Bangladesh Test Series Schedule Revealed

Another packed season of international cricket will begin in northern Australia in August 2026 with Cricket Australia (CA) releasing the dates for the NRMA Insurance Men’s Test series against Bangladesh.

The Tests will be played in Darwin (Marrara Stadium, 13-17 August 2026) and Mackay (Great Barrier Reef Arena, 22-26 August 2026).

Test cricket returns to Darwin for the first time since July 2004 when Australia beat Sri Lanka by 149 runs.
More recently, Marrara Stadium has hosted Australia A matches including a four-day match against Sri Lanka and two T20 internationals against South Africa last season.

This will be the first Test match played in Mackay with Great Barrier Reef Arena having established itself as a significant international cricket venue.

Mackay hosted men’s and women’s international matches over the last two northern winters, as well as four-day Australia A matches against New Zealand and India in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

The NRMA Insurance Men’s Test Series against Bangladesh will be broadcast on Kayo Sports and Foxtel and Seven and 7plus.

CA CEO Todd Greenberg said:

“We’re delighted to bring Test cricket to northern Australia and look forward to a fantastic series against Bangladesh.

“It is no secret the international calendar is now crowded and we’re fortunate to have world class facilities available in August ensuring we have another window for Test cricket outside summer.

“Marrara Stadium and Great Barrier Reef Arena have been outstanding venues for international cricket in recent seasons and we’re grateful to the Northern Territory and Queensland Governments, Mackay Regional Council and our stadium partners for their strong support.”

Northern Territory Minister for Major Events and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby said:

“As we work hard to grow our visitor economy, events like international test cricket are catalysts – attracting visitors to Darwin from all over the world, filling our restaurants and pubs; touring our unique parks and sites; and helping to put the Northern Territory on the map.”

Queensland Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said:

“The Crisafulli Government is working hard to cement Queensland’s reputation as the events capital of the country, with Mackay set to host its first ever Test match as Australia face Bangladesh on home soil.

“Securing this Test is all part of our long-term Destination 2045 tourism plan as this event will not just attract international viewers through broadcast opportunities, it will draw cricket fans from across the world to Mackay.

“With the event slated to generate almost $2 million for Queensland, this is a massive event for Mackay as all eyes will be on the city and the action from the Great Barrier Reef Arena in August this year.”

Last time (and only time) BD played a Test series in Australia was back in 2003. Back when Steve Waugh was the captain.

They are returning to Australia for a Test series after 23 years. Nice.

Why Australia never invites Bangladesh? Do they know you brown nose them everyday here and takes pride in their performance?

Why should they invite? BD were never good enough to play a Test series in Australia.

Even this series is not an invitation. It is a part of WTC. :inti

I support Aussies in cricket since 2000. Big fan of their brand of cricket.

Strange timing it , Aus winters i guess more likely fringe players will play, nonetheless a huge huge opportunity for Bangladesh team

It is a part of WTC. Not a bilateral invitation. :inti

Definitely a good opportunity for BD. Also, a good for opportunity for Australia to rack up WTC points.

The Tests are scheduled to be hosted in Darwin and Mckay. These grounds rarely host international cricket.

What do you mean by not good enough? BD is a ICC Full member test side. So I find it very odd that likes of Eng and Aus never invites BD for a test series. There is a touch of racism in it I suppose. Then again likes of you loves gora skin and Aussies, so all good.

I don't think it is due to racism. It was because BD wasn't good enough.

Many Australian coaches have helped Bangladesh over the last 10-15 years. For example, Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiq, Mahmudullah etc. were nurtured by Dav Whatmore and Jamie Siddons (both are Aussies).

England invited Bangladesh in 2005 and 2010.

From SENA, New Zealand invite Bangladesh the most.

Ofcourse they will. As long as you pay money, they will even dance at Bangla wedding. I am sure many Brits/Aussies plays in BPL as well. However, when it comes to invite them at their own home, they wont do it. That is because they considers BD players some sort of sub human not good enough to play in their shores. Nothing explains why a full ICC member wont get invited for 23 years.

2003 is a very long time. I was in my mid school back then, John Cena just made his WWE debut, Concorde aeroplanes were flying and social media was not invented. So the excuse of BD is not good enough to not get invited since then in Australia dont fly with me. They aren't that bad either.

There is nothing called part of WTC. Only the finals is managed by ICC and rest is bilaterally arranged. So this excuse will also not fly with me.

This is a great opportunity for BD to do well and force Aus to invite them during their actual cricket season. Hopefully some posters here who su** up to the Aus team can see how they are treating an asian team as a second class team. Ideally BD should be invited to play in normal season and Adelaide or MCG. I may p*** on BD fans and team for their performance and attitude but won't stand for any team to treat them badly. This is exactly what India went through in 60s and 70s. Hopefully this kind of treatment stops and Aus plays everyone in proper season
