Bangladesh innings (target: 266 runs from 50 overs) R B 4s 6s SR

Shakib Al Hasan b Boult 114 115 11 1 99.13
Mahmudullah not out 102 107 8 2 95.32

Both had majority of their runs scored through singles, doubles etc. and did not heavily or insanely rely on 4's and 6's to score their brilliant centuries despite being under immense pressure with team reeling at 33 for 4.

Even in the day and age of 321 runs targets being achieved with any hiccups (against the so-called great attacks), one can still score at 95+ SR and not take undue risks in trying to hit majority of runs through big shots!

When will Pak batsmen learn?

skills ka buhat fark hai, bhai.

And you are saying that Mahmudullah has certainly got skills by some magical wand and malik, azam, hafeez and sarfaraz dont have the skills.

Check out the averages of Babar, Malik or even Sarfaraz and their strike rates as well, its not about the skills its about applying them under pressure.

I think the stat is little misleading. there were 2 fours and the sixers was in the last four balls Sakib faced. so till 99 I think his scoresheet was 99 111 9 0 89.99.
the partnership was on ones and twos interped by boundaries with over 6RPO

Pakistan batsmen are very limited in everything whether it's technique or power game. They are just not good enough! Babar is only one who can play the role of accumulator and other batsmen have to play around him.

Bhai they didn't bat at 70 SR, they didn't show any grit or temperament or never say die attitude. Doesn't matter they won the match for their side, they should have batted at 70 SR.

we are over-analyzing. when ppl say skills they usually mean skills in game time. Otherwise they talk about ability or potential

I doubt it very much with all due respect, I think it is just a mindset our players are struck in i.e. oh to score at above 80 SR or at 90 SR and above, one must play all sorts of crazy shorts to achieve it especially in the air, and def on the leg side all the time. In doing so, one takes unlimited risks with ball going in the air from time to time and they eventually get caught!

It needs to be drilled in their head, like a memory implanted, by repitition done over time that as soon as you come to the crease, you number one job is to start looking for singles and doubles etc. and don't try to hit in the air until you are 100% sure it is a safe shot and you will not get out and put more pressure on the team!

You can't expect Azhar and Hafeez to improve in these areas so late in there careers

Pakistan must look for such batsmen who are quick on their feet, always look to score on every ball (not airy fairy shots), don't play too many risky shots, and are super fit etc.

We must dump people like Azhar, Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad etc. right away unless and until they work on their game in the domestic scene and are young enough to make a come back. If we want to be a top tier team, we must start now and Mickey Arther should start investing in that direction right after Champions Trophy!

We've got Malik and Sarfraz who build up their innings in the very same way but they are made to bat in the lower order and the tuk tuks are their to intoxicate the upper order.

In the top 4, the only accumulator should be Babar Azam; Azhar, hafeez needs to be thrown away.

You seem to have a different definition of the word "skill"

Applying your ability to bat well under pressure is in itself a skill. You seem to not agree with me on that regard.

Playing a pull off a fast bowler bowling over 85mph is a skill. Yes. But put a batsman in a situation with is team 3 down for 30 odd chasing 331 with a deep fine, deep square and deep midwicket in place and then asking him to play the same shot, does that not call upon a certain skill as well?

Short answer is no. Because it takes a good amount of skill and practice in real matches to adopt such a culture which your team atm is looking unable to do so.
