Can Faheem Ashraf be given a "Neil Wagner" role in the Pakistan side?

I am not comparing but I see fahim as a bowler who doesnt have much skill with regards to moving the ball. In PSL we have seen him getting lots of wickets with short ball because of his deceptive pace.

If we play him has 4th seamer, he would probably be bowling in short bursts like 4 overs. I think if he can be accurate with his bouncers and get it up near the head of the batsman at consistently 135-140kph he can be useful for Pakistan

Thoughts?

I think he does move the ball in to the right hander. Have seen it many a times. By no means a banana swing but good enough.

I liked what I saw from him even if wickets were not there to show. Wagner rol e could be interesting though its a big question he can execute it with mid 130's pace.

He's about same pace as wagner but obviously the accuracy and execution can be questionable

That's good and as long as there is swing available or he can move the ball he can bowl the traditional length

Faheem is a lot shorter and slower than Wagner, so can't fill the role as a hit the deck type bowler. He is a 130-135 swing/seam part time test 6th bowling option at best.

Firstly faheem is 135kph+ bowler and I don't think he's a lot slower than Wagner but obviously stamina wise I don't know. Good thing about wagner is his consistency and mostly he's 135kph or there abouts

Yes I also don't beleive he's a good enough test bowler atm, but he's going to play so has to perform some kind of a role in the bowling unit

He is 135+ in LOIs but in the longer format I've seen him bowl in the QeA and he was definitely below 135. However with his lack of height he needs to be bowling 140+ if he wants to be a serious test bowler. Wagner actually operates in the 137-142 range.

I agree Faheem deserves to play in tests because of his ability to score runs which are valuable to the team, so therefore I would like to see him focus more on batting because that is what ultimately Pakistan desperately needs.

I don’t think he can hold on to his test place unless he brings something with the ball.

Wagner is relentless. He keeps coming back without dropping off pace and accuracy even after bowling over 25 overs in a day. Total work horse.

I doubt Faheem has the fitness of Wagner. But Faheem can be used as a 10-15 over a day option to give rest to Amir/Hasan etc. A decent 5th bowler who can score handy runs down the order.

Agreed, just that he needs to bowl those 10-15 overs at 135-140 kph and test batsman against short ball when things aren’t happening.

Obviously he ain’t no where as good as Wagner but I just want him to use his bowling quota effectively in some way

I am so excited about the idea of a 135+ pace all rounder for the test team. Most invested in seeing his progress this year
