IMO FZ is not mentally there. It’s ironic how the players not performing or are close to being dropped are they ones getting injured or become unwell (Fakhar, Qadir, Haider, Naseem after being smashed in one game)

But the ones performing and clearly injured are fighting through every game (Rizwan/Shadab). Something very suspicious about the PCB’s medical assessments. They tried to ride Shaheen to recovery instead of sending him away.

Fakhar is misplaced at no.3 and seeing how Warner, Butler, Hales and Marsh play pace in Perth, you will need someone of that style at the top

Aquib also thought that Salman Butt was good enough to play in the PSL in his 30s, that Sohail Akhtar was a great choice as LQ captain, and that Kamran Ghulam is a t20 player.

However, it’s time now for Babar to come down the order and reinvent himself. He has the wrists and the timing to be effective in the middle order, but he needs to be brave now.

Pakistan have enough options for nos 1,2 and 3 that he needs to be a team man.

Babar is really letting himself down with these performances but the main thing is that others are finally stepping up to the mark.

Having RizBab open was a neccessity when we had the likes of Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah and Haider Ali in the middle order. They were the only reliable batsmen we had and they did a pretty good job together.

Now we have Fakhar back in form, Ifti doing well and upcoming youngsters Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris in the mix. It absolutely does beg the question - will Babar fit into this team in the near future?

I think the young players need a bit more time and some first class cricket so Babar should survive...for now. He needs to raise his game a lot though if he wants to keep his place.
