Mohsin Naqvi confirms that the Pakistan-England Test series will be held in Multan and Rawalpindi [Post Updated #92]

It makes sense as well because the Champions ODI Cup will be played there therefore the stadium in any case will be getting a face lift. Also the Hotel facilities in Faisalabad are better than Multan.

We need to diversify and move away from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan e.t.c.
Between Multan and Faisalabad they can host all the England matches.. Multan is where Shoaib Akhtar destroyed the England batting lineup in 2005

Damn PCB in chaos ,on and off the field surely there has to be some accountability

PCB should not be hosts. Ik alot of people are upset but here me out.

A) India will never ever come, and until friendly realtions are established which if it ever happens will be 200 to 500 years away, theirs no point. And sadly bcci are ICC's biggest funders and India vs Pakistan is ICC's biggest ticket seller.

B) The pitches are in literally zero condition to host a sport, yes rn construction is underway so we'll see but these pitches are unsuited to host a test match and odi and t20 matches won't be balanced.

C) Whether people like it or not, UAE was the place where pakistan improved, they were quality pitches and to top it off, better quality international players were travelling to uae for PSL. 2017 ct happened because our players got exposed to top quality batters and bowlers on top quality pitches.
All these just for 2 matches. We will loose to India 100% in UAE and 1 match at home we will loose even against BD. PCB should try to improve domestic and find proper talent instead of wasting money.

Rob Key shares his thoughts on the Pakistan tour with British sports media:

"We have our operations team, people waiting to book flights. I have heard Sri Lanka and South Africa. I don't think it will be there personally. There are rumours flying around. My guess is we will be in Pakistan - but that is a guess."

good for Pakistan as we can expect them now to give England a tough time because playing on home ground for Pak is as difficult as playing in Australia.

There is less audience turning out , pak vs ban series would have put expectations of this team to bed, even if its rank turner these guys would lose all their wickets to English spinners..

Because of low audience turn out , they can keep one section for the audience or completely close it and play without audience

Any pics of the ongoing renovation work from any stadiums , is that really bad to stage cricket matches...

If Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi are ready then why not host matches there... two tests in one venue just like pak vs ban or 3 in venue should also be fine.

Investments are long term.
Yes , most likely the Chanpions trophy will be moved to Sri Lanka. Even Pakistan knows that, but they’re preparing for 2027-28 season in advance.
they probably got a big budget from the ICC. And now are milking it through construction thekas

England would be happy anyway. Another whitewash in offing

Good news.

Moving a series out of Pakistan is suicide.
Índeed.. would be very costly after bringing back cricket to the country after so many years....

I would even go ahead and play the series without audience if the infra is not yet available...

Mc cullum and england should be smart enough to know what squad to select regardless of the venue s in Pak, Uae or asia.

Conditions would dictate that.

However from a supporters angle travel arrangements need to be made so a gripe with that would be understandable.

Why PCB keep giving matches to Rawalpindi when they are unable to prepare an appropriate Test wicket there? They could have played both matches in Multan when the stadiums in Karachi and Lahore are under construction.

Agree.

PCB shouldn't host any game on Rawalpindi for a while (pitch doesn't suit the home team currently). They need to upgrade the pitch first.

Likely for security reasons

PCB thought that Rawalpindi was a crowd-puller stadium but it was not in the last series. Nobody is interested in watching such boring games.

PCB should make a rank-turner wicket in Pindi and a pacy wicket in Multan to make it interesting for both teams.

The pitches produced 2 results in last 2 games.

The players/admin went on a rant at the ground staff and showed muscle at the start to hide their shortcomings, only to be thoroughly humbled and embarrassed into submission later.

You are 100% correct. It is important to remember that!

Despite the moans about the pitch Pakistan got hammered twice.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Concerned As England Series Itinerary Yet to Get Finalised

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is adamant on hosting the upcoming Test series against England at home, but the international cricket department's failure to finalise the itinerary has left him frustrated. Pakistan are scheduled to face England in three Tests from October 7 with Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi being outlined as the venues. However, the construction work going on at these venues ahead of next year's ICC Champions Trophy has created some doubts around the availability of the stadiums there.

"With less than a month remaining for the first Test, the international department is yet to even decide where the first match would be held," an insider confided to PTI.

He said although Naqvi had shot down a proposal to move the Test series to UAE or South Africa, the department concerned is yet to formally announce the tour itinerary.

"The Chairman has made it clear that relocating the series would damage the image of the PCB, and Rawalpindi and Multan should be used as the venues for the three-match series," he said.

The board insider said even the English cricket board and the Barmy Army members were anxious to know whether the first Test will be played at Multan or Rawalpindi.

"The Chairman is not happy because the more the announcement of venues and itinerary is delayed the more it affects the board's revenue generation opportunities from the three matches," the insider said.

In this context, the insider said the broadcasters have been struggling to sell the telecast rights of the series abroad.

"Even the broadcasters who have bought the rights to sell the series internationally are worried as they are yet to find a buyer to show the matches in the UK," he added.

"In this background, the more the announcement is delayed the more it is hitting the PCB's chances of earning good revenues from the England series." Recently, the PCB had to stop the National under-19 championship after just one day's play in the first round of three-day matches all over the country.

"The reason for the postponement was because of various complaints that due process was not followed while selecting the regional teams and secondly the event was launched without the budget for the championship first being approved/released by the finance department of the board," he added.

The source confided that some gaps were also found in the budget submitted for the event.
