Imam-ul-Haq speaking after his ODI hundred on debut:

"I would like to thank team management and family who supported me"

"I had an idea of playing in these conditions at the under 19 level, I was working hard and hard work pays off"

"Last half of my innings was tough as I was tired and it was humid"

"I would like to thank Hafeez Bhai as he always supported me"

"He taught me that having the mental confidence to prove myself at the international level"

"I am grateful to Mickey and Sarfaraz for giving me a chance"

"I was really sad when I thought I was out as I had come so close to the milestone"

"But then Sarfaraz Ahmed signalled to me that the ball did not carry and i was relieved"

"I am not bothered about allegations of nepotism as I have a lot of self belief"

"People who say such things about me, I respect them for that as that is their job but it doesnt bother me"

"The best way to answer them is by performing on the ground"

"I am proud of my record as the 2nd youngest debut-century maker and I will do my level best in the future too"

"When I was walking back I was thinking that this was my best opportunity to make a record by scoring 100 on my debut and I was upset"

"Younis Khan showed me how to have mental toughness"

"Shoaib Malik is a great influence and its great to have him in the team as he helps us all"

"I was getting cramps whilst batting and Hafeez told me that you will get lot of shoes thrown at you if you now get out on a bad shot"

"Not only did Hafeez give me my ODI cap, he also told me when we were fielding that I dont know why, but I feel that you will score a 100 today"

"Once Hafeez Bhai came on the crease, he told me that whatever happens, you will not leave without scoring a hundred today"

"Its not my fault that I am Inzi's nephew but all I can do is to perform as well as I can for as long as possible"

"Playing in the U19 World Cup and representing my country was a good experience as the pressure is pretty similar to playing any international game"

"I had pressure when I arrived here and joined the team but after spending time with the team and getting support from all, it did not feel as if it was my first time with the national team"

"I got a lot of support from Mickey, Sarfaraz and seniors and that really helped me settle down"

"I would like to mention my father who supported me - including the times when I bunked classes in School!"

"He gave me all the support I needed through school and U19"

If possible can you please post video of the presentation ceremony where Ramiz had a chat with Imam.

I have missed that part.

Videos of international games etc are a big no/no due to copyright issues. :)

More quotes added to OP from presser.

Interesting he mentioned younus khan... keep yourself in the company of hard working greats and you ll benefit.

Guy looks like a HUM TV hero. Hopefully, he strikes at a better rate and keeps on getting hundreds. A great era is on the horizon for Pakistan if they keep injecting hungry youth.

It must have been a good feeling for Imam seeing an ex u19 teammate in the same dressing room who is performing so well at the international stage.

He was alot better than i thought he would be, wasnt overly defensive like many others that have made their debuts and showed enough to to be given an extended run. I still think that in the long run, he will be a decent test player but playing ODI will improve his range of shots and that only can only help his test cricket.

Is that what you took from the interview :)) speaking of the mental aspect this is what he had to say:

"Younis Khan showed me how to have mental toughness"

So not sure where the Hafeez analogy came from when it comes to mental confidence in that area as he singled out Khan

Very limited player can get out any ball, even if he bats till 45th over pak will be nowhere near target. Fakhar & Sharjeel should be opening.

So has he proved his doubters wrong? :inti

Never doubted him. Best Pak has as an opener. Not everyone needs to be a dashing batsmen rather have someone with solid temperament and game sense and prolific scoring. He has played wellin a pressure tournament now. His next challange is to add few more strokes and prove himself against other opponents in upcoming games.

Possesses more grit and mental toughness than the others in the squad but doesn't have the stroke-making ability to be a free flowing batsman. Good captains will be able to tie him up with accurate bowling and put the team under pressure. Maybe he can improve as he is pretty young with not even 20 matches under his belt.

Limited player, does battle hard and score heavily against Minnows so maybe should be just selected as a Minnow specalist as everyone needs such players for certain games.
