By recent times, I am referring to the last 8 Tests, where we've won one and lost seven.

I knew we had some bad performances but the stats make for some horrific reading.

You know things are bad when Sohail Khan is statistically your third best batsman. :(

A few series in the UAE will fix that.

I must say though Azhar Ali has been fantastic. Without a doubt the best Test opener in the world.

lol no surprise that the technical Shafiq has garbage record in this period, another proof of his mentality. Even a worse record than inexperienced Sami and Babar. Pathetic with a captial P!

Sarfraz is second, that shows his fighting mentality.

No doubt Azhar is our best batsman of the last 2 years.

Azhar Ali is the best Test opener IN THE WORLD. It's a total shame that he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

People hype up players like Pujara, Kock to the moon. Not saying they are bad, they are quality.

But the double standards are very evident when it comes to Azhar. Who keeps scoring triple and double tons on away tours!

Shafiq expectedly the WORST of them all!!! Even worse than newbies Babar and Sami.

Actually before 2016, the output of both Azhar and Asad was about the same, but over the last year and a half Azhar has switched another gear and not only gone far far ahead of Asad he has undoubtedly become the best batsman in our test side.

Uh, that's because his flaws were being shielded by the UAE conditions. Where Misbah always saved him. Here Misbah is our 3rd best bat (pain for you) but could not do enough to save Shafiq from humiliation.

Asad Shafiq in Australia: 40 avg
Asad Shafiq in England: 40 avg
Misbah ul Haq in Australia: 13 avg
Misbah ul Haq in England: 40 avg

I know you don't handle facts or logic very well but don't compare Shafiq with a batsman like Misbah.

Syed1 , Misbah won us in England, contributed to our wins. Look at the stats in OP, and stop trying to twist 'facts' to make him sound superior. Either the OP is lying or you're just pulling up selective stats to show your favorite is superior.

The best test batsman in last 7 years without any shadow of a doubt and richly deserves to be the captain.

Backed him since day one. His turn in form in the last year or so has been amazing. Is the perfect test match opener. Has the technique, tempremeant, and concentration to score big and score out of his comfort zone.

Our best test match batsmen and one of the best in the world.

There you go,haters. What can be said now? He's been excellent, phenomenal in Australia.Has changed since 2013 when he was dropped(deservedly)for poor performances. Now he's one of the best batsmen in the world.

Alot of Shafiq's stats have to do with his shuffling from 3rd to 6th... that can make anyone lose their confidence and self belief... the guy toiled hard for 6 years to earn that spot, only for it to be yanked away from him and given to a youngster who was playing his first test match with fancy offdrives only... what a tragedy

The guy has been on record saying he wants to bat in those positions, but has been made to prove himself as a lower order slogger almost (his competitors of his posiiton are usually allrounders of wicket keeper batsmen)

The gross injustice it is to give a youngster a privelege no.3 position and call him your best bat for no reason...in place of an experience test bat.... that sort of treatment only wreaks of bias and eludes any sort of logic
This bias can only happen in Pakistan

Azhar Ali has been a great player recently, good to see Sarfraz being the 2nd best bat.

When 4 of your test regulars are failing consistently , how are you going to win.

Younis khan despite his 175* averages only 28.
Babar 24 , shafiq 22. This is unacceptable from the senior dudes especially ,good decision that misbah and younis are hanging their boots. Babar azam and shafiq are big worries for pakistan.
