Blackburn's Indian owners Venky's have made former Malaysia defender Shebby Singh their director of football.

One of Singh's tasks will be to act as a go-between for the Venky's and Steve Kean, although the manager's future remains uncertain after relegation from the Barclays Premier League.

Singh is unlikely to be short of things to say, having earned a reputation for his forthright views about the Premier League while working as a pundit for Asian TV.

He should be made manager on his name alone :)) Seriously it is sad what Venky's are doing to a club like Blackburn.

What is so sad about it Markhor bhai? Shebby's a fine bloke

Venky's have run Blackburn Rovers into the ground. They sacked a performing manager, and replaced him with someone who had prior business connections with Venky's - and despite Blackburn being relegated, still have not fired him.

What is Shebby's qualifications to be Director of Football - it is a major role at a club, negotiating transfer, scouting players - it seems Venky's have just hired a friend of theirs ? He does not have extensive managerial experience.

Local MPs and former Blackburn footballers have all called for Venky's to sell the club.

lol..Indian chicken farmers running a "EPL" club..probably just so they can tell their mates "look ve have EPL club yes yes EPL club now..you know"..

the fact is they have no idea firstly what english football is about, you dont elearn about the game by watching half assed ESPN India "EPL" commentator bakwaas, they dont even know how to make money in this environment..they should go and buy an IPL franchise and call it the calcutta kukkars or something along those lines..Blackburn will probably get relgated again with these losers in charge!!

Bizarre statement from a bizarre appointment.

Blackburn's global adviser Shebby Singh says manager Steve Kean will be sacked if Rovers lose their first three games of the season.

Singh was asked at a supporters' forum if Kean will leave if they lose three times in a row, and said: "Yes."

He had earlier been asked about the possibility of Kean being sacked, replying: "If we lose three games, definitely. Definitely."

But Singh added he will not rush to make a judgement about Kean.

"For me it's all about results," said Singh, a former Malaysian international player who was brought to Ewood Park by the club's owners Venky's in June.

"If, after three games, we have dropped nine points then we'll only have a 50 per cent chance of getting promoted."

Kean has faced criticism from some Blackburn supporters, who have staged regular protests against him and the club's owners.

Rovers were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season but Kean kept his job.

He has since signed seven players, including Leon Best for £3m and Danny Murphy on a free transfer.

In May, Singh wrote a column for the New Paper in Singapore in which he wrote that Kean should be sacked, but said he will not judge the manager's performance on what has happened in the past.

"I was possibly one of the worst critics [of Kean] last season," he said. "I'm sure the manager didn't like me much last season but I say it as it is.

"For me, the manager's record starts on the 18th [of August, the first day of the new season] because his appointment was made before my appointment.

"I am working with the infrastructure that is already there and people need to prove to me that they can do their jobs."

Asked if he has the power to sack Kean, Singh said: "Yes indeed. If the results are not forthcoming, I put the pressure on the manager and on the players."

Lol if you lose 3 matches you have a 50% chance of promotion ? There are 44 matches in a Championship season...

Blackburn are set to be relegated from the Championship and into League One - the third tier of English football.

Only a few years ago they were in the Premier League !

Thank you Venkys :salute

Venky'S probably thought it would be a good brand value expansion by buying a football club however they did not know anything about football, the only reason they appointed Shebby Singh was probably coz they saw him giving "expert views" on espn and thought this guy looks desi and has knowledge about football.. If you watched football on espn back then Steve McMahon and shebby Singh and Paul Masefield etc gave comments on every manager like they could have done a better job..
