Beating Sri Lanka: The definition of false hope

The same tri-series and what not on Indian highways I'm sure India will do just fine no matter who they play. Outside of these flat tracks tho they'll get found out as always. Tbh can't believe ppl actually watch this rubbish. Flat tracks. Shorter boundaries. Two new balls. Harsher fielding restrictions than even T20s. Add more power plays to that as well. Might as well use a bowling machine and play 11 batsmen. It just ain't cricket.

No matter how flat the wicket is a beating by 150 odd runs is pretty much indicative of the SL odi team right now. Ageing Jaya, sang a,dilshan, average bowlers including the past it Malinga. I'm pretty sure we can beat you anywhere at this point of time.

Nah SL have been playing some good cricket the past year or so. Beat you guys in T20 WC final, Asia cup, more or less even stevens in the WI tri-series and CT semi would have been interesting as well had it not been for a pathetic win the toss win the game sort of wicket. The guys were on a well deserved break after playing non-stop cricket for about a year so they are bound to be rusty initially. This series is absolutely pointless anyway. Obviously it was organised for one rea$on and one rea$on only. Neither team can really take any thing positive out of playing on these highways. My concern is more about players picking up serious injuries right before a WC year. Flat wickets and fast outfields combo is a good way of picking up nasty injuries. SL also have a long pointless home ODI series against Eng coming up after this. Hopefully most of those get rained out at least. Otherwise by the time the WC comes around players will most likely be completely burned out. SLC are absolute morons.

What are we learning from this series at all? :39:

And who are the tossers who're turning up to watch this in the ground? Perhaps if they stopped coming the BCCI will stop scheduling games against Lanka for a while...

We shouldn't have invited SL to play. Already we have been playing them every month or so for the past 5 years. Enough is enough already. We should have just given rest to the players or played some competitive teams.

I think we genuinely need different pitches Umesh bowled well today but how many kids will aspire to be bowlers after seeing this.

I was talking mainly about Tests but even in ODIs he's our kryptonite. Don't forget Malinga also played and despite Hafeez hammering him the rest couldn't do so.

Better and well prepared sri lankan teams have lost series in india. This time they didn't even know 1 month before that this series is going to happen. They were looking disinterested. Sri Lanka were in good form this year in all formats of the game so this was their first poor series of the year.

Are they still rusty?

Don't think SL will care much about this series. It was always gonna be a beat-down.

they shouldn't. sl just doesn't have the batting fire power to take on india on flat tracks.

this series loss doesn't take away anything from our beat down of pakistan in tests. 1. it's a different format 2. we absolutely smashed them

Here we go again.

Wait until the South Africa tour for us to be brought back to earth.

After you started this thread in 2013 we lost the test series in South Africa, lost in NZ, lost in England then lost in Australia.

This time round we have South Africa next, England away in 6-7 months time then Australia away in 12 months time (with some home tests in between). We’ll soon find out if we’ve made any progress given the tough tours ahead.

Varun was correct (twice).

But even a rabbit knows this.

I don't even think series against Lanka generate that much money - don't know what purpose it serves.
