What's new

Can Fakhar Zaman prove to be a successful White-Ball captain for Pakistan?

The fakhar experiment as t20 opener is too late. He should have been tried ages ago but not now. Farhan is sitting out for him which isn’t right decision.

Saim and Farhan should open every game from now on. Just stick with them. They are the long term options and there aren’t many better options. Even if Fakhar finally makes it as a t20 opener, how many years will we realistically get out of it?

Fakhar should be stuck down at 4 or 5 where he was actually doing something at times. He will probably be able to perform there for longer if he clicks given he’s already 35.

This makes no sense. You're claiming hes 35 and should play at 4 to extend his career yet want him to open in odi which is even more demanding

If he was already performing for years in t20 it’s fine to continue opening. He might need to drop from opening to middle order in Odis eventually, but we’ll make that decision if or when he does fail at opening.

Fakhar hasn’t cemented the opening spot yet in t20s. Which is why it is a problem at his age. You can’t say he can come in and perform instantly even at his age of 35 in t20s.

Honestly wouldn’t mind him opening if it didn’t mean dropping Farhan. But if that’s the result of Fakhar opening (and I wouldn’t want to drop Saim either it’s not worth it). You are messing with long term potential in t20s for a guy who we are not even sure will perform or not at 35. That isn’t worth it.

If fakhar is 35 and declining its time to call it quits.

An opener should not play in the middle order
