Can Pakistan ever play India on a field of cricket after the aggressive tone from some of the former India cricketers?

Cricket has always been more than just a game between India and Pakistan—it’s a high-stakes rivalry filled with passion, pride, and intense emotions. But with recent aggressive statements from players like Shikhar Dhawan, calling Pakistan a ‘ghatiya desh,’ the divide seems deeper than ever. Can these two nations still set aside political tensions and take the field together, or has the hostility reached a point of no return?

Talking without proof.. As usual

Gautam Gambhir speaking, when asked for his view on India-Pakistan cricket:

"My personal answer to this is absolutely no."

"Till all this doesn't stop, there should not be anything between India and Pakistan."

"Ultimately, this is (the) government's decision whether we play them or not.”

"This is not up to me, it's not in my jurisdiction. This is for BCCI and, more importantly, the government to decide whether we should play them or not.”

"Whatever decision they make, we should be absolutely fine with it and not politicise it."

PLEASE SEE THE TOPIC AND THEN POST... STOP BRINGING POLITICAL STUFF HERE...

Ever since Pak has started losing to them on the field their cricketers have been mocking not just our cricket but the country as a whole. Cricketers before were very measured on their hate against Pak because the on field results weren't in their favor, now they just go full throttle anti-pak.

Meanwhile our cricketers are docile & submissive not just on the field but outside of it too, I can never forget Harris Rauf saying something on the lines of "Kohli jaisay baray player say hi do chakkay khaye hain, konsi bari baat hai". Just shows the defeatist mindset as an active player, maybe post retirement you can say something like this but not when you are an active player and will possibly play again.

Indians are hurting. After a few days they will cool down. My request is for them to realise that for over a decade they have had their minds polluted by extremism. Throw off the shackles , gently request Modi to retire like Rohit, and embrace us, we will accept your apology and move on to create a new future.

i dont see how modi can survive this embarrassment, the bjp is weakening anyway, a return to politics of non-hate will calm the situation in a few years. i actually envision a test series in 2031, with ali raza bowling to the first ball to a still only 15 year old suryavanshi.... i will buy a ticket for the game and will update this thread with a picture to prove my point :apology

This is how a Sane person should respond... Rana g... GOLD...

Learning here for Shikhar dhawan and sehwag...

Pak should never say no to play against India at any stage. Let them decide if they want to play with us or not. If both teams go in knockouts then the hypocrisy of so called patriotic indians will be visible

So this is "sane" in your opinion ... when a Cricketer is talking about what happens to Hindus if India is wiped out ?
Reply to him brother... GO on...

If you think what Shikar and Sehwag said is sane in comparison to what Rana g said, then You gotta learn the definition of SANE.

Naaah I am asking YOU based on YOUR comment above because I know Rana is not really a smart dude. So you think what he said was "sane" when he said that there is no Hindu country if India was destroyed ?

He also mentioned same thing about Pakistan that you ignored to suit your agenda.... Move on, Brother.

Explain shikhar and sehwag first.

I dont think Dhawan and Sehwag said anything about destroying Pakistan ... (atleast not in the images with translations that you posted.)

Where faheem said that he will destroy India or said that Pakistan should?

Read the whole thing and you will get the context... That is not a threat... Rana g is saying what he think would happen if India or Pakistan get wiped out..

I did read the whole thing.... the point is not even the Jat hot heads like Dhawan and Sehwag say something so shocking as "If Pakistan was wiped out...."

Why does it surprise people that cricketers are jingoists just like average people? There are rabid jingoists on this forum yet y'all are surprised by cricketers being just like you?

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."

I recall once in 2006 I had an Indian friend laugh and mock me when an earthquake happened in Kashmir. Seventeen years later when floods happened in Sindh he sent another mocking message laughing at the loss of lives. I now see a similar sense of hate in cricketers and celebrities on the other side. Lost quite a bit of respect. Despite all our flows quite proud that I have not encountered such sentiments here.

Surprised to see that you have kept him as a friend for all these years…

Ofcourse we can play. Sehwag said 'Pakistan Zindabhaag' after 2023 WC. However that didnt stop Pakistan to play India again. At the same token Afridi taken multiple digs on India and our beloved leader Modi....but cricket engagement never stopped.

India's issue is not with common Pak people or its cricketers. We just dont want terrorists based there killing our people with impunity. According to Imran Khan himself, there are more than 50 terrorist outfits active in Pakistan. India's issue is Pak govt not acting on them knowing that they exist in their soil.

Did you not tell that friend to shut up? How can that be a friend?

Yes india's issue is not with common Pak people which is why Dhawan called Pakistan a ghatiya country. If you want to hate, then be open with the hatred and not be apologists for those openly hating. Everyone knows what the likes of Dhawan and Sehwag meant.

Hopefully our rubbish cricketers can learn a lesson from our armed forces and play with more pride the next time we are up against them . Apart from CT final in 2017 I have never seen Pakistan team with a strong body language whenever they faced in recent times

sorry did not add details. Actually, we used to play on the same cricket team in Bahrain. These were two interactions 17 years apart so I use the term friend loosely. Was sad to see that in 17 years no real growth had happened. Of course, I said more than just shut up but would be appropriate to mention here.

Pakistani government and armed forces need to issue instructions and a message to all the players, anyone kissing the oppositions behind and asking for autographs after the game will not be selected for Pakistan again.

In contrast, see the tweets of appreciation for Virat Kohli by their Pakistan counterparts

Class tells.
Virat Kohli is an honorary Pakistani though. Not discrediting Pakistanis who appreciate him. In today's India, I can't see that happening as openly as before say when Wasim Akram and Imran Khan had huge followings.

It also helps that Kohli has always been the most well-behaved when Pakistan is the opposition and has never had a bad thing to say about any of them. He also expertly dodges any questions aimed to bait him on politics.

They don't want to play you.

They tell it to your face. That they don't want to play you.

Being classy means, stepping back from every opportunity to ask them over and over when you can play them again.

They did not post sane but Fawad's post is also ignorant. Nepal, Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname, singapore, Guyana, us, uk all have decent to significant population.

Also why will whole of india go away, at max 25% which is same as entire pak land mass.

He he
Kohli n rohit are going to play till 27 wc so high chances we might see that behaviour from some pak players

Pakistan should never play India again, it will be an insult to sport to play with a country who destroys mosques and kills children

Well if your cricket team had a way of turning humiliations into victories by repeating lies a thousand times over, even they would have "fared" just was well as your armed forces..

But unfortunately for them, cricket doesn't work like that and you have to actually win on the field.

Pakistani cricketers have been doing this stuff before the Indian players followed the trend. Now that as usual Indians give it back 10X Pakistanis start crying lol typical.

Relax, it’s just tweets. Not as if we fired another BrahMos at you.

India v Pakistan Asia Cup matches will go ahead, insists ECB

Organisers of the Asia Cup are confident there will be no cancelled matches when the competition takes place in the UAE next month.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be staged in India. However, it has been switched because of ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, and the matches will instead be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

India and Pakistan have been drawn in the same group. With a Super Four phase and a final to follow, it is possible they could face each other three times in Dubai between September 14 and 28.

Many fans do not believe the sides should be playing each other because of the political situation between the two countries.

At a veterans tournament - the World Championship of Legends (WCL) - in the UK this month, an Indian side including stars of the past like Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan opted out of playing Pakistan.

Subhan Ahmed, the chief operating officer of the Emirates Cricket Board, said the same situation is unlikely to occur in the Asia Cup.

“We can’t make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like comparison,” Subhan said.

“When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance.

“That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision of announcing the schedule for the countries. So hopefully we won’t be in a situation as there was at the WCL.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) responded furiously to what occurred in the WCL in the UK, in which the Pakistan team reached the final, where they lost to an AB de Villiers inspired South Africa.

They have issued a “blanket ban” to players participating in the WCL in the future, because of the “appalling conduct of awarding points to a willfully forfeiting team”.

They also said the explanation of the cancellation of the fixture between Pakistan and India was loaded with “hypocrisy and bias”.

“The PCB has always advocated for the separation of sports and politics,” they wrote in a statement.

“Our unwavering belief is that cricket, like other international sports, should solely serve as a platform for goodwill, healthy competition, and mutual respect.

“For a tournament involving legendary players to be dictated by sentiments that undermine this fundamental principle is not only regrettable but also deeply concerning for the future of independent sporting events.”

While the WCL is a privately-run event, the Asia Cup is arranged via a council made up of the competing countries.

The UAE has been regarded as the perfect neutral territory in which to stage Asia Cup tournaments multiple times in the past. Indeed, the first edition of the tournament was played in Sharjah in 1984.

In recent times, crowd unrest has occurred during matches between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but fixtures between India and Pakistan have generally been played out in an amiable atmosphere.

Subhan said no additional security measures are in place for next month as yet, but that the tournament organisers will be guided by higher authorities.

“We are dependent on what the government advises us in terms of our preparation,” Subhan said.

“If there is any specific directive from the government as to what arrangements should be put in place related to the ongoing environment, certainly we would put those steps in place.

“For the moment, we haven’t received anything. We will be having meetings and asking for their advice, and will be acting accordingly.

“It would be the government who would take the lead in putting forward any specific arrangements if they were required.”

Next month will be the third time in the past four editions of the men’s Asia Cup that the UAE has played host to the competition, a sequence which started in 2018.

Between those times, Dubai International Stadium has also staged T20 World Cup finals in both men’s and women’s cricket.

“When the stadium was built, the vision of the people who invested into that project was huge,” Subhan said of the ground in Dubai Sports City, which opened in 2009.

“Without the surety of getting major ICC events, they invested in the infrastructure. Fifteen to 20 years down the line, they have realised what a good decision that was.

“To build a stadium of this stature, as well as with Abu Dhabi and Sharjah having continued to invest in their respective properties, it gives us the edge over various other potential hosts when it comes to major events.”

In a development that’s raising both eyebrows and concerns, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly been advised to prepare for a "permanent broken nose" if the Indian cricket team insists on participating in yet another high stakes ICC tournament. The warning comes not from doctors, but from decades of emotional trauma and post-match memes.

India's contradictory stance has been exposed numerous times. It's become a joke at this point. This has been going on since the 2019 CWC. "We won't play Pakistan, except in ICC Cricket World Cups, Champions Trophies T20 World Cups and Asia Cups"...arrey bhai peechay bacha kya test series ke ilawa? Everyone knows that the BCCI is not ready to alienate the broadcasters or the sponsors compromise on the money this match brings so I don't know why they insist on doing this song and dance every time, and wasting everyone's time.

If anyone should be demanding not to play India, it's the Pakistan. Considering the embarrassing performances they have been putting up for years..

Beggars can't be choosers so Pakistan will continue to play and then proceed . It has been happening for quite a long time now.

The real question is...Does the BCCI/ICC have it in them to finally let go off this overhyped pre determined fixture and start selling broadcast rights honestly and fairly?

India lost their last ODI series to SL and have won 3 out of 13 tests. Sit down.

Last ICC ODI knockout between the two sides >>> 5 random matches won by India

"5 random matches" :ROFLMAO:

We literally knocked your behinds out in the last 2 ICC tournaments and dropped you back to ISB airport. We dragged you to UAE and then humiliated you in your own tournament where you ended up with ZERO wins. Random matches sure man..

Really...joke is on me that I'm arguing with a guy whose username has "Rizwan" and "T20" and "Champ" in the same one kilometre radius.

If BCCI doesn't require it then they should forfiet the whole tournament.
You do realize that if the BCCI forfeits the entire tournament, the tournament itself will not happen. The broadcasters have to recover the $$$ they have agreed to pay. Without India, not much $$ coming in.

Case in point CT. They refused to kick India out despite the BCCI throwing a tantrum. Reason, $$$$!

But if the BCCI is that rich they shouldn't care as they can survive.

Even Asia cup share will be distributed among associates like afg, Oman, etc.bcci have never took its Asia cup share.
Even better give the shares to the associates but still boycott the tournament as they have enough money anyways.

Ambani is super rich, doesn't mean he stopped doing business..these kind of tournaments are meant to fuel the cricket and keep the other boards active, so that some players evolve and play for IPL..this will in turn increase the viewerships in IPL..

You honestly think the BCCI care about other boards.Which players after playing Asia cup have played IPL ?

What share? Without Ind. playing the broadcaster and the host are not going to make $$$. So nothing to distribute.

In fact I would hazard a guess that the broadcaster has a clause the Ind. must play or the contract is void.

Again, I am not saying the tournament cannot go on. Just that it will be a lot less lucrative financially.

There is no better example than Afganistan cricket team which was wholeheartedly supported by BCCI and plays in IPL..also many srilankan players who played in last Asian cups played in IPL too..ban team doesnt have talent but some of them still played in last few editions of IPL..Pak players are banned..So yes..India is caring for other boards and in talent hunt..

Afghanistan players are picked in ipl due thier success at international not just based upon Asia Cup.

My point is BCCI should do what's best for them.
