Bowling action of Sunil Narine found to be legal

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that following remedial work and retest, the bowling action of the West Indies’ Sunil Narine has been found to be legal, and the off-spinner can now resume bowling in both international cricket and domestic cricket events worldwide.

At the retest, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extensions in Narine’s bowling action for all his deliveries that were tested was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions.

The umpires are free to report Narine in the future if they believe he uses a suspect action.

The retest was performed at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai on 28 March.

Narine was reported during the third One Day International against Sri Lanka on 7 November 2015 in Pallekele and subsequently banned.

Good news for the guy, will he be just as good with his altered action, only time will tell.
 
Saw his new action, won't be effective at all. He'll either be smashed around and disappear from T20 circuit or will go back to chucking.
 
Cricket was a lot better before icc started implementing rules that nobody has cared about for the last 50 years.

I hope one day sanity prevails and all this reporting of actions stops
 
Why don't KKK get badree instead, he's in form and 0 chance of chucking.
 
chucking rules should be eliminated . Bowlers should be allowed to bend their arms .

The game has been unfair to bowlers for too long .

I find it very suspicious that his action was cleared just after the world cup where WI could not use his services, and just before the IPL where his franchise teams can.

A bit tired of these testings now. ICC should protect future of offspinners by allowing a limit of 20 degrees.

You're actually right.

Cricket WAS a lot better before people starting misusing the leniency of ICC and starting throwing JAVELINS as balls.

Somewhere a line has to be drawn.
 
If his new action is affective it will give kkr a good chance of being ipl champions :narine :narine :narine
 
Will most probably be a repeat of Ajmal's situation where he gets smashed around the park with his new action.

But I agree the limit should be raised. Cricket is better with players like Narine, Ajmal and it adds balance to the game in this day and age of batsmen dominating the sport. You still need skill even if you are chucking otherwise all chuckers would be successful.

But that Javeline man is still playing...so the line was drawn away from India I guess?
 
Clearing action is first step of the way. Yet to be seen if he'll have same effectiveness with his new action :ajmal2 .
 
He is going to flight the ball a bit more and it won't have much dip so batsmen will find him easy to pick.

I've said it before Taskin ever got called. It's not the chucking but the innovation that giving a little more leeway to the bowlers breeds that adds more balance between bat and ball. At the end of the day Ajmal and Narine were stars and people enjoyed seeing them make batsmen look clueless with their unorthodoxy. In this age of T20 cricket I don't see why this ridiculous law can't be reviewed, especially when batsmen can pretty much do anything they like, if it ultimately leads to the sport being more entertaining for the spectators.

Bowlers have their say very much in Tests. In ODIs its competitive after the new rules and T20 cricket is more exciting when there are runs on the board. Thats why people see T20s.

There is no need for any extra advantage to bowlers. Its all balanced.
 
Poor Saeed Ajmal.. had to pay the price for making Tendulkar his bunny.
 
Lab testing is not good enough...
If he bowls illegal ball 1 out of every 50 balls, no umpire is going to report him again...and I have doubt if umpires or he himself would be aware of the issue.
 
Good to see chuckers getting kicked out of the game . Teams that relied on chuckers are gonna struggle in all formats from now on :srini
 
It is a known fact that West Indies players are very close to BCCI. BCCI won't let any West Indian players get banned.

BCCICC at it again.
 
This guy always make sure he is available for the IPL he missed on the last 2 icc tournaments to ensure his action is not called. :msd

Sunil Narine chucking so blatantly again

He started the IPL bowling and has progressed now to pure chucking since it seems the umpires are not going to do anything about it.

Anyone got slow motion screenies?
 
Even with chucking, it doesn't look like he is the same bowler again.
