Can Shoaib Malik be utilized as an opener in T20Is?

He's consistently getting to 50 and he's bailing his team out of awkward situations
His bowling has not been utilised either and he's still. A very good fielder

He makes sense as an opener as he is good at finding gaps during the power overs and can bat through the Innings quite easily

He struggles against moving ball and is exceptional against spinners so making opener would not be the best use of his abilities.

Also rest of the Pak batsmen are not very good against spin as their struggles against Srl in T20s showed and thus someone like Malik would be better suited in the middle order.

The problem is that the more we play has beens like Malik and Hafeez, both of whom should have been put to pasture in the 10 years ago, the more difficult it becomes to allow the younger players to develop. We are not going to win anything with Malik and Hafeez as our middle order. They will bash some awful spinners but as soon as the pace hits 82mph,both are done for.

I have watched him play for long enough to know he isn't a going to succeed as an opener.

If he's going to be in the playing XI then yes make him the opener so he can get out with minimum number of deliveries wasted because in the middle order he's going to lose you more games than win.

What kind of logic is that? You could be good at doing either one of those. Watch even if those "death yorkers" start moving in the air, Malik would be left defenceless. He is simply hopeless against the moving ball, a trait that is shared by many Pakistanis.
