What a shameless besharam individual. Is this our new PM?

==

Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), remarked on Friday that “beggars can’t be choosers” during an appearance on Geo News Program.

The anchor, Shahzad Iqbal, was asked about Khawaja Asif’s comments that “we can’t exist without America” and that “America is our ventilator” during a broadcast. The United States of America would have us on our knees if they launched any steps action against us.

The question is, how will relations be maintained on an equitable level if we are driven to our knees without the assistance of the United States.

According to Shehzab Sharif, the entire nation was struck by surprise when he claimed that beggars had no loves or dislikes, which he believes is correct. Rather than engaging in war with anyone, we must focus on providing food for our people.

We must refrain from engaging in hostilities with anyone or any group of individuals. Shehbaz Sharif added that because we are a country that is fighting for its own survival, we do not need to raise anti-immigrant chants against any particular group.

Think he may want to ask his Big Bro why we got to this stage.

"Chor-e-Pakistan"

Shameless as they come.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday hit back at Prime Minister Imran Khan over his allegations that opposition was part of a “foreign conspiracy” to topple his government through no-confidence motion.

Addressing the media in Islamabad, Shehbaz said PM Imran was not ready to accept his defeat and involved in a “conspiracy” to divide the nation.

“Opposition will bury Imran Khan’s un-democratic thinking according to the constitutional means... he will be held responsible for hurling threats [at opposition leaders after voting on no-trust motion],” he remarked.

Shehbaz, who is also the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly, said PM Imran was taking a path that is against the Constitution and law of the country.

“If we want to live like a free nation, we have to break the begging bowl… I have always maintained that if there is no self-reliance then there will be no freedom,” he added.

He said that PM Imran was provoking his supporters and “henchmen” against opposition leaders and added that all lawmakers have the right to vote. “I hope that the right to vote will be given as per the decision of the Supreme Court.”

The PML-N president also clarified that his remarks that “beggars cannot be choosers” were wrongly linked to the United States.

“I have said this many times before… the independence of the nation is meaningless if it is not economically self-sufficient,” he remarked.

The next PM :)))

The future leader before even entering office is calling his 200 milliion people, beggars, lapdogs of White Westerners.

The irony of this statement is its only his brother who has been begging for help since hiding in the UK.

Shebaza is perfect example for the saying some american said; paisay wastay apni maa V vech de.

Ive got no words for you who support or vote for this traitor/criminal…..

Imran's biggest mistake was to allow Nawaz to run off to the UK.

UK refused to return him because he was weekly meeting his bosses in the west, awaiting for their orders on how and when to help regime change.

This bloke is the epitome of evil corrupt, sellouts imo.

When the ones that are supposed to fight are the biggest beggars in the country, and they rally behind theifs like Shahbaz, then what hope does Imran have?

COAS of napak fauj basically got the begging bowl out today.

«I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if they only knwew they were slaves
»- Harriet Tubman.

Just watched a very good vlog on YouTube on this topic.

Nothing will change as long as they live with this mentality. Shame on these people.

Shahbaz shareef will become PM and his son will become chief minister of Punjab. Can anything be worse than this in politics?

These people have called the Army all the bad names and yet this Army is now supporting them?

There is so much to say on this but we would only waste more time.

Indeed but they were fooled and ganja used Imrans compassion against him. It took 6 hours before they decided to let Mr platelets get lost.

But I think they will see a different khan now. Showbaaz is desperate to backtrack from this but this vid is all over social media and will be played endlessly during the elections. Same as the Kampay stuff.

With regards to the Fauj. To be honest if you really analyse Bajwas speech and I'm no fan of Mr neutral, he didn't say anything IK hasn't already. He actually went a step further and recognised Russias legitimate issues around Ukraine. You think the NSA of Pakistan Moeed yusuf didn't know about that speech? Of course he did.

There is a gross campaign to now cause a rift between the nations only national party and its national org.

In my assessment the fauj has told Khan donwhat you must without endangering the fabric of the country. They will sit back and watch the show now..no amount of cherry blossom is gonna save showbaaz now inmho..

I could be proven wrong but come Monday if Khan loses we will be in election mode because the PTI will resign en masse. Showbaaz and Co will be facing sedition cases as of Sunday as even if Khan loses he is still PM in a minority gov. He will set the election ball rolling.

SHEHBAZ SHARIF TERMS NO-TRUST MOVE REJECTION, VIOLATION OF CONSTITUTION

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan and his minions have violated the constitution, Pakistan Muslime League-Nawaz leader Shehbaz Sharif stated on Sunday.

He was talking after Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri ruled to reject no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan over having links with the foreign conspiracy.

The President dissolved the assembly after Prime Minister Imran Khan sent him a summary for it.

“Imran Khan has now came under the grip of Article 6,” Shehbaz claimed. “The house has proved that Imran has been defeated,” he said.

“There is no government in the country now and a gang of constitution violators have occupied it,” Shehbaz Sharif alleged.

“Imran Niazi is no more prime minister how can he use this constitutional authority,” he questioned.

“The constitution has been attacked to prolong the personal rule,” he further claimed. “The country has been pushed towards anarchy,” he said.

“The Chief Justice of Pakistan can save the country from the crisis, hopefully the Supreme Court will ensure supremacy of the constitution and save the country from breach of the constitution,” he added.

ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Imran Khan for imposing 'civilian martial law' in the country, terming his move "unconstitutional".

Addressing a press conference, flanked by PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F leader Asad Mehmood, he said that PM Imran Khan, along with his party members, have blatantly challenged the Constitution of Pakistan.

“April 3 will be remembered as a black day in the history of Pakistan,” he said, adding that PM Imran Khan imposed civilian martial law, while General Pervez Musharraf also took a similar unconstitutional decision on November 3, 2007.

He termed the four-year tenure of the former PTI-led government a period of “an individual government, totalitarian and fascist.”

On March 24, former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser granted leave to the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to the will of the House.

Recalling Sunday’s ruling of the NA deputy speaker regarding the no-confidence motion, he asked, “if Qasim Suri termed the motion as ‘unconstitutional’, why wasn’t it raised earlier?”

“PTI used Article 5 to prevent themselves from the embarrassment that they would have faced after their defeat in case of voting on the no-confidence motion,” Shahbaz said.
Shahbaz highlights flaws in 'foreign letter' controversy
Regarding the “foreign threat letter” controversy, the former leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly said that Pakistan’s Ambassador Asad Majeed hosted a farewell dinner on March 16 and invited all US officials, even those who were accused by PM Imran Khan.”

Moreover, he added that, in his tweet, Asad Majeed thanked Donald Lu over good relations and cooperation.

“If the letter was dated March 7 and highlighted the involvement of Donald Lu, why was the ambassador acknowledging the US official during the dinner on March 16,” he highlighted, questioning why Lu was invited for the dinner if had threatened Pakistan.

The PML-N leader said that if they had received the “foreign letter” on March 7, then “why did they not highlight this issue earlier.”

“According to the speech given by the former NA deputy speaker, all Opposition leaders became traitors,” he said, adding that yesterday’s NA proceedings made a joke of the constitution of Pakistan, laws and Parliament.

Regarding former information minister Fawad Chaudhry’s claims about challenging the speaker’s ruling, Shahbaz said: “It is right that no one can challenge the proceedings of the House but the Constitution was blatantly violated, does it have any protection?”

He said that the matter is in the Supreme Court and hence, “I will not talk much about it.”

Process to appoint interim PM 'violation of law, Constitution', Shahbaz tells President Alvi

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif informed President Arif Alvi on Wednesday that the Opposition does not agree with the suggestion of appointing Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed as the interim prime minister and that the process for the appointment issued by the head of the state was a “violation of law and Constitution”.

In a letter, Shahbaz confirmed to the president that he had received his April 4 message regarding the appointment of a caretaker prime minister.

The PML-N president informed President Alvi that the speaker’s ruling on April 3 on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan was a “blatant violation of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan" and the "Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business” of the lower house.

“The entire super-structure built thereon, including all consequential notifications relating to dismissal of the Resolution, advice of the Prime Minister regarding dissolution of the National Assembly, and continuation of the Prime minister in office are all illegal, without lawful authority and of no legal effect,” wrote Shahbaz.

The former Opposition leader also informed President Alvi that the Supreme Court is holding suo motu hearings on the National Assembly deputy speaker’s ruling.

He also shared the apex court’s ruling, stating that “any order passed by the prime minister and the president shall be subject to the order of the Court”.

“Thus process of appointment of caretaker Prime Minister started by you under Article 224(1A) of continuation in a hurried manner is simply to defeat the process of law and constitution without waiting for decision in sou motu case and petitions filed by combined opposition parties and other petitions challenging rejection of no-confidence resolution against prime minister and prorogation of requisitioned session of National Assembly by deputy speaker and consequent dissolution of National Assembly by prime minister, which are still pending adjudication before Supreme Court. Thus the start of the said process by you is not acceptable as it is violation of the law and Constitution and is subjudice,” said Shahbaz.

The PML-N president also said that Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed’s nomination as interim premier by PM Mr Imran Khan was a “blatant attempt to subvert the provisions of the Constitution and to pre-empt the decision of the Supreme Court”.

He added that all issues, including the violation of Article 244 and 224A at this point, are “subjudice” and informed the president that the Opposition does not agree with the suggestion of appointing Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed as the caretaker prime minister.

A poor statement by shebaz. You cant say that on tv.

But at the same time what he said is the hard truth.

Imran used to bash the past pm of takaing a beggers katoora to imf, and than imran did the same thing by his actions.

Thus, you can bash shebaz all you want that this guy will be the next pm, but the current pm did this by his actions and he himself said that taking money from imf is like taking your katora like a begger.

It only shows that when our favourtie person says or does somethinf we will ignore, and when the person we hate conforms to something we will bash him

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif likened interim prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, terming the ruling party’s decisions to dissolve the National Assembly and dismiss the vote of no-confidence as an unconstitutional power-grab.

“Nazi Hitler prevailed to dissolve the Reichstag [German Parliament] and thereby solidified his position by abrogating the Constitution and ending the Weimar Republic- Imran Niazi is doing the same in Pakistan,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at the Supreme Court premises, the PML-N leader stated that April 3 would be remembered as the day the Constitution was sabotaged and trampled upon, adding that Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s attempt to issue the PM a stay-order by dismissing the no-trust motion was unconstitutional.

The opposition leader claimed that Imran Khan acted through the deputy speaker to have the no-confidence motion dismissed and urged the National Security Council (NSC) to bring forth the minutes of the meeting regarding the diplomatic cable accusing the opposition of conspiring against the premier.

Shehbaz Shairf upheld that the opposition would challenge the unconstitutional actions of the ruling party on all platforms.

The PML-N leader harshly criticised the premier, calling him a "liar" and a "fraud", stating that the country could only be “saved” if the Constitution was respected.

Shehbaz hoped that the Supreme Court would protect the Constitution and provide a swift decision. “The entire nation is looking towards the apex court,” he added.

Referring to the PML-N’s Punjab Assembly “session” held on Wednesday at a private hotel, Shehbaz Shairf claimed that Hamza Shahbaz had been ‘elected’ as Punjab chief minister with 199 votes.

The opposition leader expressed his gratitude towards the Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan groups for their support.

Beggars cant be choosers - our next PM

Beggars can't be choosers; these begging people need dynasty rule on them.

There was a sense of pride within myself when I had IK as leader. It would feel terribly bad to have someone like Shahbaz taking over from IK. Polar opposite personalities both of them.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the united opposition will now give a "genuine surprise", and not a "fake one" on the day of voting on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday, Aaj News reported.

Addressing media after the Supreme Court announced its verdict, Shehbaz said he was thankful for the unanimous decision against the unconstitutional ruling of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri to disallow the no-trust motion.

He said that the apex court’s verdict not only upheld the Constitution but also ended political uncertainty in the country, besides upholding the Parliament’s sovereignty and sanctity.

The opposition leader declared the Supreme Court’s decision a big win for the united opposition and the 220 million people of the country, saying “together we will tirelessly work toward restoring the country’s economy, reducing inflation and poverty.”

Earlier, in a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court set aside the ruling issued by the deputy speaker on the no-trust vote against Prime Minister Imran and restored the National Assembly.

The court ruled that President Dr Arif Alvi's decision to dissolve the National Assembly was "illegal" and restored PM Imran as well as his cabinet.

The apex court also ordered National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to convene the session on Saturday (April 9) at 10:30 am, saying that the session cannot be adjourned without the conclusion of the no-trust motion.

"If the no-confidence motion against the prime minister succeeds, then the assembly will appoint the new prime minister," the court's order said.

The order further noted that the government cannot interfere in the participation of any lawmaker in the assembly session.

Applauding the Supreme Court’s verdict, the opposition parties on Thursday gave a call to the nation and their workers to observe thanksgiving day on Friday (today) and hold celebrations throughout the country over the ‘victory of democracy and the Constitution’ of the country.

Dozens of workers and lawyers belonging to opposition parties, who had gathered outside the Supreme Court (SC) building on the Constitution Avenue were seen celebrating and felicitating each other after the announcement of the short verdict by the five-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

A group of jubilant workers of opposition lit fireworks and raised slogans like “Wazir-i-Azam Shehbaz Sharif” and “Go Niazi Go” as the opposition leaders were seen coming out of the SC building one after the other with smiling faces and some of them making victory signs.

There was jubilation also in the Sharif camp in London as PML-N’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif watched the news at his son’s office in Stanhope House, flanked by former finance minister Ishaq Dar, his son Hussain Nawaz as well as other PML-N workers and supporters.

A number of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders and members of the Sindh cabinet, along with dissidents of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), also celebrated the SC verdict at the Sindh House where they watched the daylong events live on television.

Speaking at a news conference at the official residence of Shehbaz Sharif at the Ministers Enclave, the opposition leaders praised the Supreme Court judgment, stating that “the verdict will be written with golden words in the history”.

“This (SC) verdict has buried all the past judgments given on the basis of doctrine of necessity. Now no one will be able to use the doctrine of necessity till the dooms day,” said Mr Sharif.

He termed the verdict a victory for the 220 million people of the country, democracy, parliament and the Constitution.

Mr Sharif expressed the hope that the joint opposition would complete the next phases smoothly in line with the SC verdict.

Mr Sharif, who has been nominated as the candidate for the prime minister’s office by the joint opposition, said that the word “victimisation” did not exist in his dictionary. He said the opposition would break the NAB-Niazi nexus.

In reply to a question, Mr Sharif said if the PTI members decided to resign from the assembly, then it would be their choice but it would have no effect on the outcome of the no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In reply to another question, he said that they would consult and invite each and every party in the parliament for developing a consensus on electoral reforms.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) said that they were happy because they were standing at the right side on this important day of the history.

“Democracy is the best revenge,” said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while commenting on the SC verdict during a brief media chat at the Zardari House before leaving for Mr Sharif’s residence for a meeting of the joint opposition.

The PPP chairman said that through this verdict, the stains left by the 2018 elections had been washed to some extent.

He said now they would fulfil the promise of conducting free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

He asked the party workers to hold celebrations in every nook and corner of the country.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the SC had given a satisfactory verdict as per expectations of the people of the country.

Maulana Fazl said that earlier he had given a call to the nation to observe a protest day on Friday (today), but now they would observe a thanksgiving day.

He asked the people to offer Nawafil on the day over the SC’s historic decision which, he said, had saved the country.

Meanwhile, talking to Dawn in London, PML-N leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar praised the SC for upholding the Constitution.

“We were all together when we heard the judgement and then were flooded with telephone calls. We are happy the Constitution has been upheld and the right thing has been done by the court. He (Nawaz) appreciates this and so do I,” said Mr Dar.

“But while it is indeed something to celebrate, there is also a serious crisis in the country and a bigger challenge lies ahead,” the PML-N leader said.

Mr Dar said the SC had made the correct decision by saying the ruling of the deputy speaker was not legal, adding that the consequential actions were also not legal. “Now after the vote of no-confidence takes place on April 9, in the event of its success, the assembly has to elect a new prime minister.

The Supreme Court judgement has bound the speaker to follow this,” he said.

Pakistan Opposition party Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif demanded the postponement of the local government election in Balochistan in view of the political situation in the country, local news reported.

Sharif requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to postpone the local government election in Balochistan as the leaders from the province are busy in Islamabad, ARY News reported.

Notably, the ECP scheduled the local government election in the Balochistan districts on May 29. The Commission had decided to not hold the election in the Quetta and Lasbela districts of Balochistan due to new delimitations of the constituencies, according to ARY News.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, the Pakistan Supreme Court directed the National Assembly to conduct the no-confidence motion on Saturday.

The court set aside all the subsequent steps taken after the rejection of the no-confidence vote and reinstated the National Assembly.

It also declared that the Prime Minister and federal ministers, ministers of state, advisers, etc, stand restored to their respective offices as of April 3.

"The Speaker is under a duty to summon and hold a sitting of the Assembly in the present Session and shall do so immediately and in any case not later than 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, to conduct the business of the House as per the Orders of the Day that had been issued for April 3, and in terms, as stated in, and required by, Article 95 of the Constitution read with Rule 37 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly Rules, 2007 ("Rules")," the Supreme Court verdict said.

On the day of voting on the no-confidence resolution on April 3, the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri rejected the no-confidence motion against the government on "constitutional grounds", after allegations of a "foreign conspiracy" to topple Imran Khan's government were made by minister Fawad Chaudhary in the House.

This can be over in a few minutes if our crooks and establishment cooperate properly

Hand over nukes and missiles to the west and dismantle the whole network

Accept indian hegemony and godi ji and hindutvas as overlords and masters.

Then they will simply leave us alone I.e punjabis and sindhis

Usa would probably take resource rich balochistan and some northern areas and build bases to encircle iran and China.

They would let the rest of the country rot like sub saharan africa and rely on food aid and bill Gates pills and potions

LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif on Friday rejected PM Imran Khan’s claims of standing up for the integrity of the nation, saying “Niazi is only standing up for his petty, shallow political interests”.

Reacting to the prime minister’s address to the nation, Shehbaz said, “Niazi should stop lying to the nation and show them the so-called letter”. He alleged that in a desperate attempt to hold on to the slipping power, the prime minister was attacking the Constitution, parliament and the higher judiciary.

"In his speech, Imran Niazi has announced the joint opposition's victory in the no-confidence vote ahead of time. His lies about the so-called threat letter have been called out and now he was on a mission to mislead the people of Pakistan because he thinks they are sheep.

The deputy speaker's ruling was rejected by the court and deemed unconstitutional after a thorough inspection of the evidence,” he added.

Shehbaz said if the prime minister had the audacity to go to the public after creating inflation, unemployment, hunger and hatred, he was more than welcome to do so.

“Imran Niazi was rejected by the people of Pakistan and he came into power through meddling with the RTS system,” Shehbaz said, adding that the premier had completely “lost his mind” after being defeated in the courts and the parliament.

The PML-N president said PM Imran Niazi should face the no-confidence motion in parliament where the opposition would “expose his lies through their vote”.

In a tweet, he said that the no-trust motion was tabled at the “request” of 220 million people of Pakistan, and would prove to be an important milestone in bringing Pakistan out of the darkness of despair and problems.

Separately, it emerged on Friday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz was travelling to Islamabad to join the opposition in the NA on Saturday.

LAHORE: Dr Rizwan, an FIA official investigating into high profile cases against prominent politicians has stepped down and taken leave, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Dr Rizwan, Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab Zone I, who was heading probe teams into graft references registered against Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, his son and Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz as well as PTI’s disgruntled leader Jahangir Tareen, has resigned from his office and taken leave.

Deputy Director FIA,Nazia Ambreen, has taken charge of the office to replace Dr. Rizwan.

Dr. Rizwan’s leave begins from April 11 (Monday).

The FIA Islamabad has issued a notification in this regard.

Dr Muhammad Rizwan earlier served in Sindh Police. As SSP Shikarpur district, he had written a letter to IGP Sindh in February 2020 and alleged some senior leaders of Sindh’s ruling party and a provincial minister for hurling threats to him, his family members and his subordinate officers.

ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif said late Saturday that the joint Opposition — once it forms a government in the Centre — would not take revenge against their political opponents.

"...we thank everyone for their sacrifices, and now, once again, a Pakistan based on Constitution and law is about to come into existence," the PML-N president told the National Assembly after Imran Khan's ouster from the Prime Minister's Office, hoping that the alliance moves the country towards progress.

Shahbaz said this might be the first time in Pakistan that the country's daughters and sisters were sent to prison, but he maintained that he wanted to forget the past and move forward.

"When the time comes, we will speak in detail, but we want to heal the wounds of the nation; we will not send innocent people to jails, and we will not take revenge," Shabaz said, noting that the law will take its course without interference

"Neither I, nor Bilawal, and nor will Maulana Fazlur Rehman will interfere. Law will be upheld and we will respect the judiciary," Shahbaz said, thanking Sadiq for chairing the historic session.

"Jab apna qafla azm o yakeen se niklay ga, jahan se chahen ge rasta wohi se niklay ga, watan ki mitti airian ragrne day, mujhe yaqeen hai chashman yaheen se niklayga," Shahbaz concluded.

In a historic first for Pakistan, Imran Khan was ousted as the prime minister of Pakistan from office through a no-confidence motion after the NA debated on the matter for more than 12 hours and the political situation in the country took a critical turn.

The session was chaired by Ayaz Sadiq — a member of the panel of chairs — after speaker Asad Qasier resigned from his post.

"174 members have recorded their votes in favour of the resolution, consequently the resolution for the vote on no-confidence against Mr Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, has been passed by a majority," Ayaz Sadiq announced after the process of voting was completed.

Borrowing is different to lending. If Imran Khan just wanted to beg to the biggest loan shark, I'm sure he would have played a different game from the start.

I wanted to open a new thread about it but in the last PPP regime, when treasury was wiped up clean, Zardari started selling the ownership rights to whatever little assets that we had, namely the produce of our fertile lands to Arabs.

But right now, I think we are on the track of Ukraine. Pakistan’s nuclear program WILL be compromised for little money.

Folks can bookmark this post.

Let me do my part.

IK took a net of $10 Billion in 3 and a half years.

Current national debt is $116 Billion.

Now, do your part and please give us the breakdown of $106 Billion loans and tell how much of it was taken by PML and PPP combined, starting from Zia’s end era.

Do you even have the intellect to understand the question? I doubt it.

lol. You lot continue to spread lies.

According to State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan's total external debt and liabilities in 2018 were 29,861.2 Billion Rs. (https://www.sbp.org.pk/reports/stat_reviews/Bulletin/2018/Oct/DomesticExternalDebt.pdf). This has increased to 51,724.2 Billion Rs in December 2021 (https://www.sbp.org.pk/ecodata/Summary.pdf).

The average USD rate in 2018 was 121.57. Using this rate, to make the aforementioned amounts currency neutral, we had a debt of $245B when Imran Khan took over and this amount (using the same conversation rate) stands at $425B.

So in the three years PTI's government ruled the country out total debt and liabilities according to State Bank of Pakistan almost doubled.

Out of this, the external debt stood at $99.238B and currently stands at $130B (as of last quarter of 2021) (https://tradingeconomics.com/pakistan/external-debt). That's a 31% increase in 3 years. Look at the anchors reaction Says it all

And we had Imran Khan who says "Pakistan is a proud nation and its people will not bow before anyone except god"

Imran Khan also said "Our biggest problem is that we don't have enough money to run our country due to which we have to borrow loans" also while saying "Woh qoumien jo bheek mangte hien unki oi izat nahi karta"

I wonder who the new regime will choose to beg from? Not Russia, China or india would be my first guess.

Why would it be any different than what the previous regime did considering the added to the bulk of our total national debt (almost doubled it in the last 3 years), they and their supporters should be the last one to question where we get additional debt from.

See the thing is in principle Showbaaz was right and Pakistan indeed runs on borrowed money, but there is a line that must not be crossed when addressing your nation, and this was one of those moments.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan "cannot afford enmity" with the United States, adding Islamabad needed to develop good ties with the superpower.

The premier's statement about having the need to strengthen the relationship with Washington came during an interaction with the journalists on Tuesday evening amid the PTI's claims that the Imran Khan government was ousted under a foreign-funded conspiracy.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also said that though the National Security Committee's statement is very clear and there is no foreign conspiracy, he will consider forming a judicial commission on the cable controversy.

Regarding the terror attack in Karachi, the prime minister said the incident was "very harmful to the country”, adding that Pakistan will have to improve its security. He said he has instructed the interior minister to visit Karachi on Wednesday (today) and plan with the Sindh government on the safety of Chinese nationals.

The premier also said that he planned to hold a comprehensive meeting on security after his return from Saudi Arabia. When asked who he will meet on his three-day trip to the kingdom, the prime minister said he hoped to meet the Saudi leadership to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Criticising the previous government’s foreign policy, he said that Saudi Arabia had given oil on deferred payment to Pakistan, as well as deposited money with the central bank to help Pakistan’s economy; the PTI government had told Saudi Arabia “we can raise the issue of Kashmir without you”.

On the government’s plan to manage the economy and to deliver on other fronts, he replied that “it is a very difficult challenge but not impossible.”

When the prime minister was asked if he will bring the PTI back to parliament to ensure the role of an effective opposition, he said that the resignations of PTI lawmakers would first need to be examined to determine which member of the parliament was forced to resign and who did so voluntarily.

About the PTI’s planned marches and rallies, he said that his government did not believe in politics of revenge, but he would also not tolerate anarchy in the country. About the media, Sharif said he believed in the freedom of speech and that it was important for the media to highlight the mistakes of his government.

However, when asked if he would roll back the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, he said that there should be a difference between the truth and a lie. On a question about the appointment of the new army chief, the prime minister said that it would be done in accordance with the rules.

Depends on the nature of the debt. If it is money that will be used to reinvest in future projects that will bring in larger revenues, then that could be a good debt which is serviceable. If it's debt that will be used to fund PM's or some General's family property portfolio abroad then it is bad debt.

Every moment this guy is a PM of this country is a moment of shame.

We endured enough shame for the past 4 years. It is wonderful to see a proper PM again, someone who has actual experience and has served as an administrator before.

Over time, the difference between a former cricketer playing a cricket match in his head while sitting in the PM seat and an actual politician will be fairly obvious.

I love how PTI supporters have suddenly become aware of military corruption overnight after being “betrayed” by Bajwa. :91:

These supporters used to idolize the military not long ago and reacted strongly to the assertion that they are heavily involved in politics and corruption.

They are hypocrites. I remember the likes of Syed1 and Bewal Express used to say and convince themselves that army and pti are on the same chapter whenevr the millitary used its power on civil govt...

And now look at these fans.......

The problem is that even though i am against army influence on politics, but i will never side with pti fans because these pti fans are hypocrites and cannot be truated. If tomr some new army general says he will be supporting pti over other parties, these same soo called critics wont have issue with that.

Thus, point being, these cult fans are not angry that army has influences over pakistani politics. Infact, they dont care about this aspect. What they are angry is army is not siding them. Once its on their sides, they will be again harping about being on the same page.

Let them do their rona dhona, they have been newly ousted :), roona banta hai

A prope PM criminal that doesn't know which day of the week it is. How many UTurns in 2 weeks? How many more TTs in a week? I hear Maqsood Chaprasi is about to do a NS? As sponger that doesn't what halal earnings are, I am sure you worship him, to me and all right minded PKs he and his family are criminals

Actually it is good for future that common man is now bashing them openly and they are no more a holy cow in Pakistan otherwise in the past, a little criticism and next day you would see a press conference by DGISPR, where he would explain how some people are trying to bring Pakistan army's morale 'down' and damaging their reputation (lol). The simple fact is Army is the most corrupt (both morally & financially) institute of Pakistan.

But the main problem is, now suddenly a lot of PML(N) supporters have become pro military and pro Bajwa. You can see that on social media where they are heavily supporting the trends like "Istandwithbajwa". Now suddenly Pakistan Army has become their 'Aan, Baan & Shaan'. They should keep in mind that things can change again and in future, they may be on receiving end and should never forget that it was military which screwed Nawaz, not once but twice.

You mean one who can continue with the looting that his family started before?

The actual politician you refer to has come with unfinished business to get some more money in his pocket so yes he wont disappoint.

I was aware of corruption in the army at higher levels well before now, that is why I have always been a supporter of democracy - on the premise that it only takes one corrupt general and the whole country is at the mercy of enemies if he'll take their coin.

Perhaps you should try reading posts properly instead of donning payal and doing banghra to the dhanak dina dina coming from across the border.

Punjab will not be the only province to prosper in my govt: Shehbaz

Prime Minister assures participants of a rally in K-P's Shangla district of cheaper flour in the province

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday promised the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa that Punjab will not be the only province that will prosper during his government.

He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in K-P's Shangla district.

"I will make flour cheaper, sugar cheaper. I will urge that every shop sells flour at cheaper rates. If that's not possible for them then I will pay to make flour rates cheaper. Sindh, K-P, Balochistan will prosper. Punjab will not be the only province to prosper," Shehbaz said.

Shehbaz said that whatever he promises he delivers, unlike his predecessor who only made false promises to the nation.

"I will never lie to you… I will never make false promises. If I make a mistake I will ask for forgiveness. As long as I have strength, I will toil day and night for your prosperity," he added.

The prime minister said that former prime minister Imran Khan only made false promises and disappointed the nation for four years.

"What he will tell the nation? That load-shedding has increased because he was sleeping? I will ensure that everyone has electricity," he added.

PM Shehbaz said that the poor man suffers due to lack of medical facilities but he will change it during his tenure.

"I will make sure that people receive free medical treatment in K-P and soon across Pakistan. Expenses have risen… in four years they (PTI) took highest loans," he added.

He said that Pakistan has seen a lot of corruption these past four years and this is not the Pakistan our ancestors had envisioned.

"This nation was built on the sacrifices of our ancestors. They must be turning in their graves now because this is not the Pakistan they envisioned. Education is a basic right for everyone."

He said that the Almighty has blessed Pakistan with an abundance of natural resources but despite all of that, our children cannot go to school.

"Crying won't do anything, we need to act. Hard work, blood and sweat will ensure the label of beggar does not apply to us anymore," he added.

Shehbaz said that Pakistan will be a great nation one day but we will achieve it only by working hard, and not sleeping.

"We cannot beg endlessly... one day we will have to stand on our own feet," he remarked.

"I will ask K-P chief minister to decrease the price of wheat in the province. If he doesn't do that then I will sell my own clothes but make sure wheat price decreases in the province," he added.

Shehbaz said that wheat will be sold at the same price in K-P as it is being sold in Punjab.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also announced a Rs2 billion mega development package for speedy uplift of Shangla district during his address.

He said 132 KV grid station at Poran would be completed in three months.

He also announced construction of a medical college at Shangla.

The prime minister said that there would be no shortage of wheat flour in the province and asked the K-P government to facilitate and ensure the just distribution of Punjab flour to its people on a prescribed rate.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that his predecessor Imran Khan ruined the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and added that forensic audit of the CPEC projects carried out by the PTI-led government angered the Chinese authorities.

He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) in Lahore on Sunday, according to Express News.

CPEC remained dormant during most of the time of the previous government but lately there had been some progress after the last political regime brought in Khalid Mansoor as special assistant to the PM on CPEC affairs.

Pakistan could complete only three China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in Gwadar having value of over $300 million, as one-dozen schemes costing nearly $2 billion remained unfinished including water supply and electricity provision, according to the CPEC Authority.

PM Shehbaz in today’s media interaction expressed his resolve to effectively work over the CPEC and Riko Diq projects. He also reaffirmed resolve to maintain ties with all the brotherly nations and other countries on basis of mutual respect and mutual interests.

Press freedom

Speaking about challenges to press freedom in the country, PM Shehbaz reiterated that his government had no intention to put any restriction on freedom of media and expression.

The prime minister also assured that journalists would be provided with best possible protection against unwarranted actions under the PECA ordinance and other related laws.

He said that the ministry of law had already been tasked to review the PECA ordinance.

Praising the CPNE role for the freedom of media, strengthening of democracy, and evolution of democratic institutions in the country, the prime minister said that the government was keen to engage constructively with the CPNE and other media representative bodies for the protection of the rights of journalists and promotion of responsible journalism in the country.

During the meeting, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Secretary Information Shahera Shahid, Principal Information Officer Mobashir Hasan and other officials were present.

CPNE delegation included president Kazim Khan, senior vice president Ayaz Khan, vice president Punjab Irshad Ahmad Arif, secretary-general Aamir Mahmood and other members.

Economic challenges

The prime minister said that the government was taking all possible measures to ensure power generation and its supply, so that public woes could be addressed.

The previous government had doubled the country’s debt during the last four years rule which had made the lives of poor miserable, he said, adding that they were making efforts to provide basic necessities of life including flour, health treatment and medicines at subsidised rates.

He regretted that during the previous government’s rule, special arrangements were not made at PKIL like facilities for giving free-of-cost treatment to the poor and deserving patients.

The prime minister stressed upon the solidarity of the nation to resolve the current economic challenges for the welfare of the people and said that holding of a long march – announced by deposed PM Imran Khan – in this situation amounted to uncalled for and creation of fissures among the nation.

He observed that electoral reforms were a must for holding of transparent elections in the country.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Sunday termed Imran Khan's Abbottabad speech on Sunday "a conspiracy against Pakistan".

In a statement, the prime minister said those concocting a narrative against national institutions were the real Mir Jaffars and Mir Sadiqs.

Referring to Imran Khan's speech during a rally in Abbottabad today, the premier said that the state of Pakistan, the Constitution, and national institutions were challenged today, therefore, legal action will be taken against the PTI chairman.

The premier, in the statement, further added that Imran Khan is not conspiring in politics, but he is hatching a conspiracy against Pakistan.

"Pakistan cannot be sacrificed on the basis of the ego, arrogance, and lies of one person. First, Imran Niazi conspired to drown Pakistan's economy and now he is trying to trigger a civil war," the statement said. "The government will crush Imran Niazi's conspiracy to cause a civil war in the country".

The prime minister added that "Imran Niazi is the Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq of today who wanted Pakistan to face the same fate as Libya and Iraq."

He further said that Imran Khan was "biting the same hand that fed him".

"The 220 million people of Pakistan, the Constitution, and the national institutions are not slaves of one person. Imran Niazi wants to enslave the masses, but we will not allow him to become the Hitler of Pakistan," the statement said.

"Imran Niazi lied a lot, but now he has to face the truth."

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday criticised PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his comments regarding state institutions and said that action should be taken on them within the ambit of the law and the Constitution.

He made the comments during today's National Assembly session where lawmakers unanimously passed a resolution condemning the campaign against state institutions. According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution was moved by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

Imran, while addressing a public gathering in Abbottabad on Sunday, had narrated the stories of Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq. The former prime minister had said Sirajud Daula was a governor of the Mughal emperor whose commander-in-chief, Mir Jaffar, joined hands with the English to topple the government.

He had said that his government was removed from power through "the Mir Jafars and Mir Sadiqs of today". PM Shehbaz had criticised the comments yesterday and vowed to take action.

Following on those comments in today's session, the prime minister said Imran's comments were "very dangerous and terrifying". He said Imran had "directly" likened Pakistan's institutions to Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq.

"The poison he spewed about the institution yesterday is a conspiracy against it and Pakistan. If this is not stopped through the law and the Constitution then God forbid this country will become a hideous reflection of Syria and Libya where cities present scenes of graveyards today."

The prime minister claimed that Imran was the "blue-eyed" of the institution and "was fed milk like a child".

"Without fear I want to say that in 75 years, this institution has never supported any government or prime minister like it did Imran Khan.

"It was his misfortune that despite that he learned nothing, did nothing and did not serve the nation. There is no example found of this kind of support and nor will it be found again," Shehbaz said, adding that if even 20 per cent to 30pc of that support was provided to the PPP or PML-N governments then "we would have had this country [taking] off as a plane flies."

The prime minister reiterated that if Imran's comments were not clamped down on then "nothing would be left" and there would be a crisis in the country.

He lambasted the PTI chairman for taking the country in a direction where democracy could be eliminated.

PM Shehbaz also criticised the PTI government on economic fronts such as arranging oil and gas supplies, maintaining power plants, managing the fiscal deficit and taking loans. He said it had "mortgaged future generations" with the number of loans it had taken.

The prime minister also rubbished Imran's claims about the Cablegate affair and said Pakistan's then-ambassador to the US had himself admitted that threatening language was used in the letter but "where was this element of conspiracy conjured from?"

PM Shehbaz said threats were made to Pakistan in the past as well and Pakistan and India regularly issued threats to each other "but is that conspiracy?".

'Security risk'
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who spoke after PM Shehbaz, called Imran a "security risk" for the country and claimed that the former premier had come into power on an "agenda".

He alleged that the PTI chairman had attacked every institution and component of society.

Referring to the previous PTI government, Asif said it was a tragedy that they used to say "we (the government and the army) are on the same page when it suited them even when constitutional institutions interfered or crossed their limits".

"As long as Pindi supported them (PTI), it was everything for them but today, we are being accused of coming into power through a foreign conspiracy and are being called an imported government. But I can say with full surety that this person (Imran) is bent on destroying all constitutional institutions."

Asif claimed that Imran had used three cards — religion, targeting the United States and using the country's traditional rivalry with India — when he saw his power being threatened.

"He (Imran) wants to wreck and disrupt the process of restoring constitutional supremacy. He sullied religion, politics and decency. He taught people how to hurl expletives. He tore apart all the traditions of this society. And now he wants to go after an institution that is the protector of this country. He has tried several times within the last few months to drive cracks into that same institution," the defence minister thundered.

He further claimed that Imran had tried to damage the country's ideological, territorial and all other defences. Imran, his close associates and ministers earned money through corruption during the previous government's tenure, he alleged.
