Depends on how long you're waiting to sit on the investment, Stocks would be the way to go.

Find a stable stock like Apple (I invested $5k when it split last time and bought at $91, it's gone up to $160. Getting close to doubling my money.

You'll need to research and find what you feel comfortable with.

You could also go with mutual funds too.

Invest in penny stocks of upcoming tech companies. Do some research and see if the company has potential or not. You never know you might unknowingly invest in the next Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram etc and turn your $1000 into $10,000. However, what is more than likely is that you may suffer a loss of the amount you invested. IMO better to save up enough so that you could put a down payment on a property and either live there or rent it out.

Most (I'd say any but let's leave room for statistical anomalies) companies which are the next Facebook or snapchat are not going to be already listed let alone be a penny stock

If you are an American buy index funds like spy500 or spy for tech and biotechs. Safe investments which doesn't require much maintenance and usually gives 10-15% annual yield based on economic conditions.

WARNING: DONT LISTEN TO ANY OF THE SUGGESTIONS ABOVE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY.

Investing in stocks, bonds, currencies or anything is very lucrative, Unfortunately only for less than 1% of people who invest, while 95% lose money in the stock markets, 5% break even and a very minuscule amount make money.

When doing anything KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. If you are going by suggestions to invest based on a cricket forum or anywhere on the net, you will see yourself joining the 95% of losers.

Invest your money in books and educate yourself on where you want to invest it, build your knowledge and let your subconscious guide you on where you want to invest it.

The reason why some people make money and others lose money is quite simple, its the MINDSET, successful and wealthy people build there knowledge and there subconscious guides them through life while the poor and unsuccessful go around listening to other people thinking there is a magic formula or some kind of holy grail when it comes to investing, unfortunately there isn't, its all about the mindset. Great businesses have been built from nothing.

Warren Buffet, the world richest investor and one time richest in the world, did not go around asking people on where to invest, from the age of 16 he was busy analysing balance sheets and financial statements of companies to find winners while at the same time building his knowledge from the best minds of that time in Benjamin Graham and Philip Fisher.

I guess the question is how to be as knowledgeable as Warren Buffett.

I feel crypto Currency has a lot of potential to make big gains on smaller investments as the market is so new and dynamic.

(1)
I invest in Indian Stock markets & Mutual Funds , i will do the following:
Invest $5000 lumpsum into any DEBT Mutual fund, then do a monthly STP (systematic transfer plan) or say $500 per month to any EQUITY Mutual Fund
(2)
Bitcoin
I came late to the Bitcoin party. back in July 2017, i invested a lot in bitcoin at $2100 - right now its around $4400
scratching my head, should i offload my profits or wait till $10000

10k dollars are around 1million pkr.

I'll invest in something proper that can give sustainable returns.

Like ..... :13:

Small scale value adding thing, could be some herbal plants being grown (you need some research and stuff for that), Possibly any small scale manufacture venture, It may also include setting up of wood related production (sort of jewellery boxes maybe).

Remember I'm not sure about exact capital requirement but just letting you know small scale specialist venture you could possibly do.

But benefit from such a venture will be that you can always grow and get sustainable returns, however needs time and effort as you need to know nature of operations, your business model.etc

Stocks, Property.etc are pure luck and not what you may call a business

1)Which of the crypto currency coins are the best to invest in? Apart from bitcoin ofcourse.

I have been tracking ripple (poor man's bitcoin) since a month now and it is hovering more or less at the same value of 1$. Doesnt look too promising unless you are looking to invest in it long term , like many years.

2) Also i hear UK budget is going to come out soon and it might have an effect on the value of crypto currency. Can someone shed light on it?

Best way to invest $1000 will be buying classic investment books and take next 6 months to read all of them twice. Investment of this $1000 and time will take you far.

I know a Nigerian prince who will promised me 1000 fold returns on a small initial investment. I could dig up his email if you want.

What if you don’t like reading?

Anyone here living in the UK? We have ISA, tax free saving/investments. These are brilliant in the medium to long run. Plus Pensions are very good way of making tax savings.

I wouldn't want to mention which shares, as it would be akin to pump and dump. ;)

Cryptocurrencies are a solid investment, if you do enough research. Give them till the end of the year and they will yield serious profit.

Look into the following. Ripple, Stellar, Cardano, and Vechain. Ripple and stellar are quite similar both are cross border transfer solutions and alot of big international banks around the world have invest in both. Cardano is an improved version of Ethereum but its still in early stages but will be huge in the coming years. Vechain is a product management platform, it makes it simple and secure for product manufacturers to collect, manage and share important product data with vendors and consumers throughout the lifecycle of a product. BMW has invested in it.

Find an asset that will appreciate over time. Before you buy something make sure you know enough about the type of product, history, and trends. Cars, watches, financial products, and real estate can appreciate quickly in value given you know what the value drivers are for each product type. Spend your time doing research and figuring out what are somethings you know enough about to predict the trend in value.

If you are thinking long term, put in your money and forget about it for a while then, as Warren buffet said. Few items that will never go out of business, such as shaving blades, as long as man growing beard, some of them would want to shave. That is just one product.

Return won't be quick but over time it will generate sufficient amount.

Before investing decide what you want out of your investment. How soon do you want the returns? How much are you looking to make? What is your risk appetite? What type of industry are you interested in and want to learn more about? Have you been following the market and you know when the market is in a upswing versus a downswing?

Investment tips and advice helps but you have to know what you are looking for...

By shares in some company. Do some research on the company before handing over the money:bhatti

Shares in a company is one that is common alot. I personally am not in a situation where I can invest money in. With that being said coming across this forum has really opened my eyes and mind to the idea of investing I mean if you in it for the long run this could reap rewards for you. I've always thought about doing this at some point but haven't really thought about this now. After looking at this forum, I'm starting to really knuckle down and think about doing this.

You should dedicate ~$100 towards personal development books. Probably one of the best 'small' investments you can make if your goal is to maximize returns in the long-run.

What if someone does not pay up ?

You don't lend to one person ... say you want to invest $100 thru Peer-To-Peer lending ... they allow you to pick 4 different people to loan $25 (=Min Amount) each instead of giving all your cash to one person. So now you have 4 notes each $25 totaling $100 invested. The chances of all 4 defaulting is much lesser compared to one person defaulting. So if you have $1000 to invest you could break that into 40 notes of $25 each and now you can see how the risk starts to diminish.

And all of this is automated and you get to pick the risk level that you are comfortable with. You pick the risk category and the min amount and they will automatically break that spread that across multiple borrowers. They will also tell you the defaulting rate based on past data and the estimated interest you will earn on your investment after costs/fees. You can also pick the credit scores , salary, employment history of people you want to lend to (that would be manual lending). So in short it is very sophisticated lending platform. Just create a free account and take a look.

PS: I am not trying to sell you their services. You can pick any of the P2P sites. They all operate on the same concepts. Most importantly do your own research !

Books. They contain an author's cumulation of knowledge throughout their lives. It's organized, edited, and open for you to learn and gain from. The most successful people throughout history have had one thing in common, they have been voracious readers.

Do they use paypal ?

Also , for how long is the lending term ?

Do they use paypal ?

obviously not. Because PayPal can be linked to a Credit Card ! You need a bank a/c. Transfers are done thru ACH.

Also , for how long is the lending term ?

2 options 36 months or 60 months .You wont be able to get your cash back if there is a emergency. it allows you to sell your notes to others but liquidity is not guaranteed (I think not sure pls double check)

Look into Index Funds.

You can read up on it as its related to the Couch Potato Investment strategy
