I open the batting and my problem is footwork and following through on offside shots like the drive, also my cut shot is non existent. My legside game is perfect, just when you come up against good bowlers hitting top of off stump consistently i struggle.

I just wanna know if anyone has got any tips to improve my footwork and any ideas or methods to improve my offside shots.

cheers. :dav

I had this problem but I sorted it out.
Drive:
You need to work on your balance. I would generally extend my front foot , lift your back foot (it should be on your toes ) and try to get to the pitch of the ball (you should move according to the line of the ball). I would ask slow bowlers to bowl offside after you feel comfortable ask faster ones to bowl outside off stump and practice drives. Try to get in the line of the ball and once you do that you will not miss the ball.

Cut shot:
This will require lot of practice mainly because you need to shift your weight on to the back foot and try to get on top of the ball and hit it (Don't try to smash the ball play delicately). The problem is after playing lot of shots of front foot body will not move back. I would generally practice couple of front foot drive and cut shots with my bat (not ask anyone to bowl)and watch my shadow to see how I am doing and then go to bat.

Dont premeditate watch the ball and play appropriate shot.
