Bangladesh (144/3) comfortably defeat Hong Kong (143/7) by 7 wickets in Match 3 of the Asia Cup 2025

Bangladeshis are such losers. The other two teams in their group are very competitive in SL & AFG . This group most likely decided by NRR . AFG already got a huge win . Have to chase this target very quickly. Lads casually going about 7 an over . Never change lads

Winning is not enough. Need a big win. Afghanistan already crushed Hong Kong and SL are likely to do the same. So, if BD don't win big here, things can become tricky in terms of NRR.
 
This is such rubbish and toothless cricket. Milking one's and two's against bloody Hong Kong when you have 8 wickets in hand and need just over run a ball.

Time to change the channel.

Well, they are not England or India.

I guess they want to ensure they win with a few overs to spare.

A few wickets here can make things worse.

Also, Hong Kong spinners are good. They also were economical against Afghanistan.

It's this kind of mentality which is why Bangladesh are such a rubbish team. The fact that they are not even trying to hit boundaries shows they are scared of losing to a minnow.

Liton and Hridoy have played so much cricket, scored runs against better teams. Yte they dont have the confidence to attack Hong Kong's minnow, ultra-slow bowling attack

They are #9 or #10 in T20 for a reason.

If they could blew opponents away, they wouldn't be #10 in ranking.

I think they should try to get a win here and probably should try to beat SL. SL should be easier than Afghanistan. BD beat SL in 2024 World T20 also.

You were the same person who wanted Bangladesh to score more than 200 runs and win big but now you are defending this rubbish cricket.

Well clearly they want to stay at #9 or #10. Hard to respect a team that is not even interested in getting better. I would respect them more if they tried to play with some intent and lost some wickets in the process. The result is not in doubt, everyone knows they will win. Why not show some spine and have some self-belief in your abilities? This is not Afghanistan or Sri Lanka, it's Hong Kong. A team that has never won a match in Asia Cup history.

Hong Kong spinners are good. It was good they didn't try to slog.

They can start slogging now. Spinners are almost done.
 

Bangladesh Ease Past Hong Kong with Seven-Wicket Victory​


Bangladesh began their DP World Asia Cup 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in the Group B clash in Lahore. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack kept Hong Kong to a modest 143 for 7 in 20 overs.

Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with the ball, claiming 2 for 21 including the key wickets of Zeeshan Ali (30 off 34) and Hayat. Taskin Ahmed (2/38) and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (2/31) provided crucial breakthroughs, while Mustafizur Rahman kept things tight with an economical spell of 4-0-20-0. Despite a late burst from Yasim Murtaza (28 off 19), Hong Kong never found the momentum to challenge Bangladesh.

In response, Bangladesh’s chase was anchored by skipper Litton Das, who blazed a 39-ball 59, laced with six fours and one six. Parvez Hossain Emon (19 off 14) and Towhid Hridoy (35* off 36) played supporting roles as Bangladesh reached the target in 17.4 overs, finishing on 144 for 3.However, the star of the match was undoubtedly Litton Das, whose match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match title.

There was an elaborate cricinfo article about their improved six hitting . But turns out HK hit 5 sixes. BD hit only 2 sixes
 
Whenever BD plays these associate nations, they are always nervous. They should've at least wrapped up the game by 15 overs, but I guess letting Hridoy have match practice was more important. He is seriously out of form.

Also, they are highly depended on Parvez Emon now. If he goes early, BD will struggle on the run rate.
 
This slow batting in this match is going to cost bangladesh their super 4 spot. Its already a tough competition with Afghanistan and Sri lanka and Afghanistan already won big against Hong Kong in the first match.

NRR will 100% mattar in deciding which two teams go to super 4

Agree.

They should've restricted Hong Kong to 120 or less. They should've chased it down in 12-13 overs.

Anyway, they must beat SL next game. If they lose, things can become very tricky.
