Batsmen who are more talented than Virat Kohli?

Right now KL Rahul is only good at unlocking his phone and taking selfies. :inti

He is where Nero was Matrix 1, most of it. He knows not what and who he is and what he is capable of. He could be the only batsman ever who has limitless talent.

Rahul comprehensively beat Kohli in terms of Avg/SR/Total Runs in IPL 2018.

Does Rahul care about the critics who think IPL performance is meaningless? Probably not, as he laughs on his way to the bank to check how many more crores his balance has grown by.

How about the Don himself, Mr. Bradman. Also, surprised that no one has mentioned Barry Richards yet. Unless this is for cricketers who are alive.

Quite honestly, at least half of all Pakistani men are more talented than Kohli. It is just that they haven't been given proper training, or they just have better things to do than waste their time learning to play cricket.

batsmen like ? I guess Fakhar and Babar can be (still though cant say about Babar) but cant take any other names...

Don't care about talent. Cricket is about delivering. If you cant deliver with your talent for a sustained period of time, there is not point in calling yourself talented. I would say the answer is no. There is no one as talented as Virat is. Talent does not only mean natural ability, it means match awareness, hard work, dedication, striving to improve etc. I don't see anyone doing that so consistently in all 3 formats like Kohli does. End of topic.

I don't know how talent can be quantified. How do you measure something like that? It's basically your opinion

Based on performance and numbers, no batsmen is more talented than VK

KL Rahul. You just need to look at his stroke-play, he is a batting genius interms of pure talent. Kohli was quite boring when he first made his debut.

Speaking of talents, I am watching young Shubman Gill bat right now on Hotstar, in the Deodhar trophy. He's just cover driven Ashwin for 4, and it was more Kohli than Kohli himself. It's astounding how exactly like Kohli this Shubamn Gill is, the wrist work being the stand out feature in both.

Gill is going to serve Indian cricket for a LONG time. Remarkable cricketer in the making.

A superbly compiled 106 n.o. for Gill, masterminded the tricky chase not unlike Kohli himself. His last 10 list A scores read - 106 n.o., 36, 77, 73, 53, 40, 36, 24, 115, 66 n.o.

Not long before he forces his way into the senior team.

In all seriousness:-

1. KL Rahul
2. AB de Villiers
3. Evin Lewis

These 3 batsmen are more talented than Kohli with the bat.

Rahul is by far the most talented batsman of this generation. Cricket has not seen a player like him since Sachin's phenomenal 90s days.

Evin Lewis? Really!

Are you confusing shot making ability with talent?

Kohli can hit as many shots as Rahul and Lewis (Talking mainly abt ground strokes), he is the best becz he doesnt and knows his risk vs return concept by heart. He plays all his shots when needed.

He doesnt play for the gallery, his focus is just to make his team win and that is why he has outragius numbers bcz he never thinks he has done enough and takes every game as a new game which is there to be won for his team.

No doubt Kohli is one the best that has played the game but what sets him apart from many others that had similar abilities is that he is very driven. There are very few soft dismissals when he bats.

Talent is an overated, subjective and confused word

As a 19 year old, Gill is decidedly more talented than Kohli was at the same age. Kohli's genius lies in how he managed to better himself every year. This has been Kohli's biggest talent so to speak, not allowing himself to stagnate.

Gill has a mountain to climb in that sense.

Talent is difficult to describe, I would probably narrow it down to shot making ability and how at ease players look at the crease.

Shot making ability is not just having a wide array of shots or big hits; it also about timing, poise, grace etc.

Among his contemporaries, de Villiers, Buttler and Root are three batsmen who I believe could have been even better than what Kohli is today had they been blessed with the same tenacity and drive.

Lol what? Not interested in his bank balance here. He can be the richest IPL cricketer on planet but that doesn't mean he is the best in the world. I mean who can take a league like IPL seriously where fans and owners worship Jaydev Unadkat?

Real cricket fans care about performances in international cricket. At the moment Rahul can laugh all he wants and count the money because he has too much free time in the ongoing series against West Indies. :inti

We can only look at his stroke play once he decides to spend more time on the wicket than pavilion. :inti

Some players like KL Rahul try too hard to copy Kohli. Although most of them succeed only in copying his looks. They can't even imagine the kind of dedication and hard work he has put in order to become the best in this world. If they want to become the next Kohli they better start putting a price on their wicket. :kohli

There maybe more talented batsmen than him but then its his professionalism, strong mindset that makes him different from everybody else he is truly an ATG!

Talent combined with dedication, intelligence and a fire in the belly is unstoppable. The guy is freakish

I assume because Your Majesty says so and defines what is "real cricket fans", the rest of us hoi polloi must now believe it to be true.

It applies to all walks of life. Even in studies, just having a sharp brain will not take you too far. Need to have discipline, motivation and hard work as well. Lesser minds with hard work can go farther than sharper brain with lazy attitude.

You know how desperate you look when you bring financial stats of a cricketer instead of his cricket stats to support him in an argument? But I am not surprised because only fans like you can support a cricketer with a good bank balance and average performance. :viru

Logic isn't your strong suit, which leads you to make silly statements such as "I mean who can take a league like IPL seriously where fans and owners worship Jaydev Unadkat?" IPL fans like fans everywhere else root for players who perform. And IPL owners pay players they expect will perform.

There is nothing average about Rahul's IPL performance in 2018, it was far superior to Kohli's.

While you may not like IPL, I am willing to bet my house that if someone gave you a million dollar IPL contract, you would try your hardest to play you best.

Smith followed by Warner

If by talent you mean the quality & elegance of stroke making, then Smith does not fall under that list - his shots are so freaking ugly to look at. Smith’s thing is his tremendous hand-eye co-ordination & ball placement. Warner is a complete hack & FTB, another Sehwag - Neither of them are more talented than Kohli.

Well they had a potential of being GOAT however I still think that Smith still can be competitive after his return. I know the fact that Smith got some ugly techniques but when it comes to runs on the board I don't think strong making would be a matter there.

LOL.. KL is already a better T20 player because of his ability to bat at a higher strikerate. Maybe Kohli should learn from KL on how to hit few sixes.

He is welcome to replace Kohli in T20 cricket as captain, or maybe even as a player. Just need Kohli for Tests and ODIs.
