TASMANIA opener Ben Dunk scored the first ever double century in Australian domestic one-day cricket as a range of landmarks were set by the Tigers in their imposing tally of 1-398 against Queensland at North Sydney Oval.

Dunk eventually reached 229 not out, setting a new high in the 46-year history of the competition, comfortably eclipsing the previous record individual score of 197 set by NSW opener David Warner at the same venue last season.

Dunk and fellow opener Tim Paine (125) put on a record 277 for the first wicket, eclipsing the 33-year-old mark of 253 set by NSW duo Rick McCosker and John Dyson, before then passing the competition record (263) for any wicket set by Ricky Ponting and Michael Dighton for Tasmania in 2007.

The 27-year-old Queensland-born Dunk struck a remarkable 13 sixes in his 157-ball innings.

Dunk brought up his second domestic one-day ton off 93 balls, and Paine soon followed with his 100 off a more measured 118 deliveries faced.

The early part of the innings gave no sign of the fireworks that were to follow with Tasmania scoring just 78 runs off their opening 20 overs, before cleverly lifting the pace.

The Queenslanders missed a host of run-out opportunities, while Dunk was dropped on 132 by Peter George off his own bowling. Queensland also claimed two catches from free hits as the Bulls bowling became ragged in the latter stages.

Australia batsman George Bailey lined-up for Tasmania for the first time this season and enjoyed a late cameo of 33 not out from 19 balls.

George suffered the most of any bowler going for 101 off his 10 overs, though he did take the only wicket of the innings.

Tasmania did miss one record, falling just shy of Queensland’s record total of 4-405 set in 2004.

Queensland 125 for no loss in just 16 overs Aman KarachiKing Fastandfurious

It looks like a Good chase here , 146 for no loss just 18 overs.

Can Queensland do this ? :13:

Khawaja to hit 250 today...

Though I must say it does call for question the size of the ground.

Is it like 65m sixes?

Khawaja is still no good. It's a Hobbit size ground they are playing on.

Yes.

And incredibly flat.

The ground where Khawaja has scored 3 of his 5 centuries.

I don't know why CA use this ground. The matches in Blacktown were better.

Channel 9 has telecast two extremes in two consecutive saturdays- last week Tasmania got bowled out for 60 by WA and this week they scored 400

Joe Burns is a good cricketer.

Going to be a great one for Australia. I don't make predictions ,but if they select him, he will be awesome!

a bit off at the moment.

He's really vulnerable early. But I'd back him to make the step up

Lol 229 and still gonna lose...

and we crib abt SC pitches being flat

If you live in Australia or have a VPN you can watch it on cricket.com.au website.

They stream most of the Shield matches.

That's how I watch using VPN :)

If you live in Australia it's on GEM (one of channel 9's channels)

The WA games are much better to watch.

It's on channel 9

North Sydney is a midget ground.

Is this at North Sydney Oval? I used to live like two minutes from there on Walker St. It's pretty small yea. What's the capacity, like 500 or something.

Yep. North Sydney Oval.

Austadiums says 20,000 which I laugh at but I guess you could pack the grass banks

It's not like capacity gets tested for Shield or Matadors though.

I heard Clive Rose is of Pakistani descent Convict is that true?

The best thing about North Sydney Oval was the pub right next to it :D

Khawaja, Hartley chase down 399

ight-hundred runs were heaped for the loss of four wickets and the double-centurion Ben Dunk finished on the losing side as Queensland knocked Tasmania out of the domestic limited-overs tournament in an affair of gluttonous batting at North Sydney Oval.

Tasmania 398-1 (50 overs). Queensland gets them with 16 balls left! Anyone want to be a bowler?
