South Africa tour of Australia (2025) - 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs

The 4 semifinalists in the 2027 World Cup are going to be from amongst India + SENA .

Australia can easily break into the semis and then it's about 2 good days.

They won't struggle at all.

There's just no competition considering the other teams like PAK, SL, WI , AFG won't offer any significant threat.
My prediction is that Australia won’t qualify for semis in 2027.

I am also 100% sure they are not winning it. The next set of Australian pacers are mediocre and most of the batsman are hit or miss. Travis Head won’t really be that big of a threat in 2 years as his reflexes will go down and he doesn’t have a good enough technique to make runs without them.

Nz has a better team than Aus, SA and Eng team will also be better.

The next couple of years are going to be their worst years since that 2010-2014 period.

Not trying to troll or anything, this is my honest take.

Without Starc, Hazlewood, Maxwell, Smith, Warner,Stoinis, Australian team isn’t going far especially considering their replacements are average.

England ODI team is losing anything and everything and languishing at the bottom of the rankings.

Yet Australia won’t make the 2027WC semis

They will do better with Wood, Archer, Atkinson back in the attack.

Unlike Australia, England has a great batting talent pool. They can easily replace Roy, Stokes, Bairstow etc with Brook, Smith, Bethell. Root will also be there as there number 3.

@mominsaigol I'm just glad we won or else like our forum expert on all things Australia (lol) said the Australian media doesn't show any cricket news when we lose a cricket game.

I must have been imagining us losing the ODI series to SA being a hot topic/all over the news over the weekend 😂😂😂

Mark Wood at 37 especially when he sucked even in 2023?

And no, it is yet to be seen whether they can "easily" replace the guys you mentioned.

England need ultra flat decks for their batting to work, if at all.

South Africa's pitches, apart from maybe Jo'burg and Centurion , won't suit them at all.

These guys have done nothing in ODI cricket since 2019 World Cup

Top three tons set up crushing Aussie consolation victory

Australia bounced back with a thumping 276-run win in the ODI series finale against South Africa

Australia's top three created their own piece of history under the baking sun in Mackay to launch the hosts to a comprehensive consolation victory in the third BKT Tyres ODI.

Centuries to openers Mitch Marsh, Travis Head and No.3 Cameron Green catapulted Australia to a mammoth 2-431, their highest ODI total on home soil and second largest overall.

It's the first time in a men's ODI that Australia's top three batters have all made individual hundreds and only the second time in history (after South Africa in 2015).

Even on a flat Great Barrier Reef Arena pitch it was too tall of a task for South Africa, who fell a whopping 276 runs short and were bowled out in the 25th over.

Despite an almost faultless 250-run opening partnership, the story of the innings turned out to be Green's maiden century in the format which came off 47 balls.

Coming to the crease in the 35th over, Green had a licence to be aggressive from the outset and got busy with his running between wickets while the set Marsh got to his milestone.

Green was 44 off 27 balls when he saw a match-up he liked; Kwena Maphaka with the short boundary to Green's leg side.

The towering allrounder reached a 28-ball half-century with his first six over midwicket and repeated the dose two balls later after picking Maphaka's slower ball.

Maphaka was back into SA's XI to round out an inexperienced bowling attack, missing Kagiso Rabada (ankle) and Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi (both rested).

Two overs later Green was hitting to the same side, this time off spinner Senuran Muthusamy.

After punching the third ball of the over to the point sweeper, Green declined the run and sent Alex Carey back to the non-striker's end. The bold call paid immediate dividends, with Green

Green finished with eight sixes in his knock which was the second-fastest hundred by an Australian in men's ODIs.

It eclipsed the speed of Head's hundred 90 minutes earlier by a whopping 33 balls and made Marsh's (off 105 balls) look pedestrian.

But both were top knocks in their own right.

Head and Marsh had Australia off to a flier after the skipper chose to bat for the first time in his international career, racking up 70 runs in the first seven overs.

The pain didn't abate from there for the visitors though, as the Aussies turned their 86-run Powerplay into a double-century opening stand.

Head, who had totalled only 59 runs in his five innings prior to tonight, took some guidance from the playbook of Josh Inglis and peppered the straight boundaries.

Inglis revealed on Friday night he made a conscious effort to stop playing too square of the wicket and Head, always so lethal when given width, hit all bar 19 of his runs in front of the wicket.

The South Australian finished with 142, narrowly falling short of his third 150-plus score in ODIs.

Marsh was out for an even 100 a few overs later, hitting Muthumsay straight up after attempting a slog sweep for the first time in his innings.

It was a controlled knock from the stand-in skipper, who was keen to take advantage of the shorter boundary towards the clubhouse side of the ground, which measured only 64m to the rope.

Marsh's hits inside-out over cover were the highlight of his fourth ODI century, dispatching both spin and pace over the off-side ring to keep SA captain Temba Bavuma searching for alternate plans.

Carey's dynamic 50no off 37 will unfortunately be lost to history somewhat but was vital in lifting Astralia to their highest score on home soil.

The Green-Carey partnership was worth 164 runs from 81 balls with the Mackay crowd finding more voice with each ball that passed the rope in the sunset hour.

South Africa's chase never got going with the returning Sean Abbott picking up the wicket of Aiden Markram in the second over of the reply.

The Proteas had no option but to attack with a required rate of above eight-and-a-half from the outset and lost four wickets inside the Powerplay.

From 4-50 Dewald Brevis played with complete freedom and huge back-to-back sixes off Xavier Bartlett had memories of his blistering 125no in Darwin flooding back.

Adam Zampa copped three big sixes from the 22-year-old tyro, but Brevis' innings came to a close on 49 off 28 when he failed to clear Green on the long on rope.

It was the second of five wickets for Cooper Connolly, included tonight in place of Aaron Hardie, who impressed with his left-arm spin.

He benefitted from some lusty hitting from the SA lower order but he bowled to his field and profited with his maiden five-wicket haul in professional cricket.

Labuschagne didn't bat after sliding down the order but took two fantastic grabs at long on, one diving forward and one leaping narrowly inside the rope.

The Proteas were bowled out for 155 as Australia sealed their second-largest runs victory of all-time in men's ODIs and sunk South Africa to their biggest defeat in the format.

The result in Mackay rounded out an extremely closely-fought series between the nations, with South Africa winning the ODI series 2-1 and Australia claiming the T20s 2-1.

Australia's next assignment is a three-match T20 series in New Zealand at the start of October, while South Africa fly straight to the United Kingdom tomorrow for three ODIs and three T20s against England starting on September 2.

In sa second batting under lights is quite tough too.in 2003 wc, eng batted first against pak in Durban and won.they lost against us chasing at same place. Target was almost same in both cases.Later Nasir cried a lot saying india was lucky with toss but he conviently forgot the pak match.2003 atg aus team will not worry about toss but this team along with rest of the teams needs a bit of luck.I will say India, nz, sa may be better equipped with few classical batsmen. Eng, aus , pak will need some luck going in their way for 4th spot .

Australia just need to find 2 quality stabilisers in that lineup for tough wickets and they're golden.

Smith and Clarke did that in 2015 and Smith and Labuschagne did that in 2023.

Last time when india had a series against sa in sa , it was a dog fight for every run.Aus needs to find a couple quickly as odis are quite few now.Their test team and t20 team dont have any sort of that new technically equipped batsmen. Webster is decent but not sure against the good spinners. Green have a long way to go .

Yes. Not all the wickets in SA are run fests. But it's ODI cricket. They've understood this format better than the rest of the world for the last 40 years.

But yeah they need to find those 2 batsmen quick. Once they do, it may be BAU.

Australia was a mid tier team prior to 2019 WC and 2023 WC, yet they went onto Semifinal and Champion those years. Their teams start to look drastically different during tournaments.

Their bowling will look significantly weaker now, but these Bartlett, Abbott, Hardie have other tricks of their own as they are all more or less bowling allrounders. Then these guys Cameron Green, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, beasts!

People seem to forget that Australia always elevates themsleves in odi world cups.

They have never been a good CT, t20 wc, wtc side but their odi wc ability is off the charts.

However they are still beatable in odi wc. But a semi final spot is 99% booked for aus

So 400+ is still possible in the new rule era

There goes the dreams of Misbah/Rizwan+ Sui gas mentality fans like @Kianig89 and @Ahmed216 @Major @gazza619 who were hoping Rizwan style rubbish batting is still relevant today.
You need to realise bro, Travis Head and Cameron Green, the way they are batting is reckless. These tullas have no future.

That is why Rizwan is an important member to this team. He has the technique, the insane temperament and the grit to stay out their.

You will never see Rizwan play a reckless shot or even raise the bat to begin with.

You exactly know who PCB are.
Maybe but Rizwan's 0% t20 win record and an absolute comedy of a NZ/SA tri series, WI odi series and CT is grounds for termination.

CT is one thing, its a tournament so no issues, NZ losses are fine as Sa series and tri series matches were won and so was aus beaten.

Wi was the final nail in the coffin though.

Recent losses were down to Hesson and his love for bits and pieces allrounders.

Riz needs to up his game no doubt but working with an ordinary coach with an ordinary mindset doesn’t help.

Riz had an ordinary series with the bat. Every player goes through a bad patch.
What was Aqib's fault in the NZ series where Pakistan lost 3-0? And the CT which Pakistan botched at home? And the Tri series which Pakistan botched at home?

What are all of Aqib's faults and none of Rizwan's faults?

I thought we were discussing Riz. Why are you confusing the conversation by now talking about Aqib.

Because for you guys the issue is everyone but Rizwan, and the solution is no one but Rizwan.

Im sure it was you and others like you who shifted the blame from Rizwan to others such as Aqib before Hesson took over. The same Hesson who just recently beat the West Indies side 2-1 in T20i before Babar and Rizwan returned.

We Pakistanis have a love for change. I must warn you that the alternate options will take the team down the drain pretty fast.

You are not Amitabh Bachan. You dont need to give me warnings considering how off the mark your cricket views have been.

"down the drain pretty fast"....

So how slow did Rizwan bring Pakistan down the drain?

some beautiful shots in that century. Quite a few ‘hits’ under his belt now.
Mitch Marsh isn't a hit or miss player. He is a fabulous player. Not every player is meant to be an atg.

The difference between indian and Australian players is that Aussie players despite not having stats like sachin, Kohli and many others are typically responsible for wc wins.

Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitch Marsh, Gilly, Ponting, Travis Head, Warner and many others have won actual tournaments and trophies.

Granted in recent times india has improved and is catching upto aus. But itll still take India 20+ years to reach their main Odi wc tally.

Australia is also the only team to win one icc tournament across each format (Wtc, CT, Wt20 and WC).

2021 t20 wc is thanks to Marsh's knock and he played a huge role knocking Pakistan out of the tournament in wc 2023 alongside Warner.

Marsh is similar to Janes faulkner, doesnt have good stats but has contributed to actual tournament wins for his team.
