It has to be the one and only EDEN GARDENS, it is not only best in asia but one of the best stadiums in the world.

It has the history, it has the looks, it has the size, it is iconic and they have been preparing some of the best pitches for cricket in the past few years after Dada took over.

Wanted to make this thread during the previous odi but got busy with work, which is the best stadium in Asia according to you guys?

The new stadium under construction in Motera will beat MCG as the stadium with highest capacity.
The design also looks cool..

I preferred Eden Gardens back in the 90s when they used to pack in 100,000 and people would let off flares and fireworks. No regard for health and safety but geez, what an intimidating, cauldron-like atmosphere for away teams:

This over the bacha party who just want to sit and take selfies all day.

Mumbai for me,love the design of stands,in terms of scenic view Dharmsala easily.

DY Patil Stadium. Shame we don't have matches there anymore.

mumbai is too small and ain't as iconic as the eden gardens

Eden is iconic agreed and it will always be part of that "tag" but right now Mumbai is the best stadium for me.

My personal bias would be towards Chennai but they can't get their act together and yellow stands being empty is very embarrassing.

It looks so boring and plain. I rather have one like Brain Lara International Stadium than this boring 100,000 capacity of concrete bowl.

They'll have trouble filling up the 100k capacity stadium in motera :yk, the matches there would look boring with all the empty stands

If we're talking about the best stadiums and not the biggest or most historic, then it has to be the MCA International Cricket Centre in Pune. The construction remains incomplete which is a real shame but still the stadium in its current form has set the benchmark for what a modern international cricket stadium should be like in India (or South Asia in general).

Agree I find the design of Wakhede Stadium very unique and like the view Crowd in the stadium enjoys.
I think even the far away crowds get better view of the action in the middle due to stadium design and the atmosphere is good too.

Hate stadiums where crowds are separated too much away from the ground, likes it happens in Gaddafi stadium.

Indian stadiums are so much better than the ones in Pakistan.

Lack of Cricket at home meant no upgradation of home venues.

Bangladeshi stadiums are all mess too.

This has to be bakshi stadium srinagar (IOK) but its condition has worsened due to bad management of JKCCA and BCCI

BCCI isn't responsible for stadium maintaineance. They giveout membership fees to state association who in return manages cricketers and staidum in their respective state. Secondly, most Indian couldn't be bothered if there is no cricket facility in J&K, that state has never created a worldclass player for Team India, and majority dont even support India. I would rather want BCCI use the money where fans actually cares about Men in Blue.

This is another beautiful stadium.

My top 3 stadium lists.

1. DY Patil
2. Subrata
3. Dharmshala

The words 'best stadium' should have some criteria. Else it would be meaningless to call any stadium 'best'. OP should have point those criterias

How can anyone have a second opinion about this? It is obviously and without a shadow of doubt the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The rich history, the aura, the field, the pitch and the mere fact that it is in the city of hearts itself should be enough reason for it to be unainmously be agreed upon as the Numero Uno stadium in Asia.

And with the PCB taking steps to renovate it futuristically and to increase the seating, I think the day for it to be regarded as one of the best stadiums in the world is not far.

Eden Gardens fulfils all of those as well. It has twice the capacity of Gaddaffi.

it has to be the only stadium in Bangladesh Dhaka Mega Cricket Ground

I think, it's still Eden, though the capacity has been slashed down by 35K or so. I also like our Mirpur Stadium lot - fantastic out field, quality if light and now the wickets are producing exciting Test results.

Why bringing Bangladesh here uncalled for? His post has a merit - otherwise any one can put any stadium or everyone should put Lord's. Dharmashla & Taupo stadiums can be mentioned for natural beauty, similarly one can mention MCG or Oval, so there can be a criteria to sort. Mirpur stadium is indeed one of the best in world for viewers & the atmosphere inside is something one won't get outside India & may be Colombo. Unless weather interrupted outfield is fantastic; lights, electronic scoreboard, seating arrangements, VIP lounges are at per with top stadiums in world & the wickets also producing exciting Test & ODI games.

Don't post something that forces posters to retaliate.

Stunning. Reminds of the PL football grounds.

Qadafi... Same red brick as Badshahi mosque... Which means it goes with the history of the city...

Not soul-less modern like Mumbai or colonial architecture like Eden Gardens

That’s outside. Inside of Qadafi stadium isn’t attractive.... Best is Ring of Fire from inside

gaddafi stadium has no global appeal. eden gardens is the most famous cricket stadium after lords, oval and mcg.

gaddafi is pakistan's best stadium obviously but it is no match for lords, oval, mcg and eden gardens

i like you as a poster but you bring your pakistani bias in every topic and live in your own world. some times try to think from a neutral perspective because the world doesn't revolve around pakistan cricket.

you very well know what percentage of neutrals would pick gaddafi as the best stadium in asia.

take of the green tinted glasses for once :)

Qaddafi stadium is more beautiful than MCG, Eden Gardens and Oval... Lords is more beautiful but that sky pavillon ruins everything... Lords and Qaddafi have personality... Like Camp Nou, an iconic look... MCG is very generic... Eden gardens has those ugly blue windows what were they thinking

When you look at Lords and Qaddafi you know where they are from just by looking...

Among modern looking stadiums, majority look generic... Only rare few like Allianz Arena have a good distinctive look...

Santiago Bernabeu is a stadium with history and beautiful and facilities... But most people wouldn’t be able to recognize it..:

This is why I prefer look of qadafi to Wakhede... Eden gardens has a distinctive look but it’s ugly... Looks like one of those three floor plazas in Pakistan and India... Like Pace in Lahore or an hBL branch...

it is not about beauty only

and beauty is subjective..

considering all things eden gardens is easily the greatest stadium in asia

Maybe if you consider everything... But it doesn’t look good unlike qadafi... I prefer good looking stadiums even if they are smaller...

Everything here is solely and only your opinion - wrong - but your opinion and I respect that. But your last comment is actually laughable, Syed1, shaz619, Rayyman and a majority of other posters would testify that people have even labelled me as Anti-Pakistan on here. My opinion is extremely unbiased.

Lahore is the cultural hub of South Asia and recognizing that the Gaddafi Stadium is the best stadiums here is a fact.

what are your indicators for Lahore stadium being best?

History is subjective. You might find history of Gadaffi more intruging and nothing wrong with that. As you can relate yourself to the history of Lahore and Gadaffi.(assuming you're from Lahore or nearby)

Similarly, most Indians will find Eden Gardens to be historic. Most non Indian cricketers always found a daunting challenge to play in Eden gardens. Some even had probelm hearing(communicating on field) due to sheer volume of fans chanting at sametime.

Apart from historic values, what other things are special about Gadaffi that makes it best?

Gaddafi is the best cricket ground in Aisa, and the 2nd best in the World after Lords.

The third on the List is National Staduim followed by Rafi.

:salute

yes mate of course :))

i am a lahori and to call lahore the cutural hub of south asia is as laughable as calling gaddafi the best stadium in asia

now yes this is your opinion and a rubbish one. but its fine you can continue to live in your bubble :)

Wow wth was that? :))

If only there was one stadium in srinagar Kashmir of international standard it would have been the best.

For me the best stadium in Asia, a venue which isn’t just a modern day concreter block with steel supports making it look fancy. Galle is An arena/venue that has real character with natural beauty, location is prime, and the fact of where it is and the venue holds international level sports there is amazing, a lot more than just a simple stadium.

Tbh, I am as much a fan of small, scenic stadiums like Galle, as I am a fan of awe-inspiring massive structures like the ones you see in India. Sadly, almost all the stadiums in Pakistan are rundown and look like they haven't even been touched since the 90s. Our two most major cricket stadiums are just not that great. GSL is awful when it comes to viewing experience. NSK is good if you have good seats with a high vantage point. But I don't think it even compares to some of India's biggest stadiums.

I enjoy watching cricket at my hometown stadium Pindi Cricket Stadium. In my opinion, test stadium in Pakistan when it comes to atmosphere and viewing experience.
