Right. This may sound bizzare. I was watching a few clips on old ODIs from 70s and 80s today. I was thinking that how the game has evolved and how differently ODIs are played nowadays. The way the game is being played, I feel it has become too predictable and some changes need to be tried. I want to make the game more interesting and get the same feel as watching the last day of a thrilling test match.
My suggestion is as follows:
1. Introduce a new format on a trial basis and call it ODI plus
2. This will be a 60 overs per side
3. Pink ball to be used
4. Only one ball to be used (this will bring back spinners and reverse swing in the game)
5. 2 bouncers per over allowed
6. Bowlers can bowl a max of 15 overs
7. 15 minute break after 30 overs.
The above format will mean that bits and pieces cricketers will be erased from the game for ever. You will survive only you have the technique and stamina. More quality will be on display as the main bowlers will be able to bowl 15 overs. I genuienly feel this will make a thrilling contest. What do you guys think?
