Interms of quality of cricket PSL obviously is and likely will be miles ahead. But BPL had added a far better talent pool of international players. Ofcourse most of these are already playing in the PSL but there is a heavy number of players who are currently playing international cricket who would greatly enhance the PSL in-terms of quality and competitiveness.

I think it's time PSL stopped picking so many retired players and selected more current players. Though retired players definitely bring alot of valuable experience I think the scouts should try and get guys like Williamson, Faulkner, Lynn and Anderson too.

The BPL list is misleading. The stars are basically on "pay as you play" deal- most of them will only play 1/2 games.

To be honest this debate has been had in a lot of threads already.

Also, BPL will start to lose out from next edition once the Global League is established.

Not all of them will come around for one match or two. Some will play for the entire season.

Lankan cricketers will play for small number of matches

PSL is doing just fine. Decent international pool if you ask me

IMO BPL lucked in this year because there isn't much international cricket being played in November. Won't always be the case. PSL will never have the top crop of international players because a) they play during a relatively busy period of the international schedule and b) no top player wants to risk an injury before the IPL.

Also if I remember correctly Tamim and Shakib played in PSL last year but everyone knew that the two could play a maximum of 4-5 matches. So even if top players swing by for a small stint that's not bad for viewership

I don't see how "improving the talent pool" helps the PSL

PSL is very entertaining, and it's producing excellent talent for Pakistan already.

Adding bigger names may just take the focus off some of the emerging players

Chris Lynn not available... Shoulder injury

A lot of those people probably signed up before they had a chance for the GT20. Although you'd figure the CSA would be recruiting players quite early especially for their debut season.

I might actually watch the BPL this year. Being a Sylheti, I hope all the young seam bowlers from Sylhet (Ibadat, Imran, Khaled) plus one from Chittagong Yasir Arafat Mishu get chances.

lol PSL clearly has a better list of players available

Only Kane Williamson is a big name who PSL doesnt have

PSL doing ok with their system and BPL is doing fantastic with their system. No need to swap their system.

Zampa ? Buttler? Anderson? Munro? Mathews? Faulkner, Rashid Khan.

PSL however has Sam Billings Jason Roy KP

bigger names will attract bigger sponsors and raise the profile of the league

and the emerging players as well as the local players will not be affected because of the quota

but it is now time for the psl to move on from expired former players like kp who are not good enough to get ipl contracts anymore

we need more current stars no doubt

KP still has more star value as compared to williamson.

Firstly, psl have enough star quality to accommodate the amount of team it has. Secondly, the timing of the psl is such that you can't have centrally contracted players from South Africa, Australia and NewZealand. Lastly, we don't have enough time and money in the league to cause early test retirements. All these issues, at least most of them, can be resolved once the cricket comes back to Pakistan!

I dunno about that

PSL is working really really well. Sure there is always room for improvement, but I don't think the PSL NEEDS big starts.

Its totally fine with the talent that has been available in the previous 2 seasons.

Management has bigger concerns anyway - like hosting more matches in Pakistan, creating better pitches...
