Pakistan faces significant challenges to prevent a second consecutive T20 series loss against New Zealand after trailing 2-0. The hosts dominated both matches, with bowling collapses and batting inconsistencies plaguing Pakistan. In the first T20I, Pakistan was bowled out for 91 (their lowest T20 score in NZ) after a top-order collapse, while New Zealand chased the target in just 10.1 overs.

In the second match, reduced to 15 overs due to rain, Pakistan managed 135/9, but New Zealand’s openers Tim Seifert (45 off 22) and Finn Allen (38 off 16) dismantled the bowling attack, securing a five-wicket win.

Key issues include:

Batting fragility: Only Salman Agha (46 in the second T20) and Khushdil Shah (32 in the first) provided resistance amid frequent collapses.

Bowling struggles: Shaheen Afridi conceded 26 runs in one over during the second match, highlighting Pakistan’s inability to contain New Zealand’s aggressive openers.

While Pakistan has three uncapped players (Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Ali) in the squad, their inexperience contrasts with New Zealand’s seasoned lineup. Historically, Pakistan has a 23-19 T20I lead over NZ, but recent form favors the hosts. To avoid a series loss, Pakistan must address batting stability and bowling discipline in the remaining matches.

Nope

New Zealand vs Pakistan in their last 10 matches across formats:
  • Last 3 ODIs: W,W,W(New Zealand won all three)
  • Last 2 T20Is: W,W (New Zealand won both)
  • Last 5 Tests: D,D,W,W,W (Two draws, three wins for New Zealand)

This shows New Zealand has dominated Pakistan across formats recently.

They try to adapt the fearless approach with no brains, surely will fail... Im writing 5-0 with this side..

1) Skill level is too bad for intl cricket
2) Second NZ is a tough place to tour even for the experienced folks.
3) All of them try to stay relevant to the fearless approach and bat with eyes closed swing from the hip
4) Bowling is simply atrocious..

SO even with a D grade NZL side this team would lose easily...

No. But they will win the ODI series.
If NZ main players come back for the ODI series, Pakistan have no chance. Right now they are playing a kind of depleted NZ team in T20Is, but if they return to full strength Pakistan is going to struggle.

Problem is, Pakistan due to injuries/selection, are also far from full strength. Their best ODI xi is pretty solid though:

Fakhar
Saim
Babar
Rizwan
Agha
Khushdil
IK Niazi
Naseem
Shaheen
Rauf
Abrar

Pretty strong batting lineup. Bowling is somewhat of a weak link though therefore I wouldn't mind seeing the likes of Naseem, Shaheen and Rauf replaced in time with the likes of Ali Raza, Ubaid Shah, Akif Javed. Fakhar and Rizwan are getting no younger as well so it would be nice to see M Haris, Haseebullah blooded in. Muqeem and Arafat Minhas would be handy for Asian conditions too.

How are they going to return during the IPL? Pakistan will win and then you will be looking for excuses.

No excuses. Pakistan cannot do anything if NZ players are not available. Look at the prediction thread. I actually said Pakistan had the upper hand in this series but so far it has not been the case. Seems like NZ second string is quite strong.

Remember NZ without their main players won a ODI series in Pakistan. So they cannot be counted out but again without their main bowlers, NZ will struggle a bit. Great chance for Pakistan to get a series win in NZ. In ODIs Pakistan for sure has the upper hand.

No , Pakistan fans should accept the reality now and reality is if they are the future pakistan players or best crops in domestic cricket currently it's means Pakistan has becomes minnows .
:kp

No and it doesn’t matter. Bilateral series didn’t matter when we were winning them either, as we realized subsequently in the ICC tournaments. If we can find 2-3 talents over the next few series, I would count that as a success.

I don't think Pakistan has got it to save themselves from another humiliation. 5-0 loading

The last series was in Pakistan and it was drawn. So it won't be a 2nd consecutive series loss

Pakistan will win the ODI series. Just wait and watch.

Pakistan should do well in Auckland. Wicket shouldn't be that difficult as in previous two games. I think we will win.
