After playing domestic cricket for 9 years, people like Rashid Latif, Basit Ali (who has been a domestic coach), now want Akif to change his bowling action.

This guy picked wickets with the same action in domestic. It doesnt matter if its not pleasing to the eye, but if he has had success with this, why everyone wants to change it?

====

Basit Ali criticized Akif Javed bowling style with following critique:

"Akif Javed took two wickets on his debut; however, he tends to take a long jump during his delivery stride. This excessive jump affects his ability to maintain a consistent line while bowling. Speaking from experience, I believe Aaqib Javed and Azhar can provide him with valuable guidance to improve."

A glimpse of his bowling action 👇

Probably the most pleasing action I've seen ridiculously smooth

Who says the bowling action is not pleasing to the eye. It’s beautiful and feels like a happy horsey dancing his way to bowling line.

Never ever underestimate a Dinda academy graduate.

I was told he is like Shoaib Akthar. Was bowling in low 130s and couldn’t control the seam. Decent bowler but not matching the hype.

I was told indians used to practice Sati.
yeah based on your world view , I would understand those sources. It makes sense but here you go in this case. First thing I could find with a quick search but I swore I heard on hear that he was express quick.

He has hit 150 + but that's in T20 cricket.

He gets more bounce than the other Pakistani seamers and averages around 136 kph over 10 overs in ODIs .

Thanks. Not sure why the guys above were triggered. I merely made an observation. He probably did have a reputation of being express on PSL but in international looked like a 130-138 clicks typical workhorse bowler. Couldn’t control the swing and seam but obviously young days (in terms of experience) and was not totally bad.

Clocked upto 144 kph to be fair. New ball control is not upto the mark though.

His jump action is suboptimal for momentum transfer.

He needs to sit with biomechanics expert and bowling coach and correct it in off season.

why?

When he has had success with this action and with a new action he may not have success.

Plus, the people who want to change his action were coaches in domestic, why didnt they change it than?

Akif had a lower jump 4 years ago when playing with ISLU (video shared below). He wasnt doing aswell back than, but now he has done better so why change it if it aint broken.

The video you shared is of him saying his role model is Akthar, while you claim fans said he is the next akhtar.

Again. My point was what has that got to do with this thread which is related to his bowling action.

Ok, so what do you want ,an apology from me?

I merely made an observation about Akif Javed and his bowling speed. Did I saying anything offensive or about his personal life?

Let the mods decide what to keep and delete. What’s triggering you ?

stop spreading lies. And once yo get caught with your pants down just quietly move along.

You spread a lie that people compared him to Akhtar, only for him to say Akhtar is his role model.

Also, dont hijack the thread with a topic that is not related to this.

Misbah fans should stay away from young emerging players … y’all just want Misbah’s son to come play for Pakistan

Wow so this guy cant bowl well with a lower jump?

Very short term talent then. Won't last long and will be in the rubbish heap

Akhtar cant bowl with a Sohail Tanvir like bowling action. Shadab cant bowl like Warne. Barely any kid can bowl with the bowling action that Akram had.

Point is, if something is working for someone why change it. Whether he is rubbish or not would be based upon how he bowls not on the basis of a bowling action.

Bowling with a higher jump like has will have its impact on his knees in the not so distant future.

How many bowlers have you seen survive in recent times with such jumps?

They fizzle out pretty quickly.

But it got him to International cricket though, didnt it?

If it is working for him, why change it. What is the gurantee if he changed his action to something different but he still keeps the same impact he is having?

Im not saying he is very good or bad, but im just pointing that sometimes there are anamolies. I agree with what you have said and that is something that should be emphasis on u19 cricket. But if someone is an anamoly, and is doing well why change it

His pace already declines after that 3rd or 4th over mark. Once his bowling load increases, that pace will decline further. Anyway it's just my prediction. Getting to international cricket and achieving sustained success is completely different.

All these Ex cricketers start correcting these youngsters when they play a game or two in international cricket just to gain followers and viewership on social media. If they really care about these youngsters, they would have corrected these mistakes in domestic matches, but no, who would have known that Rashid Latief or Basit Ali identified the flaws in one's technique and skills. Pathetic opportunistic people.
