Look, let's be honest.

Chances are we are going to lose it.

Maybe draw it (with some gritty batting and rain help).

But whatever we had to do this series has already been done.

History has been made.

This is already the greatest OVERSEAS series in India's history.

(Some might argue but that's ok.)

This effects of this series will reverberate and inspire future generations like no other (even other Asian teams).

A loss here is expected with a draw being hoped for.

So there will be no hard feelings if we lose.

But if we win.....

This would be BIGGER than a WC win for us.

So I say we just GO for it.

Chase the glory.

It's way better to lose Adelaide 2014 style scaring the crap out of Aussies than tamely get 180 all out.

If we lose wickets, we can course correct.

But if we don't and luck favours us, who knows what can happen.

A win here not only breaches the 33 year old Gabba fortress but it also will be the highest ever 4th innings chase on this ground.

So let's go get this and make this the GREATEST test series ever played. :D

This is BHARAT!

Now that I have provided the adrenaline rush, I hope we do not fall for the trap.

Let's settle for draw and go home smiling and laughing securing the Border Gavaskar trophy.

Only Pant can help and that too coz he doesnt care about match situation. If at all, he comes good, then match is ON

This is entering Shastri territtory

On paper we can but shouldn't risk it. Play out the overs, retain Border-Gavaskar trophy and make WTC Final qualification path easier.

We almost won against the Steve Waugh's legendary Australia in Australia if not for Waugh's heroics in the last session and signing off in a typical Steve Waugh fashion.

No. Win is out of question now. Thus pitch has life left unlike Sydney.

So here's my rain dance!
:108: :108:

If opener can add 80 odd runs then send pant at 3 .if he play blinder & Score 70-80 runs then we have some chance otherwise go for a draw

It'd be a remarkable achievement if we can just draw! The memories of 36 all out are still fresh in my mind.

Just to be clear... I am not advocating taking risks in the name of chasing.

We play the balls according to their merit and see where it leads us.

Be positive.

Guys like Gill, Rohit and Pant can be naturally very attacking.

If it comes off, chase is on.

If we lose wickets, then Pujara and Co will automatically shut shop.

We bat deep so if the top order gets us to 200....who knows what can happen.

Draw would be great but let's not aimlessly defend and get bundled out in the process.

Not sure if this pitch would help us if we just keep blocking everything from ball 1.

Never say never. But if they manage to win, this will be the biggest win in the history of cricket. This team has shown they wont go down without fighting. And you never know if this defiance could convert into a win.

With the rain predicted, we won't have enough overs left to win. At max we will get 60 pvers of play on last day

India need to play day 5 session by session and just see at any point they can have ago at the target with out risk losing the game.

Two key players will be Rohit Sharma and Ishant Pant as they can both score quickly and in one session do some serious damage into eroding away this target.

In saying that i can see match been drawn from here.

I don't think we can chase this on a day 5 pitch but if we do I know what I am gonna do. I am gonna call in sick, open up that single malt that I have been saving up for special occasion.

If Virat Kohli was playing , we might have gone for it even on Day 5

Right now we have Pujara , Rahane , Mayank in middle order - not really the sort of guys who can push the scoring. They can save test matches but not win

So its up to Rohit , Shubman or Pant to produce an epic like Kohli's Adelaide knock in 2014.

Also 98 overs is tad too less. If we batted 20 overs today , then the team might have gone for it. Right now the mood is probably more towards saving the match

India just needs to shut down once Rohit gets out. India may get about 70-75 overs tomorrow, not enough to force a win but more than sufficient to
lose badly.

Mayank Agarwal can play at a quick rate. It's just that he doesn't seem to be in the best of form right now.

Yes. Doubt he has the aptitude to try to score quickly with his career on the line after a disappointing series. He will be more inclined to do a Hanuma Vihari & save his career ( which still looks doubtful once Kohli is back )

India’s best overseas win was England in 1986. 0-2 win vs. The Three Gs.

It’s pretty impressive to hold Australia away while missing half the first team though. They must have a deep squad strength.

If and it's a big 'IF' Rohit is unbeaten after the 1st session. We might just have a chance obviously provided we get the full quota of completed overs. We obviously ain't winning if a session is wiped out.

India miss the chance of win when they fail to bundled out Aus for less thn 200 runs. Imagine to win below 250 runs ,thn india will easily achieve the target. 328 is quite huge.

Agree with you, lets go for the kill man...

I think the best way will be to get to 180 safely at loss of three wickets and then unleash Rishabh Pant.

Pujara's part will be important.

Even if we have 30 overs to chase 150 we can give it a try.
Most important thing is to bat sensibly and not lose more than three wickets before getting to 180.
After that go full gung ho.

Tee hee. Unleash the Pant :)))

We would have whitewashed (4-0) even with this Australia side. One of Warner/Smith/Labuschagne would have score 200 twice in this series against us.
Big difference with top 5 to bottom 5.

It will be tough battle for India without Kohli because of 4th Innings of the match. But its possible to chase.

Rohit will be key. I doubt if Pant will be able to replicate what he did in Sydney. He can but those things don't happen everyday.

All depends on start. If we are 2 down at 40 or 50, all eyes will be on Pujara and Rahane to shut the shop. But if Rohit gives a good start and look set for a big one, we can go for a win here.

I think tomorrow is the day for the two senior men, Rohit and Rahane to step up.

I would actually love to see India chase this down. They deserve to win this series. Master Blaster Rohit Sharma needs to get into ODI mode.

What do you mean "even this Australia side"?

This exact side did whitewash Pakistan with both games ending in innings defeats. In fact this side is even stronger as Green >>> Head. :)

If India wants to have a crack at the target, then Pant needs to come in after one of the openers depart....

Depends on the start. If there is one team that can its India. But any team that goes a couple down chasing in a test match doesnt normally chase. If they can get through the first session without the loss of any wickets and a steady run rate they can do it. The key is to get to say 90-0. Then reassess after lunch or the break. If they get to 110-0 then its game on. As always its early wickets that will make the difference. If Aus dont get early wickets then they will start getting jittery.

Team India .. let's do this !

India should not try to go for the chase. I don't think they can maintain 3.65 rpo all day. If this test was a dead rubber then yes, but this is a series decider so they should bat normal and try to save this game.

To have any chance, india need to get 150 without losing more than a wicket . Unlikely, will take a draw

That’s why we need Rohit in the team. He may not fire tomorrow but if he does than the chase is on. If he get out below 80 (or Gill below 50) India should get its famed wall switched on. Then live to fight another day, in Mumbai, Motera & Kanpur.

No one else, Pant or Shirt, can bring India even close to the victory.

Don't want another heartbreak like 2014 Adelaide or stupidity like 2018 Oval.

India is not winning it barring a huge miracle. Rain will be factor between Australian win or draw.

They should go for the win and they have the ability to pull it off. Australians have been duly put in their places after the first test. They thought without Kohli, they would win this series 4-0 and here they are, on the verge of a possible 2-1 series loss. Hats off to India.

This will be a historic chase and series win if successful. Can't wait to see how it pans out.

Rishabh Pant will be key in my opinion, he's one to go for the win and not bat out for a draw.

Less than 1% chance of chasing it. Drawing will be a huge task if rain does not take away too many overs.

Everyone is talking about Hitman and Pant.

If Shubhman Gill finally gets that one big knock that is due, not many people are aware he's everything and more!!!

What do you think?

It's obvious. Scarred and scared Australia with their refusal to declare were basically trying their best to delay the inevitable :vk

India needs to be 100-150/1 to chase it. Not likely given how openers have gone so far. Normally you chase such targets by one of the top order really going big and keep playing shots.

180/2 till tea with Rohit and Rahane in. Then we can go for the chase if no rain comes. A herculean task to get till there though with just two wickets down.

This match will be a draw.

Firstly it will be a delayed start as rain is expected overnight and even at 9am tomorrow morning. So we lose out a few overs.

Secondly, we will lose out atleast an hour in the final session.

So realistically only 70 - 75 overs would be possible in the day's play.

If in case there is no rain then India needs to approach this session by session.

The first session will have 30+8 overs. If they score at around 3 an over and score 120 without losing more than a wicket and Rohit stays on the crease. That will leave 200 for next 2 sessions.

In ODIs Rohit's strike rate increases exponentially as his number of balls faced increases hence he has scored 3 doubles. So in the second session Rohit can go into ODI mode with Pujara holding one end tight. If Rohit plays in that mode for an hour the match will slip away from the Aussies. If we lose Rohit early in sesssion 2 it will be better to go for a draw. But if Rohit falls close to when team score is 200 then Pant/mayank can be promoted ahead of Rahane.

But this sounds like a movie script where everything goes as per plan which may not happen on a day 5 pitch.

As I said earlier the realistic result will be a draw due to the weather.

Nevertheless even a 1-1 would not be less than a series win for India given their resources used. I have tweeted to BCCI and Saurav to create a documentary series on this tour to know the dressing room chats and team selection discussions. Please can you guys too do the same so that the docu series becomes a reality.

Less than 1% chance of chasing it. Drawing will be a huge task if rain does not take away too many overs.

An Indian win requires a Rohit century while a draw requires Pujara half century. The latter has more realistic chances though.

Lol @ everyone going 100/0 and 180/1.

Get ready for a 45/4 when you wake up. :uakmal

This would be the best ever chance for India to go for it.

Aussie bowlers are exhausted. They are a shade of their true ability right now.

This depleted India side has no expectations on their shoulders. If they go home and lose 2-1 nobody will care.

But if they win, it'll go down as the greatest victory in the history of the country.

Losing it .Can't expect bowlers to bail us out with bat everytime

According to the current forecast we probably won't lose any overs to rain. If the openers get to 100/0, we can try going for a win. Otherwise nothing but a blockathon will get us through 3 sessions.

i think india stands a good chance, there wasn't too much in the wicket when aus batted yesterday, if they can somehow put australia under pressure with some aggressive cricket in the first session, i can see aus cracking.

India should go for the win. I would rather lose than draw.

but it is going to be a draw I recon

A draw will help us in WC instead of a lose.. I hope we have it in us for a blockathon, Vihari-Ash both aren’t therr

Send Pujara to bat at 5-6 and let the dashers have a go.

Rohit, Gill, Rahane, Mayank, Pant can all have a go at chasing this down or at least aim to contribute 200-220 runs in the first two sessions.

Pujara will not let the momentum flow

In the SCG 2nd inn, Pujara actually played really well with Pant and the chase was on at that point.

Why would India risk losing the series trying to go for a win? Even if this test is a draw India retains the trophy. If India is winning 3-1 or losing 3-1 then yes it would make sense to go for it.

In all honesty I don’t want him to play that though..

Does holding the trophy really matter. We'll get it back anyway when they come to India :warner

So many amazing things have happened this tour, might as well go down in a blaze of glory.
