I saw Rahat first time in 2012 - got a bit excited to see a pacer around 24/25 with pace & swing. After a closer look, got what I had to know. You have to add 4 to 5 years unfortunately
Doesn't matter what's actual age is, as long as it's factored in the selection process. As I mentioned several times - Imran's bowlers used to mature at tender age, Aquib at 16, Ata 17, Waquar 17, Wasim 17, Maqsood Rana 18, Salim Jafar 19, Zakir Khan 18, Mohsin Makal 19 ........ & they lost their appetite early, retired from cricket by early 30s. Sometimes even in 20s. More or less BCB does the same these days - by 32-33 you are shown the door, if you are a pacer; and you hardly debut after 25-26.
This is no issue, as long as you get the best 12 biological years of a cricketer - that's between 23 to 35 - your scouting & selection should adjust accordingly to figure out when biological 19 & 23 starts. Problem is, PCB selectors are debuting youngsters at 25/26/29 even 33 these days - hence they start to huff & puff after 1st spell, even before settling in International cricket. More alarming & irritating is that, still people posts here in PP, that in last 5/6 years it has been absolutely perfect - so Sami Aslam must be 21 now, Asghar is 18 ............... & Zia Ul Haq 23
