Can the PSL attract a better crowd in the stadiums if it is held in England, USA or Canada?

Pakistani ODI and T-20 games in England have always been jam-packed and sold out. US and Canada have very large Pakistani populations as well. If the UAE is proving to be extremely expensive to host anyways, why not think about hosting the PSL in these countries then?

The US and Canada would presumably be even more expensive and lack the cricketing facilities required whilst the ECB wouldn't give permission for it to be hosted in England.

Crowds were amazing back when Pakistan played their home matches in England

In England yes,

If matches are played in Birmingham, Manchester and London

Probably Leeds also

Potentially in England yes. Perhaps we'll see better crowds in later PSL tournaments when all games will be played in pakistan.

Games would sell out in England, but Salman Butt and co. have made the English unlikely to do us any favours for about another 30 years.

Why is everyone overrating PSL so much?

No crowd attraction in Dubai, poor quality coverage (no HD), hardly any “exciting” with fear factor/world class potentials rookies in any side, poor level of cricket.

PSL is just a comfort zone for likes of Darren Sammy to fill their pockets. A luxurious holiday.

The aim of the PSL should be playing in Pakistan.

Keep it in the UAE until then.

Completely concur.

The teams are essentially composed of washed up grandpas and B grade Pakistani cricketers.

I doubt the franchises have any sort of talent scouts in place. To add on further, these talent hunts that the franchises host are generally nothing more than a gimmick. Especially in the case of LQ, their talent scout pick, Salman Irshad, was picked on the back of his Kashmiri origin. Islu had a similar talent hunt program, in which they picked a grand total of zero players from.

The coverage is in HD, I watch it on willow and its broadcast in HD, now its another matter if your are watching this on a local channel

Sharjah fills up. Dubai doesn't.

I said it earlier in other thread also.
Except opening ceremony and first matc no matches should be played in Dubai. The stadium has a capacity of around 55k and even when it is 20-25k crowd is there, it looks as if the stadium is empty, just like on Friday, it was a good crowd of 15-20k but stadium looked empty. Now take Sharjah, imo it has a capacity of 20-22k so when u get 15k or more crowd, stadium looks full, the crowd in Sharjah is less as compared to Dubai but bcz of less capacity it looks better and gives a great feel. Yday there might have been a crowd of 5-6k and it looked empty stadium while as same crowd in Sharjah would have packed one stand. In Pakistan GSL has got a capacity of 22k and a crowd ok 12k-15k will make it look like almost full stadium, similarly NSK has a capacity of 35k although it is huge no. But very less as compared to DSC.

Lets take an example in Hong Kong Super Sixes last year, every match was sold out but the stadium had a capacity of 1000 at max and with crowd booing after every ball it looked one hell of a crowd, get the same crowd in DUBAI and they wont even be visible.
I think there is a scope of playing atleast 10 matches of next PSL in Pakistan, so they should do opening ceremony and play first few games in Dubai and then move completely to Sharjah and play last group games, qualifiers and final in Pakistan

nope

the turnout in the UAE is embarrassing
was rubbish when the tournament originally started

even in pakistan
a few games in and the crowd will disappear

It won't,unless people are dissuaded by the difficulty of getting into the stadiums due to security.Or the difficulty of getting tickets.I plan to watch the PSL final in Karachi and already my friends are asking high-up connections for tickets.

Should only be held in Pakistan
Hope the next season is in Pakistan only
Would travel to watch

No way would England allow PSL to be hosted here. They're trying to increase the audience for their own T20 competition.

Plus the weather is awful this time of year - we're all frozen to the bone right now.

It’s been a good effort, very tough when you can’t play at home with a massive cricketing nation living near stadiums etc -looking forward to the semis and final, should provide that added intensity.

UAE probably offer PCB a good package, in return they have regular use of otherwise relatively quiet venues - test matches there are a bit of grind to watch on tv because of no crowd, probably a strange place to play at times too.

Sharjahs a good venue though, think we should just play tests there, and stick to two tests for home series...quick in and out for the big boys touring.

Savak with his bizarre posts

Lol at hosting PSL in Canada or US

The once in a lifetime all star games didn't sell out and you'll hold PSL in USA where there's only half a million or so Pakistanis dispersed throughout the landmass and with many having no interest in cricket

Also England. Where would these games be held considering England home seasons, county and A tours

And not to take into account the cost of holding the event in these places would be ten times more.

Imo from next year psl should be fully held in Pakistan

If that's not fully possible the only ground in UAE that should be used should be sharjah

One thing is guaranteed, if any matches were held in Manchester, London, Leeds etc there would be a whole lot more people in the ground than the joke that is Dubai.

The crowds would be great in England but the ECB wouldn't allow it, also PCB wont consider England because it's very expensive. I use to think that hosting in England wouldn't be too bad but they'd have to pay more tax there compared to the UAE which is also closer to home for the players Junaids
