Hopefully PCB can arrange 5-match test series home and away with Bangladesh, Zimbabwe , Sri Lanka in the next couple of years - we could get another Pakistani batsman reach the 10000 landmark.

Still is the best Pakistani test batsman.

Go Tiger.

:14:

congrats and well deserve.

A great Pakistani batsmen. Has been consistent over the years and just going through a bad patch.

You dont get that many runs with an avg of 40 by a fluke.

He’s not flavour of the month at the moment . He has had a solid career. His last few years have been lean but that should not diminish his overall achievements.

Have been a really good batsman for Pakistan, no doubt about it. Definitely not in the league of Inzi, Younus, Miandad and Yousuf but still a pretty good batsman. Was really good during his peak in 2014-2016 with averages of 51, 57 and 63 with overall average of almost 47 at that time.

Couldnt push on from there but was a match winner in test especially in UAE and have played some memorable knocks like 302* against WI in Dubai, 205* in Melbourne, 226 in Dhaka and a memorable 102 while chasing 302 against Srl in 4th innings in tough batting conditions to highlight some.

There is no batsman that I’ve changed my mind about as much as azhar. When he broke into the side in 2010 I loved his consistency grit and stick ability. I disliked him in the one day set up as I felt his limited range of strokes meant he would eat up too many deliveries and he should focus on a test specialist. But you could look to him in the early part of his career and say there stands the future of Pakistan batting.

From 2012 onwards he was a rock in the middle order and part of many match winning knocks.

I realise he has a 300 and he has 16 100’s and that’s fantastic but what the world wants to see is the leader of the batting lineup score big hundreds against good opposition in all conditions..on the subcontinent and in SENA. Very much like Anderson who despite a stellar record is not fully accepted as an all time great because of an ordinary record outside England, azhar too has some cheap 100’s to boost his average against soft opposition on good batting tracks.

As a Pakistan fan I’ll always support him but if he makes a match saving 100 today that really will silence a few critics. He just needs to do it more often.

Great knock so far by Azhar. Credit to him.

It's a grand shame that we only have a few that have reached this milestone. The lack of cricket played by Pakistan is also a factor.

But at the end of the day he is in the record books and no one can argue that it is undeservedly so.

Great achievement by him Congratz
If he continues to play in the future the question is can he hit the 10000 run Mark and be the second Pakistani to do so

Well what is special about this knock by him is that it’s in England against broad Anderson and archer was under clouds with the lights on and with two new balls. Yes he’s been dropped 3 times but in time we will only look at the daddy hundred he’s scoring to save the game. Well done

Good achievement made even better given the general lack of Pakistani Test Greats. Having achieved this milestone, particularly with an innings like todays - really could be the perfect final innings, he would leave with a lot of respect from fans.

Well done to him on a fine achievement. If Azhar called it a day now, I think most Pakistan fans would applaud him.

Instead I fear this innings will be used to justify another 1-2 years in the side when Azhar is past his prime.

Definitely credit to him. Everyone wrote him off right before this century including me but he proved a lot of people wrong.

Congratulations to England. Hope he remains captain and opener and continue to deliver for them

Great Servant of Pakistan cricket, but his career should be over now.

same. He should walk away or be let go now, but he will probably keep going until the next tour of SENA when this question will be raised again.

Moves to 23rd position in ICC Test batsmen ranking

For an opening batsman who played most of his career away from home or on dry dust bowls of UAE, an average of 42.00 is pretty decent.add to that a 300, double in Aus and 100’s in Eng that makes him a Pakistani ATG already.
