I went with Kumble only for variety in bowling. As, i don't want two off-spinners in my team, i went with leggie..
Zaheer Abbas is great option. But, his sample numbers are too small.
Kapil is undoubtally legend in ODIs , but just to include a Bangladeshi in the team i went with Shakib.
Including Imran that too at no.8 is illogical.Malinga provides you better variety with bowling.

Good point about two off spinners.

Yes, I was also considering Yuvraj as he was extremely clutch but his bowling isn't reqd. when you have Jayasuriya.

Shakib I am not too sure of having at no 7.

Imran is used as a floater with bat. He is not there for hitting skills. However, a lot has been said about his bowling skills too which was great in ODIs. As an example, at 140/5, I would send Imran ahead to bat and keep Kapil and Wasim for final 10 overs.

Malinga is excellent in ODIs but I have Waqar so I don't think we really need that variety. Waqar is widely recognised for his toe crushing yorkers and that is what Malinga did too.

How does Williamson get in the team before Smith, I'm only asking because Smith has more hundreds, higher average, more runs and higher strike rate.

KL Rahul is a complete bottler and no bottler should get into any combined 11

He is a must in all formats

He is must have in ODIs but he can't be selected in tests that too in place of Gavaskar who was arguably the best ever opener in the history of tests.

Bumrah is replaceable in your T20 team. Don't think so he deserved to be in this team. Otherwise awesome T20 team.

His wickets tally and sample is pretty impressive. He is by all measures, well ahead of Shaheen who averages 26. Bumrah averages 19, Gul 17 and Malinga 20. In terms of wickets tally also, these three are best followed by arguably Bhuvi.

It was a really tough task . I had to replace some all time ATGS and had to include some guys who had same average as of legends but more runs or wickets. Example, I didn't select Wasim as Vaas has more wickets in this timespan. Although WAsim was averaging better.
*Stats includes from 1 Jan 1996.

Surprised Rohit only makes a couple of the ODI lists. Each to their own of course.

A man with 3 double tons in the format and more centuries in half the number of games to the popular choice, Jayasuriya, would get my note.

Jayasuriya was a revolutionary and certainly offered credible threat via utility as a SLA bowler but I wouldn't take him over Rohit. Jayasuriya's knocks were devastating; even the shortest cameos could alter the face of a game/chase in a matter of balls but the propensity for failure was also much higher as his record ultimately attests to.

Sharma is as devastating in his own way and when he tucks in he makes the most of an all you can eat buffet. Excellent catcher aswell. 5 back to back tons in the last WC was it? Good Luck bowling to that.

Tough choice ; but when other batters are also accumulators, its better to go away with a devastating opener who is a very good bowler also
