So this is the first time we have played India 3 times in a row in a very long time and we progressively got better. The first match we were a bundle of nerves due to past pastings and got beaten bad, second game we showed some fight and by the third game we knew they were beatable. We almost beat them even with carrying 3-4 passengers in the team. I genuinely think we can beat them if we play them regularly like in the past instead of one match a year where all the pressure and previous mental scars play heavily on the players minds.

It can go the other way around. India inflicting more and more damage. Pakistan is playing a lot of LOI cricket against NZ a certified world class team. They mainly play B string teams against pakistan. Still look at the record.

Last 2 years

Pakistan vs NZ

ODIs played 7 lost 6 won 1
T20s played 15 lost 10 won 4

Pakistan will improve if they play against better teams but they will still keep on losing. any good t20 team won’t have agha and talat like players in the middle order.

it's more got to do with player quality we are fielding in the team -- we got the match into last over with this team , just gotta find out couple of players both in terms of quality and strong mental fitness.

Before the match the esteemed posters here were making claims that India will get bogged down by the pressure of the event and how Pakistan who doesn't have anything to lose will absolutely maul India.

Point being, if you can't beat India in a high pressure final, you most definitely are not beating us in bilaterals.

No.

India won a gold medal in Javelin & then they built a structure around it and are now producing capable athletes. They have at least 2 or 3 more athletes who are competing well.

Pak won a gold medal, our PM made a dumb video, some prize money was announced, & that's about it.

A system and structure along with fairness ensures that the best step up to play. Sports science is a developed field now & you cannot ignore these things at the elite level.

An odd victory here or there is our best chance but playing consistently will only expose us further (It'll look like our test record in Aus, RSA, etc.)

This was Pakistan's best chance to beat India because it's going to be till next year when these teams meet again. But Pakistan just blew it. First with 9-33 and then with Haris Rauf bowling masterclass.

The answer ofcourse is no. Both teams have a massive skill and talent gap. Pakistan had a chance here because they were riding the wave of momentum, and India were struggling in certain areas. I doubt Pakistan will get another chance like this in a very long time.

Nah, In some matches, India can play not that well and Pakistan can well then there is chance but it won't happen often.

Playing more will help for sure, but may not be enough to win often.

Improving the domestic cricket will help there big time.

I think this is an important point. India obviously felt the pressure today. They know there would have been immense media and fan backlash had the lost today and they made a lot of errors.

Pakistan don’t stand a chance against them when they are playing regular cricket and not bogged down by the occasion.

That's my point, we almost won with 3-4 passengers in the team. The fear, extra pressure and mental scarring we have of playing India in a do or die match only once a year or so could be overcome if its a regular occurrence.

Pakistan can become better even if they don't play India. SENA teams are above Pakistan in T20s. Australia and sometimes England, play at team India levels.

Ya.. They heavily invested in building an invincible T20 batting unit. Ended up going in the otehr direction as they frequently collapse and end up putting subpar total. Nobody has technique, game awareness, skill. They just swing from hips.

If OP is making a point that Pakistan is losing to India due to pressure, then how about seeing performance against top teams collectively in recent times?

Pakistan has won only 4 games out of 26. Issue is related with skill set.

Pakistan is currently a low ranked t20 side and rightly so.

They need to work their way to the top by beating other lower ranked sides consistently.

It's not just pressure against India, there is a major skills gap. Skills gap can't be breached by familiarity.

Tbh most Pak supporters were saying it was 80-20 in India's favour before the match and it would be enough if we gave them a good fight, which we did. It's certainly better than we played against them in a long time. Tbh reminds me of this scene from Family Guy.

Tough. Pakistan - India matches over the last 5-6 years have happened on juicy wickets. Low scoring games. Pakistan have competed reasonably well.

Pitches in billaterals are flat. Indian team will put up 220 and then win by 80-90 runs. Such losses will be demoralizing. If that happens in the first match of the series, Pakistan won't respond well.

Any where in bazball kind of pitches , pak will be slaughtered. India scored almost 300 in Africa .it was very lucky for pak to play on bowling pitches only, which completely screwed the run rateandvrediced margins drastically.
