What's new

Bangladesh [160/8] defeat Sri Lanka [159/7] by 2 wkts, to play India in final of Nidahas T20 series

Those days Australian umpiring were extremely biased. Even now that incident is not glorified. Same way Ranatunga trying the same when Murali was noballed.

Gavaskar was given LBW on an inside edge. He was walking off, but then DK showed him the way with every filth of his .....

Today's umpiring wasn't anything better - I could have taken it had it been an honest mistake; but the guy called it & then found that his call might cost SRL the game.

It was not an honest mistake

Lankan umpire should be also asked to go the referee

Why are the umpires Srilankan for a SL match?? I thought there was some rule regarding neutral umpires except for the 3rd umpire.

Not in T20 - it's 2, 1 & 0 in Test, ODI & T20.

It has a merit as well - unless you allow a domestic Umpire to stand, how can new Umpires come?

What a game truly enjoyed...and the awesome cobra dance....nidhas trophy name should replace and keep it as "cobra-safera" series and played every year from niw on..:bm

Yes man.it has been an awesome tournament so far.Specially BD Vs Sl games were superb with close finishing. I always loves tournaments over meaningless competitionless bilateral series.

The expression on the umpire’s face when the batsman managed to play the scoop shot...

Good thought! I was wondering why ODI's have one local umpire. Makes sense now.

BD shows how to screw an easy win. Not happy at all. Many things should be sorted out. Sabbir, somya,Miraz should be dropped. All useless bench warmers. Mosaddek, ariful should be in. Jayed also be tried out for last match. Walsh should go now. AND SIR SHUJON SHOULD BE KICKED OUT FROM BCB's boundary wall.

I agree fully to all your suggestions. These 3 useless players should be dropped for a long time.Mustafizur is also rubbish in pressure situation.

THIS.

If India were 97-2 it would have been comfortable victory with an over to spare. Calm & composed behaviour of the Indian batsmen is so underrated.

Lot of teams just bottle it under pressure even if the bowling is nothing spectacular. Bangladesh lost wickets to nothing deliveries in the last phase of the innings.

Umpires of today's match should be questioned and severally punished for their pathetic and biased umpiring.

We r a pathetic t20 team. No doubt about.

It was a stupid act from Shakib, no doubt. But, if Shakib is called to Match Referee's room (he should be), that Umpire should also go there.
When did we last have an umpire called into the MR room after a howler? Umpires make mistakes, doesn't mean the players act this way.

Umpires indeed make mistakes - that's part of the game. But, if Umpires call a No ball, then finds that it might cost his team a Final spot, reverts back - that's a problem.

Regarding Umpires being called indeed is a new idea, but everything has a first time. Obviously, Cricket didn't start with neutral Umpire, 3rd Umpire, DRS - and, some of these calls were not to eradicate Umpiring howlers, because neutral (I say 3rd country, Umpires by trait should be neutral - in good faith & without negligence) umpires are also making mistakes.

Of course players shouldn't act like this - that's true for every country, every player.

Can you post a video where the umpire calls the said no-ball but then reverts? Read it a few times here but I can't find it in the footage provided so far.

Obviously I can't. However, CI quoted it with the name of Tamim. There has to be something, otherwise BD players would have acted crazy in every game.

Just saw the match highlights a real battle of the minnows :))

And what absolute crybaby stuff from Shakib.

I hope India absolutely smash Bangladesh in the final and bring them back to earth. It'll be one of the few times I'll be supporting parosis.

I don't see it. I watched the replay again. They never showed the umpire signaling it in the first place. It sure is above the shoulder and is a 2nd bouncer and a no ball though. No doubt there

I don't deny lungans will resort to such things. But game has come a long way since. India after sydney did not walk out. But Kumble expressed his concern after the match. Mahamadulla appeared to be maured. Shakib was just trying to act tough. Anyway it all ended well for you guys. Mahamdulla retained the strike. They fumbled a run out. Mhamadulla played couple of ourageous shots. You guys were destined to win. In those days these kind of cheatings would go unnoticed.

This is the saddest part - in between all these "hot" staff both on & of the field, the coolest guy was Mahdullah and his brilliant effort is completely gone unnoticed here.

"I don't want to talk about it, but what happened was that the square-leg umpire called a no-ball and after a discussion they cancelled it," Shakib said. "I didn't think it was the right decision. I don't know what happened after the first ball, which was a bouncer. But after the second ball, the umpire called a no-ball. We are all human, we should take it in the chin and move forward.
But it was upon the umpires' failure to call the second delivery of that over a no-ball for height (it was the second bouncer of the over, the first having been a dot ball to Mustafizur Rahman), that the drama really sparked off. Mahmudullah was in the umpires' faces, imploring them to award a no-ball that would make the requirement 11 off five balls with a free-hit to boot, instead of 12 off 4.
