Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan suffered multiple stab injuries including one closer to his spine after a robber allegedly barged into his residence in Mumbai's Bandra (west) and stabbed him around 2:30am on Thursday. Police said the attacker fled the scene after attacking the actor and that they were trying to trace him. They were in the process of registering a First Information Report and have formed multiple teams to nab the assailant.

A police officer said Khan was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital and that it was initially unclear if he was stabbed or injured in the scuffle with the robber. "We are investigating the matter. The Mumbai crime branch is conducting a parallel investigation into the incident," he said.

Lilavati Hospital chief operating officer Niraj Uttamani said Khan was hospitalised at 3:30am with six injuries of which two are deeper. "One of the injuries is closer to his spine. Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi are operating on him. We will be able to tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done," said Uttamani.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan out of danger after being stabbed

Popular Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has undergone surgery and is out of danger after he was stabbed by an intruder in his home overnight, his team has said.

The attack took place early on Thursday morning in an upscale neighbourhood in the Indian city of Mumbai, where Khan lives with his family.

City police told BBC Marathi that the actor was injured after a scuffle broke out between him and an unidentified man who entered his house sometime after midnight.

Police have formed teams to investigate the matter.

"Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress," Khan's team said in a statement.

Speaking to reporters after the surgery, Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where Khan is admitted, said that the actor "sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine".

"A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team," he said.

Khan is married to Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan and the couple have two children. The family have not made any public statements yet but Khan's team said they were safe.

The exact details of the assault are not clear yet. Police have said that "an unknown person" had entered the actor's home.

"After that, an argument broke out between Khan and the intruder," Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam told BBC Marathi.

Khan's team said it was a case of "attempted burglary" but did not share more details.

"We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter," they said.

On January 16, at 2 am, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified man multiple times at his Bandra home. He suffered deep wounds and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he is underwent surgery. According to the hospital statement, Saif suffered six stabs, out of which two were deep. The incident took place on Thursday when the accused entered Saif's home. During the attack, some family members were present in the house.

In Hindustan anything is a possibility.

I dont watch Bollywood movies but from reading a few reports, it seems it may be a targeted attack. Or could just be a robbery gone wrong but the attacker planned this. Stabbing someone 6 times, usually means you aim to kill.

No, as long as the spine isn't severed, there shouldn't be any neuromotor disability. The cerebrospinal fluid acts as a protective cushion for the brain and spine.
 
where was the security? is that much easy for someone to get into the house of a super star without any trouble?
 
It seems the house help helped the intruder access into the home. Pretty sure she knows about it.

That is likely even more dangerous in present day India, as members of the ruling party have been openly promoting fear mongering narratives to demonize Muslims who marry Hindu women under the guise of ‘Love Jihad.’

This is a law and order issue. How can Modi be responsible ? My answer will be the same if this was a Congress gov or Samajwadi gov or any gov. The baap ka bigda is a chronic Ind issue no matter who is in power. That is the Id mentality , no party or person can change it. Change has to come from within. A politician in Ind is way more powerful than one in USA. Laws apply equally for all in the US, not the case for Ind politicians no matter what party they are.

Cases have been pending in Ind system for decades. Also Ind had a huge pop growth last 20 years and Ind courts are ill equipped. There is a reason why Ind is still a developing country. And an FYI. My Ind system justice knowledge is pretty good. The issue is that corruption is prevalent in Ind and a change in societal attitude alone can cure it. No leader or political leader can magically make it disappear
 
The news comes as an absolute shocker. Really really sad to know about it. This shouldn’t happen to anyone. Saif Ali Khan has always been one of my favorites for being a gentleman with a lot of class that cannot just be a matter of him being an actual price. He’s genuinely a well raised man. I hope the coward who did this act is caught soon and gets the strongest punishment possible. This just sounds so much more than a robbery attempt.

Pity at people using this to flare communal tensions. The only minority Saif Ali Khan belongs to is the ultra rich minority of the 0.0001% people in the country and this is as freak of an incident as Kim Kardashian getting robbed at gunpoint.
 
Looks like the maid servant is responsible. The attack was done for money.

Man detained over knife attack on Bollywood actor

Police in the Indian city of Mumbai have detained a man in connection with the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, according to media reports

Khan was stabbed during a scuffle at his residence with an unidentified man on Thursday morning. The actor is recovering after surgery.

Police have seized CCTV footage from the actor's residence in the upscale neighbourhood of Bandra and initial reports suggest the attack may have been intended as a theft.

It is not clear whether the detained man was the intruder.

The BBC has accessed a statement given by a nurse who works in Khan's home to the police, which provides some details about the events that unfolded on the night of the incident.

Eliyama Philip, who takes care of Khan's son, said she first noticed the shadow of a man near the bathroom door late at night while she was in the child's room with the nanny.

Ms Philip said a man appeared holding a wooden object in one hand and a long blade in another and warned the two against making any noise. He demanded 10m rupees ($115,477; £94,511), she said.

A scuffle soon broke out, during which Ms Philip was injured. Meanwhile, the nanny fled the room.

According to the nurse's statement, Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, rushed to the room after hearing the commotion. She said the attacker struck Khan with a blade when he confronted him, then fled the house.

Khan suffered several injuries - including one on the back of his neck - in the attack.

Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where Khan is being treated, said that when the actor arrived, he was bleeding from his spine with a knife fragment embedded. The fragment was surgically removed, and fluid leakage was controlled. Doctors said that timely treatment prevented severe spinal damage.

Dr Dange said on Friday that Khan is "better now".

"We made him walk, and he walked well. Looking at his parameters, his wounds and all the other injuries, he is safe to be shifted out of the ICU. He has to take several precautions. He has to take rest and his movement has been restricted for a week," he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai police Dixit Gadam said that the weapon used for the attack has not been found and that they have registered a complaint based on the nurse's statement.

"The accused used the fire escape ladder to enter," he said. "The investigation is going on to determine how the house's door was opened or how the intruder gained access."

Khan, 54, is also a producer, who has appeared in several films and TV shows over the years. He is known for his quick wit and comic timing.

His portrayal of the antagonist in the 2006 critically acclaimed Omkara was widely praised. He has won multiple awards, including the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, in 2010.

Khan is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actor Sharmila Tagore.

Love Jihad is when a muslim man coverts a non-muslim women in lieu of marriage/love. It is rampant in India but this case has nothing to do with it.

Here Saif Ali Khan got attacked by a robber who was demanding 1 crore rupees as per the house maid. The investigation is still pending. However, usual suspects already giving it a communal colour just bcoz of the Khan surname.

Btw, Saif Ali Khan ko name aur fame kisne diya? Who has made him superstar? Same Indian public na? Let me know when a Kumar or Kapoor makes it big in Pak film industry.

I agree, I doubt Hindu extremists will attack a famous Bollywood actor for marrying a Hindu girl, as they are all in awe of famous Muslims esp actors.

These bollywood muslim actors are extremely secular. At least most of them. They would be sent to heaven in any islamic country if they do the same stuff they do in India.

I never said attack on Mr. Khan has to do with “Love Jihad”.

Can you please point exactly when I suggested this attack was correlated with “Love Jihad”

I simply replied to the comment within the context, which was that inter faith marriage has been made extremely dangerous for the couples by the ruling party.

Do not care much about Mr. Khan but I hope he fully recover.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after he was stabbed by an intruder at his posh Mumbai residence in a robbery attempt early Thursday morning. Saif Ali Khan was jabbed six times, including in his neck with a 2.5-inch piece of the blade, that was later removed from his spine after a five-hour-long surgery. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto rickshaw reportedly accompanied by his older son Ibrahim Ali Khan. In a recent media interaction, the auto driver recalled the night when he dropped ‘a passenger with blood-soaked kurta’ to the Bandra hospital unaware that the man was Saif Ali Khan.

“It was only when we reached the hospital gate that he called the guard to fetch a stretcher, saying he was Saif Ali Khan,” Auto rickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana told reporters in Mumbai on Friday. He recounted that as he was passing by the Satguru Darshan building, where the actor resided, a woman and few others, signaled for him to stop his rickshaw.

“Then the person whose white kurta was soaked in blood got in the auto. I noticed he had neck and back injuries, but did not notice the hand injury,” the driver described the wee hours of Thursday in vivid details.

The driver confirmed that the actor managed to walk into the rickshaw despite his condition. “He (Saif) walked into the auto. There was a seven- or eight-year-old boy who also boarded the rickshaw,” he added when asked if Saif’s son Taimur accompanied him to the hospital.

Initially, the plan was to head to Holy Family Hospital in Bandra. However, Saif requested a change of destination and directed the driver to Lilavati Hospital, also located in Bandra, the driver said.

When Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan arrived at the hospital, he reportedly identified himself at the gate. "Please bring a stretcher. I am Saif Ali Khan," he told the guard, according to Bhajan Singh Rana’s accounts.

The journey took just seven to eight minutes and they reached the hospital around 3 a.m. “I didn’t take any fare from him,” the driver revealed, recounting the urgency of the situation.

The actor was speaking with the boy in the auto, Rana said, adding there was also another young man in the auto, in an apparent reference to Ibrahim Ali Khan, the 23-year-old son of Saif and his first wife, Amrita Singh.

For the unversed, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked while he was with his family at their residence in the 12-floor apartment building. The incident occurred as Khan was with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two sons, eight-year-old Taimur and four-year-old Jeh.

He could be. No one violently attacks someone(in this case a well known celeb Saif) unless he is out of his mind. If he was in his senses, he would try to escape the moment someone notices his presence.

He must have atleast 10 cars but none of his wife,daughter, son drove .it says everyone is stoned or completely intoxicated.i guess its the normal story for most of bollywood.

The manhunt to arrest the intruder who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan in his Bandra residence on Thursday is still ongoing, with the Mumbai Police recording statements of over 30 people. One person has been detained for questioning.

One suspect was detained in Chhattisgarh on Saturday in connection with the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence earlier this week.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Aakash Kailash Kannojia, was intercepted by Chhattisgarh Railway Protection Force (RPF) when he was onboard the Gyaneshwari Express train in Durg district.

Mumbai Police had alerted the railway police with the suspect's photo and location details.

According to Chhattisgarh RPF, the photo of the accused in the Saif attack case shared by Mumbai Police matches the appearance of the person detained from the train. However, final confirmation will be made after Mumbai Police will reach Chhattisgarh and conduct further interrogation, sources said.

A Mumbai Police team is expected to reach Raipur by a flight in the evening and take his custody.

Earlier in the day, a man was detained in Madhya Pradesh, sparking speculation about his possible connection to Saif Ali Khan's attack incident. However, authorities dismissed the claims and revealed that the detention was related to a separate case.

The 54-year-old actor suffered multiple stab injuries, including on his neck and near the spine, in the attack at his house in Bandra in the wee hours of Thursday (January 16). Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw, where he underwent emergency surgery and is said to be out of danger.

Over 50 hours have passed since the actor was attacked, yet the hunt for the assailant remains underway. A fresh CCTV footage of the intruder surfaced earlier in the day, showing him buying headphones from a shop in Dadar after attacking Saif Ali Khan.

According to Mumbai Police, the attacker likely took a train from Bandra to move around Mumbai or to flee to another place. Several police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage of different railway stations in the city to track down the main accused.

The attacker, according to sources, entered the room of Saif Ali Khan’s younger son, Jehangir (Jeh), and demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom. Notably, he did not touch the jewellery that was kept open in the room.

Even Saif Ali Khan's wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, informed Mumbai Police that the intruder got aggressive during his scuffle but did not touch jewellery kept in the open.

India today again reported with different name.Seems the guy has multiple aliases and police are still verifying the identity. original name seems to be Mohammad Sajjad alias BJ alias akash Kailash.For non Indians purpose , akash kailsh(sky Himalayas)is a complete made up name .it cant be a name.

During a media briefing on Sunday, Mumbai police stated that the arrested suspect in Saif Ali Khan attack case is likely a Bangladeshi national, based on the belongings seized by the authorities. Moreover, the attacker had changed the name to Vjay Dass after entering India, according to Mumbai Police.

DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam stated that the arrested accused has been identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, who entered the actor’s house with the intent to commit robbery. “On January 16, at 2 am, actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his residence. FIR was registered and one accused has been arrested. His name is Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, he is 30 years old. He entered the house with the intention of robbery. He will be produced in the court and custody will be demanded. Further investigation will take place later… We doubt he is of Bangladeshi origin…,” Dixit Gedam said.

According to Gedam, the accused came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. Initially, he stayed in the city before moving to its outskirts. During this time, he worked for a housekeeping agency. “He was using Vijay Das as his current name. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then in the vicinity of Mumbai. The accused used to work in a housekeeping agency.” In the wee hours of Sunday, Cops announced the arrest of the primary suspect in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case from the Thane West area of Maharashtra.

What do we know about Saif Ali Khan stabbing case?

Saif Ali Khan, received six stab injuries in his Bandra apartment by a man who intruded for burglary. Police said the entire family – Saif Ali Khan, his wife and fellow star Kareena Kapoor, and their two sons, four-year-old Jeh and eight-year-old Taimur – were home along with their five house helps.

Saif Ali Khan was rushed to a Lilavati Hospital around 2 am, where he underwent an emergency surgery and was declared out of danger, according to doctors.

The investigation is ongoing and Mumbai police is probing further into the case.

May be u missed it as twitter is not accessible in pak.as per post no 4 ,pak news paper blamed indians especially hindus for attacking muslims

What is even sadder, rather funnier, is how some jobless former Pakistani politician loser comes out to give this incident a religious colour, when the muslims in his own country are getting butchered daily.
Anyway, Pakistanis, please keep the entertainment coming.

India Today confirming the same, read post #71. Though I never had doubt from the beggining what kind name the culprit will have as it is always these ususal suspects. What India...what UK...what USA...what Europe..you name it...it is always them. What is funny in all these though that everyone started bashing India since the actor was muslim including Pak minister and some posters here. Now all will go underground.
 
It will interesting to know the reason why this illegal Bangladeshi named Shariful have planned this attack on Saif. What was his motive? Is it because Saif recently joined PM Modi and Bangladeshi extremists hate Modi these days for supporting Hasina?
 
Also a shout out to our Indian liberals and anti nationals who were mocking Saif in social media saying his bad time had started just bcoz he has met Modi.
