Miraz failed again as batsman. Very disappointed about him not doing good as batsman as he supposed to be our next shakib but still couldn't deliver as batsman.

Bowling been disappointment for Bangladesh except pacers. Spinners did nothing encouraging. Though it is a good practice match for Bangladesh. Hope they learn from here and apply in main match. Best of luck tigers.

Looks like Shakib has been on decline as a bowler in test. He's been complete dud recently except for 2nd test against England

So the Fizz is back and looks like he is close to regaining full fitness. Doesn't look like he is holding back like he was in New Zealand and according to reports he is bowling close to full pace. 2 for 28 and he was being used cautiously by Mushfiqur. Can't wait to see him back in Tests bowling in the high 130s/140s. Hopefully Taskin too will be more effective with someone like the Fizz as his partner instead of Shafiul or Rabbi.

Will Eurosport be showing this series in UK because they have shown cricket in Sri Lanka before

Chandramohan appointed Bangladesh's physio

The BCB has appointed Thihan Chandramohan as Bangladesh's new physio for the Sri Lanka tour, after ending the contract with Dean Conway, who was appointed ahead of the New Zealand trip. Chandramohan is likely to join the side this evening, and his first work day will be the first day of the Galle Test. The 37-year old Australian had previously worked with Hampshire and Victoria

Bangladesh axe Mahmudullah for second Sri Lanka Test

Bangladesh have dropped batsman Mahmudullah Riyad from their squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, a senior cricket official said on Monday.

“Mahmudullah is coming back home before the second Test as he is struggling with form,” chief selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board Minhajul Abedin told AFP.

“A fast bowler will also return though we have not decided yet who he should be,” he said.

Going into their 100th Test match on Wednesday at the P Saravanamuttu Stadium, Bangladesh are trailing the hosts 0-1 in a two-match series after last week’s crushing 259-run loss at Galle.

Mahmudullah, who has played 33 Test matches since his debut against the West Indies in 2007, scored 8 and 0 in the two innings at Galle.

The 31-year-old has scored only one half-century in last seven Tests.

Opening batsman Imrul Kayes has already joined the squad in Colombo as a replacement.

Imrul missed the last three Tests -– respectively against New Zealand, India and Sri Lanka — because of a hamstring injury.

Expected a lot better from Bangla no reason why they couldn't have drawn the Test. Flat wicket and lost 60+ overs due to rain and bad light going into the last day. Herath well what can I say just an absolute legend. Got to be one of the most under-rated cricketers ever. SL's biggest match winner in Tests after Murali for mine. Had a hand in pretty much all of our big wins from what I can remember with both the ball and bat. Even the T20 WC win in 2014 wouldn’t have been possible without the big fella. A champion through and through. Will miss him big time when he hangs up those size 22s.

That's what I urged to BCB for years. Thank god, they axed the 'vayra' from test side.now they should axe shabbir and Somya from test side too and include mosaddek, nazmul and nurul or bring back nafis or tushar as the last chance.

As visitors Bangladesh continue to struggle in the Test series against hosts Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have meanwhile announced the 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series to be played from March 25. As far as their selections are concerned, the rookie left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam has been given a call into the national side, while they have also recalled all-rounder Shuvagata Hom. Also, Mahmudullah was retained in the side, owing to reluctance from BCB president Nazmul Hassan, insisting that it won’t be fair to drop him from the format. Earlier, few of the Bangladesh newspapers reported that chances are Mahmudullah might be axed from the ODI and T20I squad for the tour. Nevertheless, as he retains his place, the players who have actually been axed from the ODI side, following the ODI series in New Zealand, are all-rounders, in the form of Mehedi Hasan and Tanbir Hayder. Meanwhile, Sunzamul has been phenomenal in the domestic circuit for the past five seasons, leading to his call-up to the national ODI side. He also claimed 25 wickets in the ongoing season, while he also has a nine-wicket haul in an innings, and is also a handy lower-order batsman, reports ESPNCricinfo. As for Shuvagata, he too has been rewarded for his fair performance in the ongoing domestic first-class season, where he scored 265 runs, including a ton, and also has 25 wickets in his bag. He makes a comeback to the national side after almost six years, while his last ODI appearance was back in 2011. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan too has been retained in the squad, following his appearance in the final two ODIs in New Zealand, owing to Mushfiqur Rahim’s injury, who is ruled out of this series.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Sunzamul Islam, Shuvagata Hom, Nurul Hasan (wk).

Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews was left out of a 15-member squad for the three-match one-day international series against Bangladesh that starts next week.

Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement Saturday that Upul Tharanga will captain the hosts of the ODI tournament starting March 25 at the Dambulla international stadium.

Mathews, who returned home in January halfway through the South African tour after twisting his ankle, was left out from the Test squad. Sri Lanka is leading the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh 1-0.

Sri Lanka’s cricket board had earlier hoped that the regular skipper would be able to play in the ODI series.

Sri Lanka squad: Upul Tharanga (capt), Niroshan Dikwella, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera, Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Vikum Sanjaya Bandara, Thisara Perera, Sachitra Pathirana, Seekkuge Prasanna and Lakshan Sandakan.

Predict the outcome of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

Predict:

1. SL 3-0
2. SL 2-1
3. BD 2-1
4. BD 3-0

Mod please add a poll.

2-1 to either side .

if fizz(my favorite ban player) remains fit and played all three odis then ban 2-1 else srilanka will win

the series by 2-1.

2-1 to bangladesh.

Bangladesh in the subcontinent is a gun ODI side. And with the Fizz it's all the more exciting.

With Soumya back in form bangladesh need to back themselves. Time to prove that we can win ODIs regularly abroad.

Not worried given that we aren't playing our 3 top players - Tamim Shakib and Fizz.

SIR SHUVAGOTO HOM AGAIN OUT for 2 :D

The whole country for the last 5/6 years trying to find answer of ONE QUESTION and that is "why sir shuvagoto hom gets selected again again who fails every time with both bat and ball??".

Meanwhile Mash is going on a carnage! BD still needs 50 runs with 3 wkts and 30 balls remaining.

just shows bangladesh bowling with and without fizz how much it makes a difference

still 354 is too much yr

Could have been even more, because they used 8 bowlers. I didn't like Mashrafee bowling 9 overs or Rubel 8 just after reaching SRL, because it could have resulted soft tissue injuries.

Practice matches are almost extended net sessions - nothing much in it. I am sure none of the BD fielders took any risk in field & the pacers stressed for full pace. But, it's other way for the local selection XI - many of them are trying to prove a point, therefore often touring sides under perform in practice matches. Nothing to look in it - as long as every player returned hotel uninjured.

Which means, Sir Hom has his job cut down to team ball boy. However, Hom had a stunning domestic season this year, which is more statistical anomaly than the player's quality:(

The mental blocks are gradually being removed from this Bangladesh team.

They've made their home form strong in ODIs.

They've removed the mental block of not winning a home Test against a top team.

They've removed the mental block of not winning an away Test against a top team. Winning is a habit. Now its time to win an ODI series away from home - which they should do as their ODI team is on the up whilst Sri Lanka have come off a 5-0 walloping in South Africa.

Sri Lanka squad: Upul Tharanga (capt), Niroshan Dikwella, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera, Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Vikum Sanjaya Bandara, Thisara Perera, Sachitra Pathirana, Seekkuge Prasanna and Lakshan Sandakan.

I have a soft spot for Sri Lanka but come on, no Bangladesh player should look at that squad and be knocking at the knees.

Massive opportunity for Bangladesh. Looking forward to this series.

Hope to see Bangladesh play this XI.

I think, Mairaj was brought later to start (quite logical as well, several lefti in Lankan lineup), therefore he'll start. Rest 10 are almost automatic choice - only question mark could have been Soumya or Kayes; which I think is answered now.

Team should be like this tomorrow. 1.Tamim 2.Shomya 3.Shabbir 4.Shakib 5.Mushfiq 6.Mosaddek 7.Riyadh 8. Miraz 9.Mashrafee 10.Mustafiz 11.Rubel/Sanzamul(depends on pitch). Awesome team would be

Mashrafe Mortaza suspended for one ODI for second minor over-rate offence

The suspension was imposed on Mashrafe after Bangladesh was ruled to be two overs short of its target
Bangladesh’s ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza has been suspended for one match and fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees, for maintaining a slow over-rate during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday.

Andy Pycroft of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the suspension on Mashrafe after Bangladesh was ruled to be two overs short of its target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 and Appendix 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which deals with minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As Mashrafe had previously been found guilty of a minor over-rate offence during the first ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on 26 December 2016, this offence constituted his second minor over-rate offence within a 12-month period which has led to a suspension.

The suspension means Mashrafe will miss his side’s next ODI, which is currently scheduled to be in a three-nation tournament in Ireland in May 2017.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Michael Gough and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, third umpire S.Ravi and fourth official Ranmore Martinesz

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews will miss the remaining fixtures of Bangladesh’s tour after being ruled out of the Twenty20 matches starting in Colombo on Tuesday.

Mathews — who returned home in January halfway through the tour of South Africa after twisting his ankle — also missed Sri Lanka’s Test and ODI matches against the visitors.

Sri Lanka’s cricket board said in a statement Monday that Upul Tharanga would captain the side during the two-match T20 series this week, without revealing why Mathews was sidelined.

The board had expressed hope that the skipper would feature in the shorter formats of the game after he was held back from the two-Test series.

Sri Lanka drew both the Test series and the ODI matches 1-1. One of the three ODI games was abandoned due to rain.

Kusal Perera was ruled fit enough to join the squad, but will be replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Sandun Weerakkody should he be unable to play.

Sri Lanka squad: Upul Tharanga (capt), Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dilshan Munaweera, Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera, Isuru Udana, Dasun Shanaka, Vikum Sanjaya, Milinda Siriwardana, Asela Gunaratne, Seekkuge Prasanna, Chamara Kapugedara, Thisara Perera, Lakshan Sandakan and Shehan Jayasuriya.
