South Africa tour of Australia (2025) - 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs

Mark Waugh said 280 should be a good score and dew effect is negligible as per cricinfo.quite a big ground too

Have to wait and see. Even Breetzke felt they were 20 runs short. Not easy to hit over the top on this wicket .

Saffers should've preserved their wickets and continued to rotate strike until the last 5 overs on this pitch.

Amateurish batting from us once again.
Labu is done and dusted for BGT. No chance of him coming back now. Format is irrelevant. He cant buy a run in any.

Campbell kellaway, Green and Khawaja should be forwarded. No konstas for now. Konstas for when he is 23

As opposed to their scary T20 batting lineup, the Australian ODI batting looks paper thin.

Sa and common sense is oxymoron. None of the batters even relaize what to do after playing for so many leagues

One can argue that's his style .but he was rattled by that perfect bouncer.finally he seems to run out of his luck. Apart from one 50 in odi and in test , he did nothing this year.
Ball is now sliding on with dew. That Cam Green drop by Stubbs will haunt the Saffers

@Rana INGLIS IS what Pakistan fans always wanted Misbah to be lol.

Inglis usually does not perform if aus is winning but tends to play a blinder when aus is losing and pulls off a win.

Proper crises man this lad.

Even t20 batting line is rubbish on pitches that do something. Maxi saved them once on the same pitch that they faltered in one day.
I'd disagree. That lineup is tailor made for the T20 format. They are packed with powerful hitters and have the depth to keep going even after losing a couple of early wickets. Given the low probability of getting tricky pitches in modern LOIs coupled with generally smaller boundaries, the approach will work more often than not.

3 dropped catches so far by SA. They dropped Green on 0. They could have been well infront had they held on to their catches

I feel like inglis will play another england esc innings. He's captain clutch for this team
Tbh australia looks like minnow side bro england have the youngsters coming through likes of duckett brooks smith and you see australia marnus type players keep coming rinse and repeat australia right now playing odis like how pakistan is playing and pakistan beat this south african team 3 nil in their home with klassen and miller in it.

Its about the opposition bowling too. Last year Rauf created a havoc. This year they may face varun and Kuldeep. Especially We need to see them in sub continent.

They are struggling big time but not in t20. In odi and test

The T20 team will thrive there imo. Most of them already play the IPL and their brand of cricket will suit the tracks India and Pak put out for T20s. The ODI batting on the other hand seems rudderless. They are playing with 2 specialist keepers, and a non-specialist bat and totally out of sorts player at the key positions of 3 and 4. I don't follow Aussie domestics but surely there must be good middle order bats and a proper opener who could be groomed for these positions instead of these makeshift arrangements.

Australian players have alot of experience playing in the IPL. This isn't the same as touring India for a test series. Indian pitches in white-ball are generally flat and high-scoring, and Australia just won an ODI World Cup there two years ago. IMO Australia are sure-fire semi-finalists at next year's T20 World Cup.

Rest of the world better hope Australia have forgotten how to play ODI cricket until 2027.
They were not a good side even in 2023. One Good fielding saved them from losing to NZ. Few bad fieldings of Pak saved them from losing to pak. Then one fielding error from Afghanistan cost the the game.At oine point they were at the bottom of the points table. Things just went too perfect for them.

I wouldn't count on it. Not the first time we have seen Australia give wretched performances in bilateral ODIs prior to a World Cup.
They make less mistakes in big events. THat is what keep them going. The day teams stop making mistakes Australia will stop making even semis. Their team has been crap for a long time.

These may seem like little things to some, but these little things are the big things, and what differentiate the best from the rest. This includes your ability to handle pressure, take catches and just generally be professional i.e. making minimal mistakes. By the same token, things could have been different if Travis Head hadn't held onto that catch of Rohit, but he did, while those other teams you mentioned spilled crucial chances.

Australia are prone to making mistakes or playing bad cricket like any other team, but no team in that tournament excelled more under pressure than them. And that's why they won.

Yes. Their success in recent times more due to incompetence of the opposition rather than their own birlliance. Teams just choke. Make tactical errors. Also we kind put them on a pedestal when they lose bilaterals. They do play hard to win bilaterals as well. Just that opposition is under less pressure. That is why Australia is found wanting in bilaterals sometimes. Look at WTC final. SA destroyed Australia. Moment opposition stop making errors Australia will be facing the music.

NZ is the team that we have to watch out for in the coming years among SENA countries. England in a couple of years will be a force to reckon. Few are getting their feet wet. SA always produces great bowlers. It is Australia that is lagging behind in terms of producing bench strenght among SENA countries. Can't believe they still play Marnus in ODI game lol

Aussies collapse again as Ngidi's five seals ODI series for Proteas

South Africa have wrapped up their three-game ODI series over Australia with a game to spare

Lungi Ngidi's five wickets trumped Josh Inglis' excellent innings as South Africa took the second BKT Tyres ODI to seal the series in Mackay.

Ngidi, who delivered a decisive burst of 3-16 in June's World Test Championship final against Australia, was instrumental once again as the Proteas won by 84 runs on Friday night.

Chasing 278 to win, Australia's hopes rested on Inglis who hit 87 from 74 and put a difficult series behind him and register his highest international score on home soil.

But Ngidi removed the Aussie top scorer caught behind on his way to a haul of 5-42, which also included the scalps of Marnus Labuschagne and Aaron Hardie.

It marks five straight bilateral series victories for the Proteas over the Aussies to continue their ODI dominance over the reigning men's 50-over world champions.

As the chase began, Australia lost both their openers in near identical fashion as both Travis Head and Mitch Marsh were caught after skying front foot pull shots off the SA quicks.

Marnus Labuschagne fell to a dismissal that will feel all-too familiar for the Queenslander, caught behind after Ngidi got the new ball to move slightly away from the right-hander.

It left Australia at 3-38 and, like the first ODI, in need of a rebuild early in their chase despite a run rate rising above six runs per over.

Cameron Green and Josh Inglis put on 67 to prevent Australia from another Cairns-like collapse, with Inglis appearing the aggressor while Green took the bulk of the strike from Keshav Maharaj, who dominated on Tuesday night.

Green had a life first ball with Tristan Stubbs having another sloppy night in the field.

He put down Green at second slip and would later drop Marsh at cover, taking his total number of misses across South Africa's T20 and ODI tour to five.

But Green succumbed to the relentless accuracy of Senuran Muthusamy and after doing 54 balls of hard work, hit a low catch to the bowler that was superbly taken millimetres above the pitch.

Inglis continued to be positive, continually using his fast feet against the spinners and going aerial against the pace.

As wickets fell around him, he continued to pepper the boundaries, showing his 360-degree skills with scoop and ramp shots.

But with his dismissal the Aussie tail succumbed quickly as the Proteas wrapped up the series with one game to spare.

SA stand-in captain Aiden Markram chose to bat first when he won the toss on what he said was a pitch that looked great for batting.

Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs were the two South African batters who looked completely at ease but both fell short of their centuries as the Proteas were bowled out in the final over for 277.

Breetzke looked set for the second hundred of his fledgling ODI career, hitting eight boundaries and two flicked sixes in his 78-ball stay.

He raced to his half-century with ease off 46 balls, his fourth consecutive score over 50 to begin his ODI career. He's the first player in the men's game to achieve that mark.

But he was the first of Nathan Ellis' two crucial wickets as Breetzke was unable to control an on-pace bouncer that landed in the hands of Alex Carey at deep square leg.

Stubbs had to do some batting with the tail as he relied more on running between wickets than boundaries (three fours, one six) in his score of 74.

The Aussie quicks were intent on bowling at Stubbs' chest and chin and it prevented the dynamic South African from ever being able to accelerate. He finished with a strike rate of 85.06.

Ellis also picked off dangerman Dewald Brevis for one, again forcing a miscued pull shot which on this occasion was held by Green.

At the top of the innings Xavier Bartlett, into the side in place of Ben Dwarshuis, had two wickets in his first three overs to continue his excellent start to his ODI career.

After collecting eight wickets in his first two matches, Bartlett removed SA's stand-in skipper Aiden Markram as the right-hander flicked a simple chance to Travis Head at midwicket in the second over of the day.

Two overs later he had the other opener Ryan Rickelton but had Josh Inglis to thank for it, who took a fantastic catch with a full-stretch dive to his left.

Aussie skipper Marsh kept chopping and changing at the bowling crease, allowing no spells of longer than three overs.

He got a fantastic return from his leg-spinners, with Adam Zampa and Marnus Labuschagne combining for five wickets.

Marsh needed to get 10 overs from Labuschagne, Travis Head and Aaron Hardie and even when the trio had completed that task the Queenslander was kept in the attack and grabbed the wicket of Muthusamy (4).

On roads they will beat the hell but on slow wickets am not sure. As Lanka will be the co host, sena teams may have to play a couple of games there.chasing against spinners should be the last option for any sena team in Lanka.

How big a deal is this for Aussies @Ice Man @mominsaigol ? Do they really care about these series or shrug it off?

Atm, there is a train of thought amongst the Australian cricketing fraternity to trust the process in this transitional period and the results will eventually take care of themselves.

I, myself am not buying into it as we seemed to have regressed in even the basic areas which was something we prided ourselves in excelling in previously.

I'd like for us to consistently reward the players who are actually performing in the domestic scene and see what is the best combination we can assemble going forward.

Hahaha . I was busy so not aware of this match. South Africa destroyed tullebaaz team with ease .

Australia downfall is already started and they are only producing tullebaaz player's

Head Tulla purple patches is over and now become useless player which he used too.

:kp

Selection and combination, both. Once Green starts bowling, they can play an additional batsman in that middle order.

Hardie should make it on his bowling alone and bat at #8, if he is good enough.

Some chatter over here we may drop Webster in tests once Green starts bowling again. Bailey is playing with fire if that eventuates.

I saw that, what a stupid decision 🤣🤣. Webster is literally your best no 6 and one of the best batters at that position.

He and boland are by far the most underrated gems in world cricket atm and you wanna drop him for green?

Why not Play Green at 3 and Webster at no 6? Whole green is not a no 3, he is immensely talented and honestly should transition into a full time batter.

Green was always rubbish in bowling anyway.

Here comes the person who claims to live in Australia, but has no clue about Australian culture. Probably lived in a detention centre 😂😂😂
@Vikram1989 will block anyone who remotely addresses him in a somewhat negative light and will stop responding but will typically ping others to attack while making fun of them but not actually pinging them. What a coward poster. Not to mention the amount of times he will report and try to nuke comments 🤣.

On the rare occasion he does manage to respond he will spam the word 2 faced liar or troller stroller whatever that means in repeat.

Theirs a reason I put 10 + 1 cheerleader people in the 🤡 gang (Jnaveen, AbFan, Devad, Rajdeep, Human, Jeet, Meso, Uppercut, PakFan, Saimayubera), with Vikram being the cheerleader.

Each of them are racist + trolls + overseas hypocrites claiming to be patriotic + reporters and crybabies + abusers + Memes.

Devad as CEO so you can add poor communication skills + Uneducated + First job tome travelling railway to the list as well .
