Babar Azam and Expectations

As an indian fan I absolutely love the consistency Babar Azam brings to the team but I feel that he is wrongly targeted for his strike rate. if he bats at 70 SR its ok to complain but he maintains his strike rate more than 80-85 everytime i watched him bat.

I feel the whole pressure of strike rate is getting to him and will only impact his consistency. Instead you should find good hitters who can bat around him and leave the anchor role to him.

Babar Azam has been compared to Misbah in terms of slow strike rate.

The problem is Misbah always came when the scorecard read 21/3 in 8 overs, or 79-7 in 15 overs with only Misbah batting on the other end.

While someone like Babar who can bat at a better strike rate than Misbah, is techinically superior finds ways to slow down when team needs to accelerate. And is accelerating when team needs to slow down.

For eg nobody would've complained if he batted slowly today considering we are losing wickets.

Expectation should based on ability. We cannot expect a middle class student who gets 60% marks to compete with first, 2nd or third who gets over 90% marks. Its too much for him and he may do worse by putting himself too much pressure and collapse or fail by memorizing/learning a lot of materials.
