Bangladesh U19 tour of Pakistan 2022

To be honest it's utter pathetic that after all that investment we are unable to dominate BD U19 at home , infact we are losing to them.

This result was inevitable when you pick an ODI team based on t20 performnace. Salman Butt has been saying this since days that the best u19 ODi player has not been selected just because he didn't score in the t20 league. ODI require different temparament and skills compared to t20s. Surprsied that beng a cricketer Ramiz cant understand this

The PJL talent on display was horrendous to say the least, probably 70% of the players we saw have their first season with the hard ball , we had gentle medium Pacers who bowled at 123-130k who were actually coached pretty good and able to move the ball both ways and we had brigade of darters who called themselves spinners but apart from Couple of them none actually knows how to turn the hard ball

We literally couldnt judge the quality of batsmen when the level of bowling was abysmal but now we can judge those pathetic batsmen against decently talented BD U19

dont see the point of odi under 19 games, its like the last format anyone aspires to excel at.

Results are totally irrelevant at the U19 level. Give as many players a chance as you can and hope one or 2 become very good.

Stop this rubbish- these are kids, some will become good, most will fall by the wayside. Its the way U19 Cricket works otherwise we would end up another 150 cricketers coming into the system ever year. Your posts are just plain silly and show no knowledge of how age group cricket works.

Nothing to do with international quality players , I am talking about the process here , if you are investing in something and paying top dollars to the upcoming talent and enhance their skills with proper coaching and high pressure tournaments atleast you are supposed to be dominating a team like BD U19 at home , nothing to do with whose going to make it and whose going to fade away , I am just talking about a process and it's end product which is definitely not up to the standards, I think your view is very narrow-minded that's why you find my post silly, but hopefully now you will understand after this elaboration.

I seriously don't understand how BDU19 pumps up wins consistently and then you have the senior team, losing day and night.

I remember specifically that Shoriful kid. He was hammering our batsmen with verbal abuse and did quite well to lift his team to their first WC title. But in international cricket, he is just another bowler. Their skills don't seem to go upward and start to get stagnant.

Simple - we do not have a good domestic structure and poor approach to coaching and team selection.

Our pitches and umpires in domestic level is a farce. Our local coaches have backdated mentality and demotivates batsmen who try to play unique strokes, takes a more aggressive approach while leggies and mystery bowlers are asked to run away.

We had a folk named Aminul Islam Biplob who bowled leggies and had some moderate success in the national team but he soon got dropped for no reason whatsoever. This is how we treat leggies in the national team, imagine how things are in our domestics.

There was a time when we would sit in excitement thinking about how much talent we might have for the national team. BD U19 teams would have been followed quite a bit. However, we realized that a poor system and a lackluster sporting culture meant we will continue to struggle.

These days even our recognized List A tournament is subject to corruption and match fixing which was not the case in the past. Imagine a talent coming into bat and then receives a howler from the umpire because the opposition needs to win.

In another thread I talked about how their is no shortage of talent. I mean, if there was a shortage of talent would we be beating Pakistan U19 in Pakistan on our first tour? No. But it is immaterial because the same Pakistani kids will have great coaches like Razzaq, Mushtaq, Waqar to guide them, play in many domestic games and perhaps play in PSL which has surpassed BPL long ago and is among the best T20 leagues. These Pakistan contingent will produce the next Shaheen Shah, the next Naseem, the next Rizwan, the next Babar. We will produce the next Mosaddek, the next Sohan, the next Naim sheikh.

Why does it matter what the result is? Discovering talent is the name of the game and because of the PJL we have discovered some excellent young talent.

Don’t be alarmed.A defeat in bilateral match doesn’t mean Pakistan will not do well in U19 cup.Pakistan will raise it’s game when it matters.

You’re entitled to your opinion, even if it’s shockingly bad. These are young kids and the aim here isn’t to win but to see development.

Having read the scorecards, there are clearly a few standouts:

Arafat Minhas has performed in every match he’s played with both bat and ball.

Shawaiz Irfan, once’s he’s faced a few balls, has made a short staying impact.

Mohammed Zeeshan has been pretty impressive

Tayyab Arif has added runs in almost all games

Saad Baig has has scored in some games.
