What's new

New Zealand (137/5) defeat Pakistan (135/9) by 5 wickets in the second T20I to lead the 5-match series by 2-0

shadab was extremely lucky that he was not bowling to Rohit sharma his friend in that over. Atleast 3 woudl ahve landed in the embankment.

Look at Khusdil Shah's bowling stats yet Aaqib didn't pick Abrar Ahmed.

Aaqib has to be the worst coach and selector of all time
you'd think he would be able to improve our fast bowling at least but that has gone down the drain as well...

Mitchell has totally lost it . I think he should stop playing T20 as well. He was lucky to be picked by CSk. Mostly due to Stephen Fleming. In 2025 he was omitted.

Pakistan fans are hiding behind rizbar.

Smell the reality instead blaming everything on them.

:kp

At least a slight improvement from last game. Really need to do a better powerplay as a bowling side. The game was pretty much done in the first 5 overs.

Jahandad Khan for me is not an international material. Need to move on from him. Is Khurram Shehzad in the squad?

Salman Agha your best batsman and Rauf our best bowler...so haven't learnt anything new this match despite the improvement...

pakistan played much better than first though still not competitive against new zealand..opening batters and bowlers.. both seem in trouble

Well, this was bad.

But it was an improvement from Sunday.

Lets look at positives.
Salman is doing well, Haris connected a couple of balls, Rauf didn't get smashed, khusdil bowled ok.

Jahandad had very good FC season. This boy can move the red ball.
But they rewarded him by picking him in T20Is to destroy his confidence

They should never go back to both Babar and Rizwan though. Only one should come back and that's probably Babar.
Babar is definitely has a place in the T20 team.

But I don't think Pakistan can compete against any team with any players .

Problem is bigger and deepar than babar Rizwan.

Its Just rizbar hater's find the excuse and same for his supporters

The early assault by Siefert and Allen sealed the game. The Pakistani think tank knew these players go hard early, where is the planning by Aqib Javed and Azhar Mahmood?

you wont learn much from the two games..most of these young batters arent of international level and have to improve on job.. biq question marks on bowling though, shaheen shah seems to be regressing and shadab khan also seems worse bowler since he last played

People say that it is our batting that is letting us down and that may be so, but it has always been our (fast) bowling that have won us the ICC tournaments... you'd would have thought that having two fast bowlers in the coaching set up would have improved our bowling but it has regressed under them...

i think some amount of game awareness has to be shown by bowlers as well..plan was to bowl back of length as pitch was two pace.. but since kiwi batters were scoring well on that pacers should have improvized

20 runs below par against a NZ attack lacking Jamieson is not good enough. But also the new ball bowling is utter pants .

It doesn't matter if the players just wildly slog and miss everything.

Haris scored 11 of 10 today which is exactly the same as what babar and rizwan do.
Rizwan averages 47 in this format and keeps wicket , he's not even playing and getting the criticism what's the logic behind this ?

Shaheen has been playing for 7 years now but he still bowls like an inexperienced debut ant. I got fired from one of my jobs two and a half years in because as per my manager I hadn't shown enough growth, development, evolution and was stagnant. These senior players have the easiest job in the world because they are never held accountable unlike others in the professional world.

Getting better by the game. Need to make few changes:
Omair bin Yusuf in place of hasan for 2 games
Abbas afridi for jahandad
Sufyan muqeem for Mohamed Ali

The first ball Jahandad bowled slightly full, he trapped Allen lbw.

Haris Rauf against SENA & India

49 matches 73 wickets 22.28 average 9.00 ER

Haris Rauf against others

31 matches 38 wickets 19.07 average 6.90 ER
both r average stats for the kind of pace he posseses. infact stats vs smaller teams is worse . average though v good he's the no.1 run machine upthere with saf

They are more concerned that it was cold... LOL

its only 9 -13 degrees in Dunedin .. and kaptaan says its freezing 😬😬😬... India Pak sees colder winters and kaptan says its freezing 😬

So you remember anytime in recent past when Pakistan think tank went with a strategy? Or they had plan B or C to execute?

They are more concerned that it was cold... LOL

now like typical schoolkid nibba nibbis say on winter exams/ boards ...pen pakadna mushkil tha ...they will cry it was tough to grip the ball like harry brook couldn't see the ball in smog

Some are saying improvement was seen in this game - what is any improvement worth if it's not enough to win a game? It wasn't even close.

cant roast pitches outside Pak so how will strategy come into play ? its laughable to see Pak not try even the younger fearsome looking spinner who bowled them to glory in tests. world knows they r weak against good spin. they shud try atleast 2-3 spinners with 2 pacers and one medium pacer allrounder.

pathetic selection and poor team balance

dunedin is very chilling ..remember gavaskar saying it is one of the coldest place he has played cricket in..

Pakistan scored at 9 an over which was encouraging. It was probably not enough on that pitch but the intent was good.

its alll relative but biggest concern is that young batters dont seem talented enough to play at this level..somebody from top 4 has to score big runs..

Caught some highlights on YT.

LMAO, WTH is that bizarre noise that bowler Ali makes in his delivery stride? You cannot unhear it!

Normally in aus , nz its about the breeze than temperature measurement.heavy breeze will make u freeze/numb especially if u r from desi tropical climate .

Paksitan batsmen are behind in range hitting. NZ had a maiden over. They still won it comfortably thanks to big bitting skills. In their entire history only once pakistan has scored 25 runs or more in a single T20 over. Babar Azam against Ireland lol

Among the recent guys

Babar Azam 25 runs vs Ireland, 4 sixes
Aamer Jamal 24 runs vs Hong kong 3 sixes 1 four
Asif Ali 24 runs vs Afghanistan 4 sixes
Khusdil shah 24 runs vs Hong kong 4 sixes
Rizwan 24 runs vs Namebia 4 fours 1 six
Sohaib Malik 22 runs vs Scotland
Ahmed sezad 21 runs vs BD

Fakhar zaman 21 runs vs England
Fakhar zaman 21 runs vs NZ
Iftikhar 21 runs vs India
Iftikar 21 runs vs Australia

Fakhar/Ifikhar have done against better sides. Most of the big overs for Pakistan came against minnows/associate sides. Against top side Pakistan is not capable of taking a 25 run over.

Blind hitting at its peak
All 19 Pak dismissals in the two games so far were catches!
Club players of many international teams will perform better imo

Haris Rauf speaking during a post-match press conference:

About the performances of Young players:

“When it comes to criticism, it has become a norm now. In any part of the world, when young players are given opportunities, they are given full freedom. Teams usually give them 10-15 matches to prove themselves before they become established players. No player, no matter how big a name they are in T20 cricket or any format, starts without struggling at the beginning. Criticism is part of the game, but it’s become a habit for some people to wait for Pakistan to lose just so they can criticize“

“We’re trying to build our team, and we’re giving young players a chance. They need time to grow. Everyone has their own opinion, and they’re free to express it. But as a team, we’re trying to build our unit, focusing on both juniors and seniors. As seniors, we’re constantly motivating the younger players, telling them what international cricket demands and how they need to play. The sooner they learn, the better it is for them.”

About the bowler’s performance:

“The boys made an effort, and considering the ground, everyone knows it’s a high-scoring venue. With the given conditions in T20 cricket, it’s all about the day; whoever performs well has the upper hand. They hit some excellent shots. It’s not that our bowlers didn’t give their best, but there were some unlucky moments—edges turned into sixes, small boundaries, and the wind factor. As a bowling unit, we all gave our efforts, but the result didn’t favor us. Early on, there were some unlucky moments—catches that should’ve been taken turned into sixes.”

About learning from past games:

“The past is the past; it’s gone. We learned what we could from it and used it. We tried to adapt to the conditions, but there was some unluckiness. Credit must also go to the opponents for their good cricket and excellent shots. They deserve more credit for playing the way they did.”

About the decline of the Pakistan team:

“Our cricket has gone through a bit of a rough patch. As a team, we’re rebuilding and trying to meet the requirements of the modern game. We’re experimenting and trying different things, and results will come. But as we learn and improve, a time will come when Pakistan returns to being the best in T20 cricket. You’ll see great cricket from Pakistan in the future."

About Pakistan bowling struggling in Asia:

“I don’t think it’s only Pakistan’s pacers who struggle; it’s all pacers across the world. Whoever has played in those conditions has struggled due to the nature of the pitch. As a bowling unit, we’re putting in effort. Utilizing such tracks efficiently pays off, but it’s not just Pakistan’s pacers who face challenges—look at the stats for all pacers.”

“When other bowlers from different teams talk to us, they often ask, “How do you guys bowl in these conditions?” They discuss it with us. We also try and experiment to find ways to give our best in these conditions. Sometimes, the results are not in our favor, and sometimes they are. What matters is what you learn from those experiences.”

M. Ali looked awful for T20. Why such poor team selection for T20? Where is the pace quartet Naseem, Shaheen, Rauf, Hasnain?

Bas karo yaar.

Babar only plays for the other team.

He is only only interested in himself.

His entire personality can be reflected in the ODI match vs Australia when he padded his way to match losing century, not interested in winning the game but maintaining his average.

The most shameless innings in history of cricket.
I was astonished by that innings, I saw satisfaction and a sense of achievement in him after he scored match loosing fifty that day ...That explained a lot about his mindset..Though he is technically superior in current pakistani squad , he should rediscover himself if he wants to use his talent for teams cause...That one innings alone should keep him away from team for a year and he should come back to play for the team not for his personal stats...

Much better performance by Pak but still a loss is a loss. This is 5th straight loss agaisnt NZ?

They are more concerned that it was cold... LOL

Tbf that is a valid reason
It gets really cold

Desi teams struggle there for that reaisn

Aus is much warmer and closer to desi climate

To win in nz is hard cause of the conditions.
