Backing of Sarfaraz Ahmed by some

Agreed. A back Keeper should be in reverse. Not in the 15.
 
Now that Sarfaraz has been selected, it would make perfect sense to me to pick him in the XI ahead of Shoaib Malik.

Sarfaraz has played many more crunch knocks under pressure for Pakistan as compared to Malik.
 
Can we thank him for his services and end this chapter now please and ignore the usual noise from the Karachi media.
Saifi is a good guy but there carrying him around makes no sense.
 
He caused the match to have gone down to the wire. A waste of pick, There are many young talent that are better than him. Malik should be given a farewell as well.
 
Struggle to see what sarfraz brings to the game of cricket in general. Overweight, poor fielder, can’t run, weak batsman, no mental strength, collapses under pressure, zero leadership skills, the only thing worse than his attributes listed above are his actual cricketing stats; he’d b a poor pub player. Yet playing for Pak, sorry I meant embarrassing himself while turning up for Pak. Because he is unable to actually play or offer anything of value.
 
No point in having him in the team if he isn’t going to play regularly. If he is there to just warm the bench, then you might as well have some youngster like Rohail in the team.
 
He was good on a few occasions in the past eg CT2017 but T20 game is a different ball game now .Pakistan we’re in the driving seat when he came to bat but he could not get going.Chacha Ifti or Khushdil should have been sent in instead of Sarfraz.A quick 15-20 runs by either of them would have comfortably won the match.
 
Well....at least the guy made the match more thrilling and interesting. :sarf2

Otherwise it would have been a :yawn
 
The bigger question is do you want Sarfraz to warm the bench while on Pakistan duty or go back to domestic and occupy a spot for a keeper there. I feel warming the bench for Pakistan is the better option.
 
Why a guy who has so much experience needs to be a backup keeper. Take a young guy like Rohail Nazir on tour to get experience.
 
The main argument used by the KHI media to protest dropping Sarfaraz was that this is not the way to treat a captain who won you the Champions Trophy. Our Cricket will not progress when our board, awam and media stops being nostaglic, emotional and actually becomes more ruthless, professional in their decision making.
 
Today was the best example of how we need to move away from sarfraz, with the way rizwan is playing we need to get a few youngsters into the team and see how they develop.
 
I don’t know why Sarfraz didn’t play any shots.It could be due to rustiness or fear of losing his wicket.Pakistan bat deep so he should have not worried about playing big shots.All he had to do was hit a couple of boundaries.
 
For Riz to stay at the top,Sarfi needs to stay around. As soon Sarfi falls away, Riz will also suffer. Based on what has happened to our WKs,PK cricket needs him
 
Need to groom a couple of young wicket keeper batsmen as backup.I hope Rizwan will stay fit but injuries to occur so it is best to plan ahead.

Looked very rusty, lacking match practice.

It was a very ordinary innings and nearly cost his team the match.

I'm not sure playing second fiddle to Rizwan and being a drinks boy is benefitting Sarfaraz's game at all.
 
Huge fan of Sarfraz, but the fact is there’s no place for him it’s the perfect opportunity to groom Rizwan replacement Rohail Nazir or someone else to come in and learn the culture and get some international experience other then Sarfraz

Rohail Nazir is more suited to the longer format.
Muhammed Harris hits the ball hard has the potential in batting decent keeper.
Azam Khan,Bismillah Khan not good enough as keepers.
 
Rohail Nazir should be groomed as the second keeper for tests.

But am not sure if Muhammed Harris or any other keeper/batter is ready to be a replacement for sarfraz

Why do you want to take away Sarfraz Ahmed's holiday tours?
 
WOW, was he bad.

I think they need to look at alternatives for the back-up role. Sarfaraz's career has to end, age has caught up to him.
 
If sarfaraz is going to be a back-up should only be in ODI format, personally. For t20, and test should try a younger wk-batsman as a back up keeper.
 
It can't be easy for him to be playing the occasional match here and there as a token gesture.

If I were him I'd call it a day in international cricket, move on and let a younger wk come through as Rizwan's back-up.
 
He should only be selected in Test squad as a backup keeper if he is to be selected at all. LOIs have been his weakest formats. In ODIs he can only be selected if he is to bat at 4 or 5 (that too only if he is the best batter in those conditions) otherwise should blood someone new. Rohail has been in middling form of late though.
 
Keep him as water boy for another year or so.

Karma for verbally and mentally abusing his teammates while being a below par couch potato himself.
 
Sarfaraz Ahmed is a great player. He reminds me of Dhoni with his attitude. Great energy on the field. Safe keeper. Awesome match sensibility while chasing. Limited talent but great utilization. He should play as a specialist batsman alongside Rizwan who is not so good batsman but in great form.

Quite surprised how Azam Khan has been dropped off. If the management wants to play Azam Khan in the future in the side. He should at least be in the squad as reserve wk in t20. Otherwise keep someone like Rohail Nazir.

With FC going on, it's far better for these youngster to actually play in that than the odd match against Bangladesh or potentially WI.

Hopefully they don't bother selecting him for the next WC though. As a back-up wicket keeper, Azam Khan makes much more sense with his power in the middle/lower order Pakistan desperately lacks.

I don't think he's good enough as a wicket-keeper.

To me he seems to be a makeshift wicket-keeper, doesn't look natural at all with the gloves.
 
Sarfaraz batted at no.4 in the last T20. That was never his number. Plus it is not easy coming into the side and perform straight away.

Sarfaraz is an asset and he needs to be kept with the side to support Rizwan.

Personally wouldn't go with azam khan, would take rohail nazir or mohammad Haris

:qdkcheeky Rizwan got backed because he was actually fit and very good, you spoke too soon and now the results are infront of your eyes, you were completely wrong.

Sarfaraz is currently Pakistan’s second best wicket keeper batsman without a shadow of doubt. He is also a valuable contributor behind the scenes and an amazing team man. In this new Covid world you need to carry two wicket keepers and Sarfaraz is your man.
 
It’s strange that Rizwan still has so many doubters. His keeping is flawless and his batting is consistent. If he can continue his current performance over the next few years he will be amongst the greatest keepers from Pakistan.
 
Safraz should only be kept as the secondary keeper in test only for his experience. There is no place for him in T20 or ODI.

You are right, that's the only way to describe him being an "asset",. I have no idea what kind of future planning is to let this dinosaur travel with the team. Traditionally there was always an understudy to the established keeper. Wasim got to be the worst selector in recent times for Pakistan.

Mohammed Haris should be travelling with the squad. What’s the point of Sarfraz. He should retire. It’s embarrassing seeing him play. Looks completely lost. People here mentioning Rohail Nazir I am not impressed by him. Mohammad haris is the way forward at least for limited overs.

Yeah the pecking order should be Mohammad Haris, and if not him than ill take Rohail over sarfaraz, But ideally it should be Mohammad Haris as the back up keeper.

Absolutely , Rohail emerged well but regressed too soon , but age is behind him , can make a comeback. Harris should be Rizwan's understudy now , he is very talented with many Rizwan like qualities, including being a natural keeper, good batsman and plays well under pressure , I was very impressed with his batting in under 19 WC.

I think in the event they want to try Mohammad Haris as a batsman alone, and have rizwan as the wicket keeper batsman.

Am not sure on haris I think he stil needs a year of domestic performances.

Rohail should be back up wicket keeper for rizwan in tests only.
 
At the moment, Sarfraz should be traveling with the squad. Rizwan is an automatic pick in all the formats and from the looks of it, he's not going anywhere. Keeping Sarfraz allows Rohail, Haris, and Azam to play domestic cricket and actually improve their game. Otherwise, they'll just be warming the bench and miss out on game time.
 
Sarfaraz Ahmed has been dropped from the T20 & ODI squads against West Indies.
Is this end of the road for Sarfaraz Ahmed?
 
Sarfraz destroyed Riz's early career and is now doing it to Rohail.

He did all that with 15,16 and 17 like averages in SENA. Kudos to him.

Sent at number 4 again today whilst chasing 200. Moin Khan really backs him, lets see if it pays off today.

I would like him to bat a click faster. He takes momentum out more often than not.

Batting too high in my opinion.

135 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 123 isn't acceptable.

Should be coming in at 6 or 7.

Batting too low in my opinion.

He only gets into the as an opener for me, Roy, Ahsan, Smeed are ahead of him though.

If you are batting at 4 you have to be able to score quickly and win matches for your team.

How often does he do that? Very rarely.

Because he is a mediocre player with a horrible record against good teams. Sincere as a person, but a bad cricketer.
 
Where are Sarfraz' backers today? Cant believe he was blocking Rizwans entry in the team for so long... no chance he could have played an innings like this. Not even in the purplest of purple patches.
 
He still has supporters and some still question why rizwan is in the team ahead of him. Some here too.
 
Sarfy was brilliant but Rizwan seems to be upping his game consistently. At this rate, Rizwan will be the best keeper in Pakistan history by the time he retires (if his slope continues upwards)
 
At this point if you still back Sarfraz, then your credibility has to be questioned. Rizwan is head and shoulders above Sarfraz.
 
May be we missed a trick by discarding Sarfraz too early specially from T20 format had he been captain we might have progressed against the Aussies in Uae21,
Also the no. Of passengers team is carrying we can easily adjust Sarfraz in the side
Whatever but PCB missed the trick
