Blast near Balochistan Assembly injures 15 people

QUETTA: A powerful bomb went off near a police truck in Red Zone of Quetta on Tuesday, injuring at least 15 people, SAMAA reported.

According to our correspondent, the blast took place at a parking area near Balochistan Assembly.

According to reports, a truck carrying security personnel was the main target of the attack. Four policemen were reportedly injured in the blast.

Security personnel were deployed there for the security of Balochistan lawmakers.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital, where emergency was declared.

Large numbers of security personnel reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

Quetta has been frequently attacked by insurgents in recent months.

On December 17, at least nine people were killed and scores were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the prayer hall of a church in Quetta.

I think it's time now in Baluchistan that every politician is arrested and thrown behind bars and martial law is declared and army has free reign to do extra judicial killings like they did in swat aka swift justice

the border will be fenced but waziristan takes priority at the moment..a country Like Pakistan cant stop the odd attack like this without 24 hr round the clock surveillance..

Need to build the fence ASAP. Violence has greatly reduced over the years thanks to the military, to get completely rid off it need to implement a technocrat government. Elections are not the answer, they will only result in a NS or Zardari coming in to power again without accountability. IK does not understand this.

Is it ISIS again? They have gathered a lot of manpower in Kunar Province and release footage from there on weekly basis. Pakistan needs to investigate if the attacks in Quetta originate from there. Tell Afghan government to eliminate ISIS safe havens in Kunar that are used to attack Pakistan.

Nobody is mentioning the political crisis in Balochistan - there's no functioning government and the Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri resigned today.

There's been a spate of ministerial resignations so no wonder lawlessness is occurring in the midst of a political crisis.
