Better opener in ODI- Mark Waugh or Matthew Hayden?

Who was a better opener of the two in odis?

Waugh - 8500 runs @ avg 39 SR 76
Hayden - 6131 runs @ avg 44 SR 79

Waugh's stats are incorrect. He averages in high 40s as an opener and too while facing several ATG fast bowlers which Hayden did not.

With his brilliant fielding and handy part time off-pin, I will take Waugh over Hayden.

Mark Waugh, at one point, my favorite batsman after Sachin. I have a huge bias for him. But I'll have to bite my tongue here and pick Hayden.
