Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day? I often miss it preferring to have lunch during the break. What do others here have for breakfast if they have it?

Thrs a australia Dr, who on many bbc programmes on healthy eating, I've seen a video of him on a Australian YouTube news vide, he did research with he top PhD diet DR in the world and they came to the conclusion that if you need to lose weight breakfast is not important at all, you only need to eat 2 meals in total 1800 calories.
However this study was based on how to lose weight

In Pakistan this summer I’ve been having very heavy breakfasts made for myself. In Canada usually I’ll make 2 boiled eggs and have oats with berries. Sometimes I’ll pick up a coffee on the way to university from the Tim Horton’s drive thru

I may have toast or a bowl of cereal at most. Lunch is when I am digging in:inzi2

In usual workdays, I only eat a date for breakfast since I have to sit for entire day and eating roti makes my belly feel bloated. It depends on the type of activites you're supposed to do during day time.

At holidays, yes.

And many of my colleagues eat it regularly (unless they be late at work). Infact they often get surprised hearing that such a huge person like me dont eat roti at breakfast.

In Pak many have roti for breakfast. My family there do it as well:))

It is important because of the significant gap between dinner and breakfast. Never skip it.

I had gastristis Issues few years ago and I changed my Diet forever. In Breakfast I have a Almond milk smoothie. I add a Banana, couple of strawberries and a apple. It gives me such a refreshing start of the day.

I think that’s a bit of a myth as well. I myself have used interminnent fasting successfully and oit on quite a bit of muscle. I know many fit guys who skip breakfast. I don’t do it anymore but overall daily nutrition is much more important than meal timing, in my opinion

Most people usually cannot manage more than three meals a day because of various reasons, which is why breakfast is very important.

I guess it depends on your eating habits. If your nutrition for the day is locked in then you don’t need to eat breakfast

I usually skip breakfast and just have coffee until and don't eat until noon. I guess it all depends on what your body is used to, skipping breakfast has helped me keep my weight in check.

I live by the adage- 'breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper'.

Breakfast options in Tamil cuisine are awesome, always a feast for me. For dinner I have a couple of fruits and some boiled vegetables, helps me sleep better.

Define breakfast. In the Intermittent Fasting world, whatever meal you have after the fast is over is technically a “break fast,” so the common exhortation to never miss breakfast is inapplicable, because no one ever misses breakfast, unless they’re on a hunger strike.

If you mean what passes for breakfast, i.e. a meal in the morning before work or school, it isn’t all that important. Cartisol levels are up because you are dreading work or school, and in many cultures, breakfast is mainly carbs, which elevates insulin, that too on an empty stomach. I’ve found it best to therefore skip “breakfast,” except on weekends when it’s late anyhow and it’s more a brunch than breakfast.

It is though i have a very spartan one mostly - over night soaked almonds -about 10 , 2 walnuts , 1 boiled egg & a glass of Coconut water followed by a milky sugarless tea . To balance this , i have lunch by 1 pm .

I usually have yogurt with nuts and a very strong black coffee for breakfast. Keeps me full until lunch.

On weekends, I may eat some cereal or two fried eggs with a toast.

How is that a spartan breakfast?

I used to eat 6 eggs, a bowl of cereal with whole milk and some dark chocolate for breakfast when I was gaining weight to get by bench to 275 pounds. People out here counting walnuts :))

Lol spartan breakfast i drink 2 litres milk that too buffalo milk the most nutritious milk and 4 wheat rotis and 3 bananas.

I think it pretty much depends on ur body. Some people need the extra energy from food to operate early in the morning. I was trying to lose weight so i tried intermittent fasting I realised the only good thing was I could have a larger lunch and dinner since I did not eat breakfast. I think a light breakfast is good just to keep u going for the day.

I believe you should always have breakfast like a king.

Lunch and more importantly the dinner should be light.

From since I was like 3, I used to hate waking up in the morning. Ofc most kids do, but I was exceptional at not leaving the bed for school. Breakfast was force fed. Both my mom and dad's sides of the family are very big on breakfast being a big meal, so now it's a habit ingrained in me for 20+ years.

Even on the very rare chance I don't have time for breakfast, will grab a bite on the go still.

Don't understand how people go to jobs on an empty stomach in the mornings then wait a whole 4-5 hours before eating something proper. Would understand if fasting, intermittent or religious.
