL tonight.

Said this almost 3 years ago. :inti

Shaheen is a better bowler between the two but Avesh and 37 other Indian pacers are certainly better than Naseem Shah.

Oh bhai bas kar de.

Already Khaleel has become Zaleel after the comparison with Shaheen, don't do it for Avesh too.

I like Avesh and think he will become a successful Test bowler like Shami, but Shaheen is a different level bowler.

Avesh Khan has been roped in by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 10 crore in the ongoing IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru on Saturday. The 25-year-old was released by Delhi Capitals (DC) after IPL 2021. The pacer finished second in the Purple Cap race last season with 24 wickets in 16 matches. The bowler has also become the most expensive uncapped pick in IPL auction history. The fee paid for Avesh has surpassed the previous all-time high of INR 9.25 crore paid for an uncapped player when Krishnappa Gowtham was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2021. The base price of Avesh was INR 20 lakh.

Who is Avesh Khan?

This looks an old thread when i used to a a frequent user. Can't remember the name of this Indian fast bowler.

Avesh Khan is set to make his ODI debut today vs West Indies.

Has the redemption arc begun for Avesh? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Nice to see him pull things back after the last match.

Shaheen is more talented - left arm pacer who can bring ball back . Avesh is going to be a srinath - hit the deck , solid .

Mohsin khan might actually be competing with shaheen shortly .

Indian system does not fast track any fast bowler . Siraj is best example . It’s a three tier system -
Top 5-8 , mid 5-8 bowlers and rest

Top 5-8 bowlers are constantly rotated
Mid 5-8 bowlers given a tours , ipl and when top 5-8 get old - they are brought in .
Ishant sharma being now replaced by avesh and Prasiddh
Arshdeep , umran and mohsin I believe will be in top 5-8 shortly

The last rung is the ranji bowlers . They are being monitored and if they have a breakthrough season , they get into the mid rung .

Yes pakistan has a fast bowling culture etc , but india has been managing workloads of fast bowlers well .

Reason for india not doing well in odi has been poor batting not bowling . Main reason for regression of batters has been lack of similar management philosophy for batters .
Kohli and sharma are two contrasting examples . Sharma has not been picked after two poor tests but imo is still the top 5 test bowlers in india
Kohli still being persisted inspite of two years of failures .

Shaheen is a generational talent so not fair to compare any random Indian fast bowler to him.

Avesh, Khaleel, Mohsin are simply not comparable to him because unlike Shaheen, neither of the bowlers can swing the bowl both ways and at high pace. Arshdeep can swing the bowl both ways but he doesn't have that pace of Shaheen nor does he have the expertise with the new bowl. That expertise may or may not come with time so that is what decides the fortune of a player.

All said and done, in Test cricket, Shaheen still has a lot to prove. He needs to win games in SENA for his team like Bumrah and even Siraj has done.

Avesh Khan is an absolute dud. All these matches where he picks up 2/4 wickets is going to hurt India in the long term.
The quicker India gets rid of him the better.

Lol at comparisons with SSA

I had no idea people have been interested in Avesh Khan since that long. Absolute rubbish trundler...the likes of which there are a dime a dozen of.

Avesh under pressure vs Pakistan and Rizwan....

Not a bowler who you should allow to get away with an economy of below 6. He is a trudler, pure trudler and the fact that we lost wickets to him was just ridiculous.

Rizwan started off well against him, but i cant believe how they allowed this guy get over the top

Another one of those trundlers who will be forgotten

Tbh he will continue to rake in good money as there is a lack of 140+ bowlers of Indian nationality, so it’s still a good life none the less

Hasnain is a far better T20 bowler.

Avesh Khan is on the same level of Hassan Ali right now

Agree but got to see Hasnain in action first.. so far he has been wrapped in wool and been a travelling member of the team.

They will leave with themselves atleast some sort of legacy in some formats.

I wouldn't put it past most Indian fans to say that Avesh is a better bowler than Shaheen in all formats. This thread is very much alive.

Siraj has achieved more than shaheen in tests as of now. Siraj is a phenomenal test bowler. He is going through a bad patch now in tests. But he has found his mojo again. He will be a good loi bowl too.
Agree with the rest. Arshdeep is an average bowler so far.
Agarkoti has sort of faded into oblivion
Chahar can be a good support loi bowler.
Thakur has his days in the long format. Useful player but nothing special.
Shivam mavi well no one knows him

Thread was opened in 2018. A lot have changed since then.

Shaheen has become a top tier bowler while Avesh is giving away 53 runs in 4 overs against Hong Kong.

Shaheen is the best bowler Pakistan has had since the days of Wasim and Waqar.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Avesh Khan was penalised for his ‘aggressive behaviour' after he threw a helmet on the ground following his team's thrilling last-ball victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Monday. Even the Bengaluru franchise skipper Faf du Plessis has been handed a fine by the IPL Governing Council for maintaining ‘slow over-rate' in the match. Du Plessis was given a fine of INR 12 lakh after RCB failed to finish their quota of overs in the due time.

LSG won the match by one wicket off the last ball and their No. 11 batter Avesh, in excitement, flung his helmet after the completion of the winning run, which invited a reprimand from the match referee.

"The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 15 against the Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Monday," a media release stated.

"As it was the team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakhs." In case of Madhya Pradesh speedster Avesh, there were no financial penalty as a formal warning was deemed to be enough.

"Lucknow Super Giants' Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. Mr Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction." For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding.

Avesh, who was on the strike, had failed to connect his bat with the ball that went straight to the wicket-keeper. Karthik, standing behind the stumps, fumbled which allowed Avesh the opportunity take a single and win the game for his side.
