I think India wants an all format captain in Gill. And their probably searching long term.

Its why bumrah wasnt made captain cause Bumrah cant play consistently year round and hes kinda old for bowling standards.

Gill can play for 10 to 12 years and possibly 15 knowing that Indians like extending their career to 40

Shreyas has proved his worth as a captain TBH. He should really be among the talk for captaincy. I think he will do better job than any other guy in the squad atm... Even Gill is not close to him in terms of cpatiancy.

I started genuinely detesting him when he held on to his India position long after he was done and lost us the WC semifinal and then went on to play and play for CSK shamelessly. This after talking big while captain about moving on from oldies and coming up with a rotation system for Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir.
