Though the rankings may paint a different picture currently. In my opinion, they should be something like this:

1. South Africa
2. Australia
3. India
4. England
5. New Zealand
6. Bangladesh
7. Pakistan
8. Sri Lanka
9. West Indies

South Africa is the best team for me personally. They have the most balanced side with a versatile bunch of players. And they showed they don't always need AB to succeed either with the recent 5-0 drubbing of Australia. India would be 3. Australia and South Africa's far superior bowling attacks put them above India for me. Batting-wise India is on-par with them. England's recent resurgence puts them at 4 for me. They've got one heck of side with a lot of great potential. New Zealand simply aren't the team they were at the World Cup without McCullum and Elliot, but they're still very good. These 5 teams exist in one tier for me and then in the second tier you have Bangladesh, Pakistan, SL and WI. Bangladesh at 6 because of how well they've been doing recently. But I'm not entirely sure if they can do well outside Bangladesh. Pakistan have improved a lot recently and I think they're close to Bangladesh' level, but Bangladesh still has a significant edge over them. Sri Lanka has one of their worst all-time teams and to be honest, I just don't see them beating any team other than West Indies. Don't think I need to say anything about the West Indies. They'll have some trouble qualifying for the WC.

Bro theres a reason why a ranking system exists

Maybe he disagrees with its methodology. It is often subjected to criticism.

It is subjected to criticism because most people do not know how to read a simple ranking table.

While people look at ranks, no one bothers to lay an eye on rating points which tells you the real difference between two teams.

The problem with the ODI ranking is that the "top" team Australia has played 29 ODIs I think this year whereas India have played 13 which is a massive gap. Rankings lack consistency. Personally, I think these are the top and bottom teams in ODIs:

01. Australia
02. South Africa
03. England
04. India
05. New Zealand
06. Bangladesh
07. Sri Lanka
08. West Indies
09. Pakistan
10. Afghanistan
11. Zimbabwe
12. Ireland

Australia played 22 ODIs this year.

In cricketing years that come under current rank consideration, india has played 53 australia 54.

No. It is subjected to criticism because of its methodology. One such criticism is that I find is that AWAY WINS should be given more weightage than HOME WINS to be a reflector of true strength of a team.

Till the ENG/IND series is over, my ranking is
AUS, SAF, NZ, IND, ENG, BD, PAK, SRL, WI, AFG.

These days, often teams don't play 1st team in bilateral, hence ranking or series result doesn't reflect true picture. More or less, I think, most will agree the top 2, I still put AUS ahead of SAF, despite 0-5. Between IND/NZ, Kiwis have taken India to 5th match in India, India lost 4-0 down under - besides Kiwis made the WC final, hence, I'll keep them just ahead. If Poms can win in India, they go to straight 3rd, while a series win for IND, keeps team at their position in top 5.

In bottom half, 5 closely matched teams, but I put BD at 6 because of I am a Bangladeshi & we have beaten almost every team at home. Had we won the series against Poms, I would have put us at 5. A series win in NZ & a loss by Poms in India should bring ENG & BD at per. WI goes to 9th, because they failed to make the final against ZIMBOKs & lost 3-0 to PAK; but they are not 10th because on their day, they did beat the No. 1 & 2. Between SRL & PAK, tough call as PAK holds the rubber, I honor them just ahead, but Lanka will leap frog PAK if Aussies do a naughty thing with Azzus' boys.
