This would be my best all time team of left handed players. Other then Wasim I am struggling to find great left arm pacers. Yours?

Saeed Anwar
Sanath Jayasuriya
Brian Lara
David Gower
Allan Border
Gary Sobers
Adam Gilchrist
Wasim Akram
Derek Underwood
Zaheer Khan
Bishen Bedi

Wow, I never realized that great left arm quicks were this rare. I haven't followed Cricket for a long time, but surely there must be bowlers better than Zaheer.

You are now just inviting all those who will insist Amir is "world class"!:))

Pak has produced so many Left arm pacers. Many are decent, but only Wasim can be counted among ATG's.

Tests or ODIs? If tests, surely Hayden/Cook/Smith are better than Jayasuriya? If ODIs, Bedi can be replaced with Shakib and Underwood with Starc.

I would take sanga in for Gowner

Gowner was arguably one of the best batsman ever to watch bat, elegance personified n every sense but sanga was a better batsman overall

And i think boult will get his name right here once he hang up his boots

What is this?
An odi eleven or test eleven.
It doesn't fit in any category.

How could you miss Rangana Herath?

He walks into this team over Bedi

Hayden
Smith
Sangakkara
Lara
Border
Sobers
Gilchrist
Akram
Johnson
Bedi
Vaas

Never understood the purpose of these fantasy sides.... PP'ers would post sides with half of the players they haven't even seen play live. Then they argue about whose team is better and what's wrong with the other guy's team:danish

Let me try Odi

Jayasuriya/Anwar/Hayden
Gilly
Lara
Sangha
Bevan
Sobers
Wasim
Johnson
Vettori/ Herath??
Starc
Swann/Kuldeep(too early??)

Vaas
Klusener??

I am sure I missed some players...

Clive loyd, Ganguly, Border, Fleming, Akram, Graeme Smith, Bedi. Some pretty good captains were left handed.

Sanga v Gilchrist is an interesting one. Though Sanga is good enough to play purely as a batsman I'd have Gilly behind the stumps.

Bhaijaan's left handers Test XI:-

Hayden
Smith
Lara
Sobers
Lloyd (c)
Border
Sangakkara (wk)
Wasim
Zaheer
Herath
Bedi

The righties will smash them.

This is why new era fans should not pick AT teams!

Alan Davidson?
Mitchell Johnson? (Far superior to Zaheer)
Vaas? (ditto)
Starc ?

Even in the batting this is half baked!

Graeme Pollock?

Even Bedi is not a good pick. Herath is 2* the bowler.

*shaking my head in despair*

Drop Zaheer for Alan Davidson.

Drop Gower for Graeme Pollock.

Drop Bedi from Tony Lock.

Maybe something like this

Haydos
Smith (c)
Sanga
Lara
Graeme Pollock
Sobers
Gilly (wk)
Mitch Johnson
Alan Davidson
Wasim
Herath

Batting looks rock solid but bowling is a bit iffy compared to the right-handers XI.

wow. I am a left handed batter myself and love watching left handers. But i don't see this team, good as it is, beating an all time team of right handers.

You have Zaheer Khan before Vaas??? Vaas has a more wickets then Zaheer, a better bowling & batting average. Vaas has 355 wickets in test and 400 in ODI matches...

Wasn't he chucker?

The Aussies thought so, though he played for Western Australia for several seasons. I think he got called a time or two when bowling for Surrey. He saw film of himself, was shocked and changed his action.

Arguably mystery spinner Johnny Wardle was better, 102 wickets @ 20 in tests, but England kept picking Lock ahead of him.

MY XI

1.Saed Anwar
2.Arthur Morris
3.Brian Lara
4.Graeme Pollock
5.Gary Sobers
6.Vinoo Mankad
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Alan Davidson
9.Wasim Akram
10.Mitchelle Johnson
11.Bishen Bedi

Mankad would be a perfect foil for Sobers and Bedi as an all-rounder and a spinner.3 genuine quickies, one fast-medium pace ,2spinners,2 all-rounders and 7 batsmen.More bowlers as they win matches more than batsmen.

Surely Johnson over Khan?

Mine is something like this for tests -

1. G. Smith
2. M. Hayden
3. B. Lara
4. S. Chanderpaul
5. G. Sobers
6. A. Border c
7. A. Gilchrist wk
8. W. Akram
9. C. Vaas
10. M. Johnson
11. D. Underwood

An ODI XI something like -

1. S. Jayasuriya
2. C. Gayle
3. S. Anwar
4. B. Lara
5. K. Sangakkara c
6. A. Gilchrist wk
7. M. Hussey
8. S. Hasan
9. W. Akram
10. M. Johnson
11. C. Vaas

Surprised no one included Vinoo Mankad an ll-rounder in the Keith Miller class.A genuinely good bat and great spinner.
