Shadab is a bowler who's useful with the bat, ie. if you have a decent batsman at the other end he can hold one end. Asking him to bat anything above 7 is foolish, he's not a middle order batsman let alone top order!

I was his big supporter and thought he is right up there when it comes to game awareness but he has been the biggest disappointment and reason for our defeats. On both occasions he basically just gifted his wickets away playing up in the air. You would think being a vice captain he would show some responsibility but absolutely brainless approach and careless attitude

Guys like Shadab should be used a floaters. Not permanent no.4s. Permanent no.4 should be specialist batsman.

I used to think Shadab had the potential to be a solid number 4, but seems he's trying to adapt his game to play lower down the order. I felt he had the potential to progress like Shoaib Malik did when Bob Woolmer promoted him to no. 3. Maybe too optimistic.

In my opinion, his natural game seems more of an accumulator / timer / proper cricketing shots type of a player but seems he's trying to go down a different path.

Honestly speaking shadab is not actually a lower order batsman, look at his batting style, it more suits him to bat higher up the order but the fact is that you can use him in top order occassionally not on permanent basis.

It was based on observation in his early career. I feel like he had the potential which he never fully developed.
Instead he starting trying to define his role within the team as a hard hitting batsmen when he was captain in the PSL and promoted himself to number 3 or 4.

Fair enough for trying to carve out a role especially in the era of T20's but I feel like it doesn't suit him.

Would be surprised if Shadab really gets dropped. I think it might be better to drop Nawaz for Abrar because Shadab still provides some chance of power hitting and also the amazing fielding.

Shadab Khan averages almost 40 this year with the ball at an economy rate of 5.5. He isn't giving Pakistan the control they need in the middle overs but again as an all-rounder he is still worth it. Pakistan for sure need another genuine wrist spinner who takes wickets in the squad.
