Can Sahibzada Farhan Be Pakistan’s Next T20 Captain?

After finishing as Pakistan’s top scorer in the 2026 T20 World Cup, Sahibzada Farhan has seriously entered the captaincy conversation. When the team was struggling for momentum he was the one holding the innings together and playing responsible knocks under pressure.

And this isn’t something new. In National T20 tournaments as well he has been one of the most consistent and high-performing batters over the last few seasons. He knows the local conditions, understands the domestic circuit, and has shown maturity in his game.

Pakistan has been searching for stability in T20 leadership. So the question is simple should the board now look towards an in-form, consistent performer like Farhan?

Is this the right time to back him as Pakistan’s next T20 captain or is it too early?

Captain has to make the team consistently on merit.

Has to be Usman Tariq as he makes the team and has good skill.

Farhan will soon be figured out by teams/bowlers and I doubt he will be able to improve his dot ball percentage. He definitely should play on current form but we cannot be sure about his future.

Apart from Usman, another who has good hope of playing for a long time is Saim Ayub.

For me either Saim or Usman. Farhan no. Short term till next WT20? Maybe only if he performs against good sides.

A few T20 sixes against any bowler should never win a tullaybaaz captaincy. That's a very low bar for the big job.
