Can cricket cool political tension between Pakistan and India?

In light of the recent Champions Trophy final, we all saw how well players from across the border got along with one another, posing with photos with one another's children and family.

Could cricket be used as a tool to cool off tensions between the two countries?

Or do their issues run far deeper?

Yes it can be a factor, it depends on the players too not just the sport itself. Two teams coming together in such a friendly way sends a positive message to average guy in both countries. Both teams in general looked friendly, compare their behavior to Afridi and Gautam Gambhir. Indian fans have also become much more humble after the loss.
